Owings went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Dodgers.

After producing at least one hit in all but one of his 19 appearances from June 10 to July 4, Owings has turned in back-to-back hitless efforts, going 0-for-8 with six strikeouts. There's no reason for Owings' fantasy owners to panic given the brevity of the slump, but manager Torey Lovullo could look to give the 25-year-old a day off in one game of the Diamondbacks' three-game set with the Reds to close out the first half.

Gordon went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two stolen bases in Thursday's loss to the Cardinals.

He'd gone nine games without a successful steal, but Gordon now has 31 on the season to go along with 50 runs and a .291 batting average. He won't provide any power, but the 29-year-old is an elite fantasy leadoff man given his strong three-category production.

Bogaerts is dealing with swelling and soreness in his right hand, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.

Although he's listed as day-to-day after X-rays came back negative, Bogaerts is still feeling the effects of being stung on the hand by a pitch in his first at-bat Thursday. The hope is that his hand will be better in time for first pitch Friday, but if he's given the night off to let the soreness subside, Tzu-Wei Lin would likely get the start at shortstop against the Rays.

X-rays on Bogaerts' right hand came back negative Thursday and he is considered day-to-day, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.

This comes as a massive relief for Bogaerts and the Red Sox considering he left Thursday's game in considerable pain after taking a Jacob Faria pitch off his right hand. Initial tests showed that Bogaerts had a bruised hand and subsequent X-rays revealed no further damage. Bogaerts is day-to-day for now, but if he's given the night off Friday, Tzu-Wei Lin would likely draw the start at shortstop.

Bogaerts has been diagnosed with a bruised right hand and is scheduled to be further evaluated, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.

The early results are encouraging for Bogaerts, but a clear timetable for his return won't come into focus until he goes through additional testing. He was hit on the right hand in his first at-bat Thursday and was replaced by Tzu-Wei Lin at shortstop. If Bogaerts is given the night off Friday or beyond, Lin would be the logical short-term replacement at shortstop.

Bogaerts was removed from Thursday's game after being hit on the hand by a pitch, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.

He took a Jacob Faria offering off the left hand in his first at-bat Thursday and was able to briefly stay in the game as a runner, but manager John Farrell opted to pull Bogaerts when Boston took the field for the bottom of the first inning. Bogaerts looked to be in considerable pain as he left the field, but it's too early to tell the severity of the injury. Look for a further update on Bogaerts' status late Thursday or early Friday.

Tejada is not in the lineup Thursday against the Twins, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Tejada is hitting just north of the Mendoza Line this season, and although he seems to be the primary option at shortstop for Baltimore at the moment, his poor hitting line will likely lead to a good number of days off. Thursday is one of those days, with Paul Janish filling in for him.

Correa (thumb) is back in the lineup Thursday against the Blue Jays, batting third and playing shortstop.

The All-Star shortstop ultimately missed just one game due to the thumb ailment that knocked him out of Tuesday's contest prematurely. He'll resume his normal role in the Astros lineup as he looks to build upon his stellar .320/.397/.553 batting line.

Featherston was placed into the lineup Thursday due to Tim Beckham's apparent injury, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

There hasn't been word on why Beckham was scratched from the lineup but Featherston will take over at second base while batting sixth. If Beckham winds up missing a little time, Featherston could get another start or two before the All-Star break, but Brad Miller (groin) is nearing a return from the DL so there are a decent amount of variables at play.

Cordoba has not appeared in a game since July 1.

The rookie shortstop dealt with a minor hand injury at the tail end of June, but despite not having any sort of setback reported, Cordoba has been held out of the lineup for three consecutive games. It appears that manager Andy Green has opted to roll with Erick Aybar as his everyday shortstop after running a three-way timeshare at the position over the past few weeks. With Chase d'Arnaud being designated for assignment July 4, Cordoba becomes the primary backup at short.
