  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Sitting Tuesday night

Lindor is on the bench for Tuesday night's game against the Marlins.

Lindor went 0-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday afternoon's continuation of a suspended April game. In his last 10 contests, the switch hitter is hitting .243 with three extra-base hits and four RBI. Javier Baez is playing shortstop, with Jonathan Villar moving to second base.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Remains sidelined Tuesday

Anderson (leg) is still dealing with soreness and is not starting Tuesday's game against the Pirates, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

The infielder misses yet another start with leg soreness. Manager Tony La Russa has repeatedly downplayed the significance of Anderson's absences, but continued omissions from the lineup will add to the concern that Anderson may be nursing a more serious injury than La Russa is letting on. Leury Garcia is playing shortstop and batting eighth Tuesday.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Expects to play Tuesday

Adames (quadriceps) indicated he expects to return to the Milwaukee lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Adames was on the bench for the fourth time in six games during Monday's 3-1 win while he continues to manage a left quad injury, but he appears ready to reclaim his regular role at shortstop. He was spotted running the bases during batting practice Monday and gave reporters a thumbs up after the workout, seemingly hinting that he'll be back in action Tuesday. Confirmation on Adames' return should arrive when Milwaukee releases its lineup a few hours before the 9:45 p.m. ET opening pitch.

  • Jeter Downs SS | NYY

Red Sox's Jeter Downs: Sidelined with thumb inflammation

Triple-A Worcester placed Downs on its 7-day injured list Monday with thumb inflammation, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

The injury is viewed as a minor one and isn't expected to keep Downs on the shelf for much longer than the minimum amount of time, but it's a frustrating development nonetheless in what's been a disappointing campaign for the 23-year-old. Back in spring training, Downs appeared likely to receive his first big-league call-up at some point in 2021, but that's no longer in the forecast while he's struggled to the tune of a .179/.263/.314 slash line over 336 plate appearances at Worcester. In addition to striking the ball with little authority (28.6 percent hard-hit rate), Downs has seen his strikeout rate balloon to 32.4 percent at Triple-A, a huge jump from the 20 percent rate he posted between stops at High-A and Double-A in 2019.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Rockies' Trevor Story: Homers twice Monday

Story went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Rangers.

Story started off with a solo shot in the seventh and then followed it up with a two-run blast in the eighth to make it a 4-3 ballgame. His two homers would end up being the only run supply for the Rockies on Monday as he's now made it back-to-back multi-hit games. A popular trade candidate at this year's deadline, Story ended up staying in Colorado and is slashing .279/.374/.581 with five homers, 13 RBI, 20 runs scored and 7:22 BB:K in 25 games this month.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Ends homer drought

Seager went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and two strikeouts in Monday's 5-3 triumph over Atlanta.

Seager accounted for Los Angeles' final two runs in the game with his third-inning long ball off Atlanta starter Drew Smyly. The blast was Seager's seventh on the season and first since Aug. 10 as his current .439 slugging and .802 OPS would be career lows for a full season if they hold.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Out of Monday's lineup

Adames (quadriceps) is not in the lineup Monday against the Giants, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Adames served as the designated hitter the past two days after sitting out the previous three games with a quadriceps injury, and he's apparently not quite ready to play the field. Luis Urias will receive another start at shortstop in his absence while Jace Peterson continues to work at third.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Rays' Joey Wendle: Explodes for six-RBI day

Wendle went 3-for 4 with an RBI single, a solo home run, a grand slam and a walk in a win over the Orioles on Sunday.

Wendle nearly single-handedly dismantled the Orioles in a memorable day at the plate, and his seventh-inning grand slam gave the Rays some breathing room after Baltimore had closed to within two runs in the home half of the sixth. Wendle's pair of homers pushed him to a new career high of nine for the season, and he's now carrying a five-game hitting streak during which he owns a .500 average and seven total RBI.

  • Tommy Edman LF | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Caps off huge week

Edman went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBI and an additional run in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Pirates.

After closing out the series in Pittsburgh with another excellent game, Edman was named the National League's Player of the Week on Monday. Over a six-game stretch from Aug. 23 to 29, Edman went 12-for-26 (.462 average) with two home runs, two stolen bases, 10 RBI and seven runs.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Plates three runs Sunday

Ahmed went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI in Sunday's loss against the Phillies.

Ahmed recorded his first multi-hit game since Aug. 14 and while he made his presence felt in this one by plating three of the team's four runs, he hasn't been much of a threat at the plate of late for Arizona. He's only hitting .218 with a .630 OPS across 24 games this month.
