  • Jose Barrero SS | BAL

Reds' Jose Barrero: Optioned to Triple-A

Barrero was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Barrero will head to Louisville after spending the entirety of the 2023 campaign with the Reds to this point. He's struggled to a .218/.295/.323 slash line over 46 games, and with Nick Senzel (knee) being activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Barrero was the odd man out on the major-league roster. The 25-year-old will look to get into a groove with Louisville before potentially being recalled later this summer.

  • Ezequiel Duran SS | TEX

    Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Sitting Friday

Duran isn't in the Rangers' lineup Friday against the Blue Jays.

Duran is 0-for-9 across his last three games and will sit Friday to regroup. Travis Jankowski will start in left field in Duran's place and bat eighth.

  • Miguel Rojas 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Swipes fourth bag

Rojas went 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Thursday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the White Sox.

Rojas notched his second straight two-hit performance and nabbed his first theft since the final day of May. The shortstop's sprint speed ranks in the 30th percentile leaguewide, but he's shown some savviness on the basepaths with 31 steals in 39 attempts over the past three-plus seasons. However, he has a paltry .258 OBP on the campaign and has yet to hit a homer, so he's not much of an asset outside of some deep fantasy formats.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Marlins' Joey Wendle: Back in action Friday

Wendle (groin) has returned to the lineup for Friday's game versus the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Wendle sat out the previous three contests with a groin issue but is feeling well enough to give it a go Friday. He'll be covering shortstop and batting sixth against Trevor Williams and the Nats.

  • Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Blasts sixth homer

Tovar went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI in Thursday's 8-3 loss to Atlanta.

Tovar cut the Rockies' deficit to 5-2 in the fourth inning with a 424-foot shot off AJ Smith-Shawver. In 14 games since the start of June, the 21-year-old Tovar is now batting .286 (16-for-56) with three homers and an .811 OPS. His slash line is up to 251/.289/.414 with six homers, 32 runs scored, 30 RBI and three stolen bases through 253 plate appearances in his rookie campaign.

  • Johan Camargo: Cut loose by Kansas City

Camargo was released by the Royals on Thursday.

Camargo was slashing .298/.412/.544 with four home runs in 15 games with Triple-A Omaha this season, so it's possible this was an opt-out situation. Whether the 29-year-old has another deal lined up elsewhere isn't clear.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Two steals in win

Mateo went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.

This was Mateo's second two-steal game in his last five contests. He's seen his playing time drop a bit lately due to a 12-for-47 stretch over his last 16 games. The shortstop is still one of the top speed options in baseball with 20 steals on 23 attempts, but he's struggled to a .234/.276/.372 slash line with six home runs, 25 RBI and 34 runs scored over 60 games.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Productive in win Thursday

Baez went 2-for-5 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Twins.

Baez has mostly struggled this season, though he still has the ability to pop for big games like he did Thursday. The shortstop has been heating up lately as well, as he now has hits in five straight games and has batted .348 during that span. Baez is still hitting just .231 for the season with a .598 OPS, but his recent stretch is promising.

  • Angels' Andrew Velazquez: Recalled from Salt Lake

The Angels recalled Velazquez from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

With the placement of Zach Neto (oblique) on the 10-day injured list, the Angels will call on Velazquez as Neto's replacement. The 28-year-old shortstop has yet to play in the majors this season, but he is slashing .203/.337/.392 across 92 plate appearances in Triple-A. Velazquez will compete with Gio Urshela (back) and Luis Rengifo for time at shortstop while Neto is out.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Lands on IL

The Angels placed Neto on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a left oblique strain.

Neto felt something in his side after making a warmup throw in the first inning of Wednesday's game and had to be removed. The 22-year-old shortstop will now be shelved for at least 10 days, and Andrew Velazquez will be recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake to take Neto's place on the roster.
