Wendle is out of the lineup Thursday against the Mariners, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Wendle will head to the bench with the A's facing lefty Ariel Miranda, as he did the last time the team faced a southpaw. While he continues to lead off against right-handed pitching, Wendle has mostly underwhelmed in the leadoff role with a .324 OBP and .339 SLG from the top spot.

Seager is absent from Thursday's lineup against the Padres, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.

It's likely just a day of rest for the elite shortstop. Expect him to be back in there Friday. Charlie Culberson is taking his spot and batting second Thursday against San Diego left-hander Christian Friedrich.

The surprising pop Anderson showed early on in his season had yet to show up in September. This was his first homer of the month, and he entered Tuesday's game with just a .250/.289/.304 line in 23 September games. Anderson hasn't shown much plate discipline, but he still owns a decent .278/.300/.411 line on the season, and if he can maintain this level of power, he'll have a future at shortstop for the White Sox.

Diaz (personal) is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Reds.

Diaz was away from the team for one game, but he'll re-enter the lineup now that he's back in town. The 26-year-old will take over at shortstop and bat seventh in the Cardinals batting order.

Lindor is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Tigers.

This is the game after the Indians celebrated clinching the division, so almost all of the regulars are getting the day off. Erik Gonzalez will start at shortstop and hit ninth Tuesday.

Baez went 2-for-5 with a home run and six RBI in Monday's victory against the Pirates.

Baez has been a force as a utility guy for the Cubs all season. The 23-year-old now has 14 home runs and 57 RBI in his first full season in the majors. With so much talent in Chicago playing time isn't guaranteed for Baez, but he has proven he can contribute when in the lineup.

Diaz is away from the Cardinals to be with Jose Fernandez's family in Miami, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Diaz was good friends with Jose Fernandez growing up, so he left for Miami to offer consolation to his family.

Diaz is not in the lineup Monday against the Reds.

Since returning from the disabled list earlier in the month, Diaz has been played a bit less than before the injury, which could be in part to ease his thumb back into action, but could also be impacted by his .172 batting average since coming back. Jedd Gyorko will take over at shortstop in his stead.
