Mets give Daniel Murphy the day off Thursday vs. Cubs
Mets infielder Daniel Murphy was given the day off Thursday and is out of the starting lineup against the Cubs. He had started all but two of the Mets' games so far this season, but with a lefty on the mound, manager Terry Collins opted to give Murphy a breather. Murphy is hitting just .154 against left-handed pitching in 2015.
In his place, Ruben Tejada will get the start at third base and bat eighth. This is the first appearance at the hot corner for Tejada, either in the big leagues or the minor leagues. He did get some reps at third during spring training, however.
Dilson Herrera will make his second consecutive start at second base on Thursday.

Diamondbacks SS Chris Owings still inconsistent at plate
Diamondbacks shortstop Chris Owings managed one seven-game tear in late April. That has not been good enough to consider him productive in 2015.
Owings had more than half his hits on the season during that stretch. He is otherwise 10-for-71. A hitless Sunday weakened his slash line to .210/.240/.330.

Mets infielder Ruben Tejada earns start at second base on Sunday
Mets infielder Ruben Tejada is battling his way back into the rotation in the infield. Saturday, Tejada made a beautiful stop at short, earning the respect of manager Terry Francona, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Collins said after the game Tejada made a great play by a good player and that ever since he lost his job, Tejada has never worked harder.
That hard work is paying off as Tejada will draw the start at second base on Sunday, his third start of the season at second.
