  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Takes seat against southpaw

Crawford is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Crawford is one of several lefty-hitting regulars who will take a seat with southpaw MacKenzie Gore taking the hill for San Diego. Along with Crawford, Brandon Belt (knee), LaMonte Wade, Luis Gonzalez and Joc Pederson are getting the day off.

  • Diego Castillo 3B | MIN

Pirates' Diego Castillo: Playing regularly in utility role

Castillo will start in right field and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Castillo doesn't possess a regular spot in the lineup at any position, but he'll nonetheless pick up his fifth straight start Sunday. The last three of his starts have come in right field, but the Pirates are expected to roll out an outfield of Ben Gamel, Bryan Reynolds and Jack Suwinski in most games. Castillo will get the nod in right field for the series finale while the slumping Suwinski takes a seat.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Ready to play Sunday

Pena (illness) is starting at shortstop and batting second Sunday against the Athletics.

The young shortstop sat out the past few days while in the league's health and safety protocols, but he'll rejoin the lineup for Sunday's series finale. Pena has an .818 OPS with three home runs through seven games in July.

  • Jeter Downs SS | NYY

Red Sox's Jeter Downs: Plays key role in win

Downs went 1-for-1 with an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Yankees.

Downs scored the game-tying run as a pinch runner for J.D. Martinez in the eighth inning, then plated a run in the 10th inning with his first hit in the majors. He later came around to score the winning run on Alex Verdugo's single. Downs is up with the Red Sox after the team placed Christian Arroyo (groin) on the 10-day injured list Saturday. The rookie could get a start or two at third base pending the status of Rafael Devers (back), who didn't play Saturday and is expected to sit out Sunday.

  • Rays' Wander Franco: Officially moves to injured list

Franco (wrist) was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

The 21-year-old is dealing with a hamate injury in his right wrist that could require surgery, with the resulting procedure expected to sideline him for 6-to-8 weeks. Franco will be further evaluated Monday when the Rays return from their current road trip, which could bring more clarity regarding whether or not he'll need surgery. Taylor Walls is expected to take over as Tampa Bay's primary shortstop, while Yu Chang and Jonathan Aranda could also see increased playing time in Franco's absence.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Receives Sunday off

Anderson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

Anderson is off to a slow start in July with a .518 OPS through nine games, though he has perked up over the past few days by going 5-for-13 with a double, an RBI and three runs. Leury Garcia will shift to shortstop while Yoan Moncada takes over leadoff duties Sunday. The White Sox will close out the final week before the All-Star break with an eight-game slate, but fantasy managers shouldn't count on Anderson starting in more than seven of those contests. According to Scott Merkin of MLB.com, manager Tony La Russa said Anderson isn't expected to play both ends of Tuesday's doubleheader in Cleveland, and if he does, the shortstop would be scheduled to sit out Wednesday's series finale.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Solo homer in win

Seager went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's win over the Twins.

Seager's fourth-inning solo shot gave him a homer in back-to-back games. It was his third long ball of the month after he hit four in all of June. The shortstop has picked up 11 hits in eight July games, including four multi-hit performances. He has struck out only once during that span. Since July 1, Seager has increased his batting average from .226 to .241 thanks to a .355/.429/.645 slash line.

  • Angels' Andrew Velazquez: Moves into bench role

Velazquez remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Velazquez is on the bench for the fifth game in a row and appears to have lost hold of an everyday role in the middle infield. Luis Rengifo and Michael Stefanic are expected to serve as the Angels' primary starters moving forward at shortstop and second base, respectively. Since the beginning of June, Velazquez has slashed .099/.120/.222 in 35 games, so the Angels' decision to move him to a bench role hardly comes as a surprise.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Marlins' Jon Berti: Adds to big-league steals lead

Berti went 3-for-5 with a double and a stolen base in an extra-inning loss to the Mets on Saturday.

Berti led off the contest with a double and finished with his first three-hit game of the campaign. He stole second base in the seventh inning but was left stranded there. Berti has been a true difference maker in fantasy this season thanks to his proficiency on the basepaths. He leads the majors with 26 thefts, with 22 of those coming since the start of June.

  • Rays' Wander Franco: Headed to injured list

Franco will be placed on the injured list after suffering a hamate injury Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Franco has been hampered by lower-body injuries throughout the first half of the season, and he will be forced to miss more time with the current issue. He was spotted with his right hand in a brace and will undergo further evaluation Monday, though Topkin has suggested Franco could be in for an absence between six and eight weeks.
