Lewis isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs due to left hamstring soreness, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Manager Derek Shelton said Lewis has already begun to feel better since reporting to the ballpark Saturday, but the Twins will keep him on the bench as a precaution. His absence will put Josh Bell at first base, moving Ryan Jeffers to the DH spot and giving Victor Caratini a start at catcher.

The Guardians appointed Allen as their 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Pirates in Cleveland, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Allen is set to start the nightcap while Gavin Williams gets the call to start the first game of Saturday's twin bill. Allen tallied seven strikeouts while giving up two unearned runs in four innings during his lone major-league outing of the season May 25 against Washington. Since then, he's turned in a 3.43 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across 42 frames at Triple-A Columbus.

Gomez gave up a walk and collected a strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning to collect his 12th save of the season in Friday's 5-2 win over the Cubs.

Gomez walked Ian Happ to lead off the inning but retired the next three batters he faced to lock down the Twins' first win of the second half. The 26-year-old has benefited heavily from a change of scenery this season, posting a 1.65 ERA and 0.99 WHIP across 27.1 innings since moving from the Rays to the Twins in May.

Slaten struck out one and walked none over a scoreless eighth inning to earn a hold in Boston's 5-3 win over Tampa Bay in the second game of Friday's doubleheader.

Slaten held the lead for Aroldis Chapman to pick up the save. The former had a bumpy ride during the month of June (10.13 ERA) but appears to have stablized in July. Slaten earned a hold in his fourth consecutive appearance and remains a vital part of the setup crew along with Garrett Whitlock. Both relievers were considered potential closer fill-ins for Chapman when the Red Sox were projected to be sellers at the trade deadline, but Friday's doubleheader sweep of the Rays extended Boston's win streak to 11 straight and put them in a tie for the final wild-card spot.

Ober (7-3) earned the win Friday against the Cubs, allowing two earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven batters across 5.1 innings.

Ober put the Twins in an early hole by allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base, capped off by a Michael Busch single that drove in Pete Crow-Armstrong. However, the Twins' offense picked Ober up with a four-run third inning, and he wouldn't get charged with another earned run until the sixth, when Seiya Suzuki doubled off him and later scored on a wild pitch from reliever Tommy Nance. Ober has now given up just three runs while posting a 12:3 K:BB in 10.1 innings since returning from the injured list July 9, giving him some positive momentum heading into his start next week in Cleveland.

Leiter (ankle) threw a bullpen session during the All-Star break, MLB.com reports.

Following the bullpen session, Leiter continued to throw off flat ground in Atlanta, where the Rangers kicked off a three-game set Friday. The arm feels good, but the report indicates the right-hander may not be back until late in the season.

Melton didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Angels, allowing one run on four hits and four walks while striking out nine over 5.2 innings.

Melton has struck out nine in both of his last two starts, showing excellent form of late. He's given up one run or zero in each of his last five starts, posting a 36:9 K:BB with a 0.92 ERA and 0.75 WHIP across 29.1 innings in that stretch. Melton, who made his first start of the season May 24 and hasn't left the rotation since, will try to keep it going in his next start, scheduled to come on the road against the Cubs.

Montero (6-5) earned the win in relief Friday against the Angels after tossing 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out five without a walk.

Montero has posted excellent numbers in long relief since moving to the bullpen in late June. He's held the opposition scoreless in four of his five appearances out of the bullpen while posting a 2.08 ERA and 14:4 K:BB across 13 innings. Montero has been a valuable arm in fantasy this season and is showing he's capable of handling a swingman role. He had a 3.34 ERA across 15 starts earlier in the year and is now sporting a 2.51 ERA in six relief outings.

Detmers didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Tigers, allowing four hits and striking out seven without a walk over six scoreless innings.

This was undoubtedly a step in the right direction for Detmers, who had given up five earned runs in each of his final two starts before the All-Star break. Even with a few stumbles, Detmers has been a steady presence in the Angels' rotation this season, posting a 3.47 ERA and 1.03 WHIP across 46.2 innings and eight starts since the beginning of June. He's lined up to make his next start at home against the Cardinals.

Yates (0-5) was tagged with the loss and a blown save in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Tigers. He allowed two runs on a hit and a walk across two-thirds of an inning while also hitting a batter.

Yates entered the game in the top of the ninth looking for his fourth save of the season, but instead he got tagged with his third blown save and fifth loss. He had recorded two outs and had runners on first and second when Hao-Yu Lee unleashed a two-run double that ended up giving Detroit the victory. Yates has made five appearances in July but owns a 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across four innings.
