Rocchio is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Dodgers.

Rocchio and Gabriel Arias have shared the shortstop job for the Guardians since the trade of Amed Rosario, and it will be Arias at the position for this one after Rocchio had started four of the previous five games there. The 22-year-old Rocchio has collected a .610 OPS over 18 games for Cleveland this season.

DeJong agreed to a major-league contract with the Giants on Tuesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

DeJong has found a new home just one day after being released by the Blue Jays, who had acquired him from the Cardinals at the Aug. 1 trade deadline. The 30-year-old went 3-for-44 (.068) with zero extra-base hits in 13 games for Toronto, but he could immediately become the primary starter at shortstop in San Francisco, or at least share playing time with Johan Camargo. Brandon Crawford has had a rough year at age 36 and landed on the 10-day injured list Sunday because of a left forearm strain.

Lindor went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and an additional run scored in Monday's 10-4 victory over Atlanta.

Lindor remained locked in at the plate Monday, extending his hitting streak to eight games with a fifth-inning single and later adding a three-run homer to extend New York's lead to 10-4 in the sixth. The 29-year-old switch hitter registered three batted balls with exit velocities over 100 mph, including a flyout to the center-field fence in the first inning. During Lindor's hitting streak, he's batting .400 (14-for-35) with one home run, eight RBI, nine runs scored and two stolen bases.

Franco was placed on administrative leave Tuesday by Major League Baseball under the Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

He had been on the restricted list in a mutual agreement between the Rays and the player, but Franco has now been shifted to administrative leave as the league and authorities in the Dominican Republic continue their investigations into his alleged inappropriate relationships with minors. Franco doesn't have a set length for his stay on administrative leave, as MLB can typically extend it on a week-by-week basis until the investigations have been completed. Franco will continue to be paid and accrue service time while on leave.

DeJong was released by the Blue Jays on Monday.

DeJong lost his spot on Toronto's 40-man roster over the weekend and has now hit the free agent market after clearing waivers. He struggled mightily during his time with the Jays, but now that DeJong can be had at the prorated veteran minimum salary, he should land on his feet somewhere.

Crawford (concussion) went 0-for-4 with two walks and two runs in a win over the White Sox on Monday.

Crawford was back in his familiar leadoff spot in his return from the injured list and played a table-setting role in the lopsided win. The veteran shortstop's multiple trips on the basepaths were fitting, considering he's now sitting on an elite .436 on-base percentage across 112 plate appearances since the All-Star break thanks in large part to a 17.0 percent walk rate in that span.

Witt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Athletics.

Witt belted a 426-foot solo shot in the sixth inning to bring the Royals to within a run. The star shortstop has been sizzling for over three weeks, batting .415 (39-for-94) over his past 22 games. He's posted nine homers, 29 RBI, 21 runs and nine thefts over the red-hot stretch.

Perdomo is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.

Perdomo generally sits in favor of Nick Ahmed when a southpaw is on the mound for the opponent, and that will be the case Monday with left-hander Jordan Montgomery set to start for Texas.

Allen is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.

Allen went just 4-for-21 (.190) over his last six games, so he will get a day to clear his head. Aledmys Diaz will fill in at the shortstop position.

Crawford (forearm) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

The MRI should shed light on the severity of Crawford's left forearm strain while also helping to inform a treatment plan for the shortstop, who was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday. For whatever length of time Crawford is sidelined, the Giants are expected to turn to Johan Camargo and Casey Schmitt as their primary options at shortstop.
