Story's injury is being called a jammed left thumb, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

X-rays on the Rockies shortstop came back negative, which is obviously good news. Story is considered day-to-day while we wait for more information.

Story left Saturday's game with an apparent left thumb injury, Jenny Cavnar of Root Sports reports.

Further details regarding Story's status were not immediately available, but expect his status to be updated when more news is released.

Diaz is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Marlins.

It seems manager Mike Matheny has decided Diaz could use a little mental rest following his first career three-strikeout game Friday. Diaz should be back in there Sunday, looking to finish off his .299/.375/.505 month of July on a high note. Greg Garcia will start at shortstop in his absence.

Crawford is out of the lineup Saturday against the Nationals due to a bruised left hand, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.

Apparently, Crawford jammed his hand in his first at-bat Friday and needs at least one day to rest up. Eduardo Nunez will take over at shortstop and lead off with Denard Span (quad) also on the bench. Crawford is batting .196/.255/.314 without a home run since the All-Star break.

Baez is starting at second base and batting fourth Saturday against Seattle.

Baez is getting the rare designation in the four-hole Saturday with Anthony Rizzo out of the lineup on a maintenance day. Baez is currently riding a seven-game hit streak and is slashing .292/.349/.563 with 21 RBI in the month of July.

O'Malley went 2-for-5 with an RBI single in Friday's 12-1 loss to the Cubs.

The Mariners' leadoff man allowed his team to avoid the indignity of a shutout with a ninth-inning single that plated Leonys Martin. The 28-year-old has a pair of multi-hit outings in the last five contests, but has only tallied two extra-base hits, both doubles, in his 11 hits during July.

Bogaerts had a big night on Friday, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and his 13th homer.

Bogaerts continues to thrive in the middle of the powerful Red Sox lineup as he lifted his average to .331 on the year. The 13th homer established a career high in taters for Bogaerts with a full two months still remaining in the season. The knock on Bogaerts after 2015 was his power after hitting only seven homers, but he has put that knock to rest a bit as he is on pace for 20 bombs in 2016.

Turner is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants, MASN's Dan Kolko reports.

This is a little surprising, as Turner has provided a spark atop the Nationals' order recently with eight hits and three steals in his last four games, but it seems manager Dusty Baker is intent on keeping Ben Revere involved. Turner still seems like the favorite for playing time in center field moving forward.

Turner once again hit leadoff and played center field during Thursday's win over the Giants, going 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base.

He's now started three straight games in center and over Turner's last four games he's reached base 10 times (eight hits and two walks) while stealing three bases, scoring four runs and pushing his slash line up to .333/.382/.510, albeit in just 51 at-bats. As long as the converted shortstop doesn't make any glaring defensive miscues in the outfield, Nats manager Dusty Baker will likely keep writing the rookie's name on his lineup card.

The slick-hitting rookie keeps on impressing, as his two-run homer in the third got the Cardinals started and his RBI double in the fifth provided a key insurance run. The 25-year-old Cuban hit only 13 homers in the minors last year, but he now has 14 in 94 MLB games and a batting average that he's holding solidly above .300. If not for Trevor Story, Diaz would be getting a lot more attention, but his fantasy owners certainly know what he's been about this year.
