  • Maximo Acosta SS | MIA

Marlins' Maximo Acosta: Rehab assignment on tap

Acosta (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.

Acosta landed on the injured list ahead of Opening Day due to a left oblique strain, but he now appears to be nearing a return. The 23-year-old infielder slashed .229/.318/.377 across 466 plate appearances with Jacksonville last season and will likely return to the minors once he's activated.

  • Max Muncy 3B | ATH

    Athletics' Max Muncy: Starting Tuesday

Muncy (hand) is starting at third base Tuesday and batting fifth versus the Rangers.

Muncy exited Monday's game against the Rangers due to a bruised left hand that was the result of a hit-by-pitch. All appears well Tuesday for the third baseman, who missed only a few of innings after leaving in the top of the seventh Monday.

  • Marcelo Mayer 2B | BOS

Red Sox's Marcelo Mayer: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Mayer is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Mayer has a .591 OPS through 15 games this season and is 3-for-26 over his past eight contests. He'll sit Tuesday in favor of Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who is starting at second base and batting ninth versus Minnesota righty Mick Abel.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Pulled off rehab with soreness

Holliday (hand) has been pulled off his rehab assignment due to mild right wrist soreness, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

It's the same hand Holliday had surgery on back in mid-February to remove the fractured hook of the hamate bone. Holliday is slashing only .167/.239/.214 with a 3:12 BB:K over his first 11 rehab contests, so it's not terribly surprising that he's not feeling 100 percent. The Orioles don't seem to believe it's a significant setback, however, as they anticipate Holliday resuming his rehab assignment in a few days.

  • Jhonny Level SS | SF

Giants' Jhonny Level: Dominant start to season

Level is hitting .519 with two home runs and three steals in six games for Single-A San Jose.

Level excelled in the Arizona Complex League last year (121 wRC+) but struggled a little after a bump to Single-A (89 wRC+). This early start is obviously unsustainable (.632 BABIP), but it's a sign that Level is more than ready for a return to the California League.

  • Rece Hinds RF | MIA

Reds' Rece Hinds: Receives call to Cincy

The Reds recalled Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Hinds will receive his first call-up of 2026, joining the Reds' 26-man active roster as a replacement for Noelvi Marte, who was optioned to Triple-A on Monday. The promotion comes after Hinds got off to a banner start with Louisville, slashing .354/.475/.771 with five home runs and one stolen base over 61 plate appearances. With Marte out of the picture, Hinds and Will Benson will vie for playing time in right field.

  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Swats fifth homer in loss

Abrams went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Pirates.

The 25-year-old shortstop turned on a 99.5 mph fastball from Paul Skenes in the first inning, pulling it over the wall in right field. Abrams appears to be on his way to career-best power numbers in 2026 -- through 15 games he's slashing .327/.406/.618 with five homers and 17 RBI, and his 32.6 percent flyball rate and 26.1 percent pull-air rate would be career highs.

  • Angel Martinez LF | CLE

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Homers in win

Martinez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 9-3 win over the Cardinals.

Martinez's first-inning homer ignited the Guardians' nine-run uprising Monday. The outfielder is a scorching hot 12-for-26 (.462) with two home runs, two doubles, seven RBI, three steals and five runs over the last six games.

  • Oneil Cruz CF | PIT

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Stays scorching hot in rout

Cruz went 2-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base, three RBI and three runs scored in Monday's 16-5 win over the Nationals.

Cruz continued his hot start, extending his hitting streak to 12 games while stuffing the stat sheet in another dominant performance. The 27-year-old's biggest swing came in Pittsburgh's 10-run sixth inning, when he ripped a 114.1 mph single off the right-field wall to drive in two runs. The dynamic shortstop has been one of baseball's most productive players early on, ranking among the league leaders in hits (22), home runs (5), RBI (16), batting average (.355), slugging percentage (.645) and OPS (1.074), while also sitting tied atop the NL in stolen bases (7). Through 16 games, Cruz looks every bit like the breakout star many expected and will look to continue his dominance at the plate as the season progresses.

  • Max Muncy 3B | ATH

Athletics' Max Muncy: Exits with bruised hand

Muncy was removed from Monday's game against the Rangers due to a bruised left hand, Jeremiah Salmonson of Section 105 Pod reports.

Muncy was hit by a pitch on the hand during the bottom of the fifth inning but was able to remain in the game until the top of the seventh. He was later diagnosed with a bruise, which is a positive sign considering the location of the injury. Muncy should be considered day-to-day until the Athletics have another update to share. Andy Ibanez or Darell Hernaiz could draw the start at the hot corner Tuesday if Muncy is unable to go.
