  • Masyn Winn SS | STL

Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Getting day off

Winn is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Phillies, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

It's a simple day off for the rookie shortstop as the Phillies and Cardinals look to decide the series Wednesday. Brandon Crawford will fill in.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Added to roster ahead of MLB debut

The Orioles selected Holliday's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Holliday is set to make his much-anticipated major-league debut Wednesday in Boston. The top prospect had been firing on all cylinders early on at Norfolk, batting .333/.482/.595 with two homers, nine RBI, 18 runs scored and one stolen base in 10 games. Holliday will take over as the Orioles' everyday second baseman, which should mean more starts at third base for Jordan Westburg, who has been bouncing back and forth between second and third.

  • Jose Caballero 2B | NYY

Rays' Jose Caballero: Collects three hits, steals base

Caballero went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two runs batted in and a stolen base Tuesday against the Angels.

Caballero's impressive start at the plate continued Tuesday, as he tallied his third-career three-hit game. The shortstop has now reached safely in all 10 games in which he's appeared this season and boasts a .353/.378/.441 slash line with six runs scored, five RBI and five stolen bases.

  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Drives in three against Giants

Abrams went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run batted in Tuesday against San Francisco.

Abrams tagged starter Kyle Harrison for the two-run shot in the third inning, marking the shortstop's third long ball of the 2024 season. While it's still early, Abrams has seen a massive power spike in his third MLB season, with his ISO jumping up from .167 in 2023 to .344 through eight games. He ranks second in home runs at the shortstop position, trailing only Mookie Betts.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: Reaches base three times in loss

Turner went 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's loss to the Cardinals.

Turner was one of three players in the lineup to have two hits but was the only one who was active on the basepaths, picking up his fourth steal of the season. He's now had multiple hits in three of his last four games but has totaled just two extra-base hits so far.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Launches first homer

Bichette went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Mariners.

The shortstop finally connected for his first long ball of the season, driving a George Kirby slider into the second deck in left field at the Rogers Centre in the third inning. Bichette was just 3-for-25 to begin the season, but he has an extra-base hit in four straight games, going 5-for-14 with three doubles plus Tuesday's homer, as well as a 3:4 BB:K.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

Marlins' Tim Anderson: Nabs second steal

Anderson went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees.

The hits are starting to come for the 30-year-old shortstop. Anderson has four multi-hit performances in the last seven games, and he's batting .346 (9-for-26) over that stretch. It's a very encouraging sign after his numbers cratered in 2023, but as yet, the contact hasn't resulted in much actual production. On the season, only one of Anderson's 13 hits (a double) has gone for extra bases, and he has just one RBI, three runs and two steals in 12 contests.

  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Back in lineup Tuesday

Abrams (finger) will start at shortstop and bat leadoff Tuesday versus the Giants, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Abrams will be back in the lineup after missing the last three contests with a bone bruise on his left pinky. The 23-year-old currently owns a six-game hitting streak, batting .375 with two homers, five RBI, five runs scored and three stolen bases over those contests.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Seager is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the A's.

Seager started the past seven games and will take a seat after posting an .889 OPS during that stretch. It's likely just a maintenance day for the veteran shortstop since he was sidelined for most of spring training while recovering from offseason hernia surgery. Josh Smith will man shortstop in his place Tuesday.

  • Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Sitting out Tuesday

Rocchio is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's tilt against the White Sox.

It's a routine day off for Rocchio, who has now started nine of 11 contests at shortstop for the Guardians this season. Gabriel Arias will get the call at short Tuesday.
