Lawlar (hamstring) was activated from the minor-league inured list Sept. 8, MLB.com reports.

Lawlar was sidelined in mid-June due a Grade 1 hamstring strain and an aggravation caused him to miss more time than expected. The 22-year-old is Arizona's top prospect, but he's been limited to only 15 games in a frustrating campaign and will now look to close the season strong.

Walls isn't in the Rays' lineup for Thursday's game versus Cleveland, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls will take a seat Thursday after going 1-for-3 with an RBI during Wednesday's game against the Phillies. In his place, Jose Caballero will start at shortstop and bat sixth.

Edwards is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

It marks three games in a row that Edwards has been absent from Miami's lineup. He did receive two plate appearances off the bench in Wednesday's game versus the Pirates, so it seems as though Edwards is available. The switch-hitter did return from a back injury earlier this month, so this appears to be a situation where the Marlins are just being cautious with their young infielder. Otto Lopez is at shortstop in Thursday's series opener.

Morales slashed .342/.478/.691 with 14 home runs and 12 steals in 201 plate appearances in the Dominican Summer League.

A 6-foot-3 shortstop who was born in Spain and trained in the Dominican Republic, Morales received $1.9 million as one of the top prospects in the Jan. 15, 2024 international signing class. He is already pretty big for the six, so as he fills out his frame, Morales may end up as a slugging third baseman rather than a five-category shortstop.

Fitzgerald went 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and three runs scored in Wednesday's 13-2 win over the Brewers.

Fitzgerald has kept his bat warm in September, going 12-for-35 (.343) over nine contests, though he's produced just one RBI this month. The shortstop is now at a .297/.352/.532 slash line with 14 home runs, 17 stolen bases, 31 RBI and 49 runs scored over 83 games. Wednesday was the first time he's hit leadoff versus a right-handed pitcher since Aug. 25 -- he hit between second and seventh for 13 consecutive games. The Giants haven't faced a southpaw since Aug. 21, though that streak of opposing righties is projected to end Sunday if Martin Perez (paternity list) returns as expected for the Padres.

Crawford went 1-for-3 with a two-run double and a walk in a win over the Padres on Wednesday.

Crawford delivered the final runs of the night for the Mariners with his sixth-inning double, which brought home Luke Raley and Justin Turner. The veteran shortstop extended both a hitting and RBI streak to three games, while also getting his average back up to the Mendoza Line for the first time since Aug. 28.

Schuemann is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Houston.

Schuemann started both of the first two games of the series and reached base four times, but he'll get a breather for Thursday's matinee. Nick Allen will cover third base and bat ninth for the Athletics.

The Astros recalled Kessinger from Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

He will give the Astros another infielder while Jose Altuve (side) is banged up. Kessinger is hitless in 15 at-bats at the major-league level this season.

The Tigers optioned Kreidler to Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.

He's clearing out to make room on the active roster for Wenceel Perez (oblique), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Kreidler has managed just a .369 OPS in 34 games with the big club this season.

Rafaela started at second base and went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's 5-3 extra-inning win over the Orioles.

Rafaela made his second start at second base (fourth appearance overall) and first since shortstop Trevor Story was reinstated from the 60-day injured list. At the time of Story's return last week, the speculation was the Rafaela would move to second base, but that didn't occur until Wednesday's game.
