Canzone is not in the Mariners' starting lineup against the Dodgers on Friday.

Even with right-hander Emmet Sheehan on the mound for the Dodgers in Friday's series opener, Canzone will be on the bench for the start of the game while Josh Naylor serves as the designated hitter and Luke Raley gets the nod at first base. Canzone has logged at least one hit in five of his last six games and has a 1.151 OPS with four home runs, 11 RBI and 11 runs scored in 51 plate appearances since Sept. 1.

Polanco is not in the Mariners' starting lineup against the Dodgers on Friday.

Polanco will begin Friday's contest on the bench while Cole Young starts at second base and bats ninth. Polanco has been hot at the plate since Sept. 1 with a .329/.375/.608 slash line with three home runs, 13 RBI, 13 doubles and 12 runs scored across 89 plate appearances.

Hentges (shoulder) recently underwent arthroscopic right knee surgery, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Hentges developed soreness in the knee while rehabbing from September 2024 surgery to repair the capsule and labrum in his throwing shoulder. He's expected to need 3-to-4 months to recover, so on paper it shouldn't threaten Hentges' chances of being ready for the start of next season. However, that's assuming he doesn't encounter setbacks, which isn't a given as he works his way back from a pair of operations.

Smith is not in the lineup for Friday's contest in Cleveland.

Smith returned to play the last two games after missing a couple days with an elbow infection, but he'll begin Friday's game on the bench. Ezequiel Duran will handle shortstop and bat fifth.

Fortes is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Toronto.

Fortes will yield to Hunter Feduccia behind the dish Friday. Feduccia has now started three of the Rays' last four games and four straight against right-handed pitchers.

Dobbins (knee) is on track to have a normal offseason and be 100 percent for the start of spring training, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Dobbins underwent surgery in July to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. His recovery from the operation seems to be going off without a hitch and t's not expected to limit him next spring, barring any setbacks. The righty could compete for a spot in Boston's rotation in 2026.

Jackson is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Jackson will take a seat for Friday's series opener. Tyler O'Neill will patrol right field while Jordan Westburg slots in at third base. Jackson is 8-for-29 (.276) in his last nine games.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Friday that Anthony (oblique) has progressed to power walking on the treadmill, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

While it's a modest step forward from his normal walking on a treadmill, it's unclear when Anthony might be ready for baseball activities. A return in time for the American League Wild Card Series -- should the Red Sox qualify -- seems unlikely for Anthony. The rookie outfielder has been shelved for three-plus weeks with a left oblique strain.

Diaz (groin) will DH and bat second Friday against Toronto.

Diaz was removed from Thursday's game due to tightness in his right groin and was deemed day-to-day by manager Kevin Cash. However, Diaz is in the starting lineup for Friday's contest. He's 17-for-36 (.472) with two home runs and a 10:4 BB:K in his last 11 games.

Bichette (knee) has been swinging a bat and throwing, but a timetable for when he'll begin a running progression is unclear, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Bichette has been sidelined for the past three weeks with a PCL sprain in his left knee. The Blue Jays remain hopeful that they will get their shortstop back at some point during the postseason, but when exactly that will happen and in what capacity will remain a mystery until he's able to ramp up his running. Until then, Andres Gimenez will continue to fill in at shortstop.
