Chris Owings SS | LAD
Diamondbacks' Chris Owings: Will bat seventh Tuesday
Owings will start at shortstop and bat seventh against the Giants on Tuesday.
With right-hander Johnny Cueto taking the mound Tuesday, Torey Lovullo will shy away from his Opening Day lineup that stacked right-handed bats in the top three spots. Instead, Owings will slide down to seventh in the order while left-handed swinging David Peralta will jump up to the two spot. It seems this might be common against right-handed starters, but only time will tell.

Orlando Arcia SS | MIN
Brewers' Orlando Arcia: Reaches base twice Opening Day
Arcia went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the Brewers' season-opening loss to the Rockies.
Arcia hit eighth in the Brewers' Opening Day batting order and figures to slot in there often at the beginning of the regular season, but he is one of the Brewers' most promising youngsters, and figures to play nearly every day at shortstop.

Francisco Lindor SS | NYM
Indians' Francisco Lindor: Can't capitalize on Opening Day chances
Lindor went 0-for-3 and left five runners on base, but he did manage to draw a walk and notch an RBI in Monday's Opening Day win over the Rangers.
Only two MLB players left more runners stranded than Lindor did on Opening Day. Most disappointing about the situation is that four of the five he left on base were in scoring position. The shortstop could have had a huge day, but Lindor hit into two double plays, including one in the fifth inning with the bases loaded. Although the opener didn't treat him well, the 23-year-old will surely bounce back as he's one of the greatest offensive threats in the game at his position.

Carlos Correa SS | HOU
Astros' Carlos Correa: Goes deep in season-opening victory
Correa went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and two RBI in Monday's 3-0 Opening Day win over the Mariners.
Correa has provided decent speed and power from the shortstop position in his first two seasons, but at age 22, fantasy owners are expecting much more. He's right there with Corey Seager of the Dodgers in terms of most exciting and talented young shortstops in the game.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Dodgers' Corey Seager: Slugs home run, drives in three Monday
Seager finished 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Monday's 14-3 win over the Padres.
Seager was a spectator as his team built a big early lead, but he joined the party with a three-run dinger to left center in the fifth inning. He emerged as one of the best young hitters in the game last season and should have big things in store in his second full campaign as a Dodger.

Xander Bogaerts SS | SD
Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Swipes two bags in season opener
Bogaerts went 2-for-4 and stole two bases in Monday's 5-3 win over Pittsburgh on Opening Day.
Manager John Farrell likes to avoid an extended run of same-sided hitters, so he moved Bogaerts down to sixth after spending 155 games in 2016 as the second- or third-spot hitter. Hitting lower in the order could result in the shortstop being freer to attempt stolen bases; he said back in February that he wanted to do that more of in 2017.

Josh Rodriguez SS | NYM
Mets' Josh Rodriguez: Heads to Mets on minors deal
Rodriguez signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Monday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
Rodriguez's only time in the majors came in 2011 during a brief stint with the Pirates, when he went 1-for-12 before being sent back to the minors. The 32-year-old will report to Triple-A Las Vegas, where he will serve as organizational infield depth.

Xander Bogaerts SS | SD
Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Hitting sixth in season opener
Bogaerts will start at shortstop and bat sixth in the order during Monday's season opener against the Pirates, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.
Bogaerts batted sixth in the Red Sox lineup on just two occasions last season, but it looks like the addition of the lefty-hitting Mitch Moreland and the installment of top prospect Andrew Benintendi into the lineup on a full-time basis may push the shortstop down the order against right-handed pitching. While Bogaerts' placement may not make him an attractive entity in DFS contests Monday at his usual price, those who own him in season-long leagues should obviously keep him active, as he remains capable of offering helpful production across the board.

Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU
Cardinals' Aledmys Diaz: Swipes two bases in opener
Diaz went 2-for-5 with a double and two stolen bases in Sunday's 4-3 Opening Day win over the Cubs.
Diaz and offseason acquisition Dexter Fowler have the look of a lethal 1-2 punch at the top of the Cardinals order, and it was the former who particularly stood out Sunday. The pair of swipes was especially noteworthy because Diaz was just 4-for-8 in steal attempts during his rookie campaign and never topped six stolen bases in his minor-league career. Now 26, Diaz burst onto the scene in 2016 in the wake of Jhonny Peralta's spring training thumb injury, providing a .300/.369/.510 line that included 28 doubles, three triples, 17 home runs and 65 RBI. With a year of seasoning at the big-league level now under his belt, 20-plus homers and 100 RBI look to be realistic goals for the blossoming star in 2017.

Chris Owings SS | LAD
Diamondbacks' Chris Owings: Will bat second Sunday
Owings will start at shortstop and bat second in the order in the Diamondbacks' Opening Day game Sunday against the Giants, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
With a tough left-hander on the hill for the opposition in Madison Bumgarner, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo will stack his lineup with right-handed bats in the top three spots. Owings will occupy prime real estate between A.J. Pollock and Paul Goldschmidt on Sunday, but there's a chance that Lovullo could drop the shortstop in the lineup when the Diamondbacks face right-handed starters.
