Baez could see his playing time limited down the stretch, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Baez has started more than 75 percent of the Tigers' games since returning from an ankle injury in late July. However, with the team's playoff chances looking remote, the Tigers want to get a look at some younger players in the final month of the regular season. Baez -- who is set to earn $24 million in 2027 in his final year under contract -- has slashed .255/.285/.369 with two homers in 46 contests this season.

Ryan (glute) is scheduled to make a rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A St. Paul, per Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com.

Ryan, sidelined since Aug. 7, will take another step in his recovery by making his first rehab start Tuesday, marking his first game action in four weeks. The 30-year-old has progressed from a pair of bullpen sessions to facing live hitters and now will throw around 45-50 pitches (or three innings) for St. Paul, per Twins manager Derek Shelton. This year, the right-hander owns a 6-8 record, 3.65 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 138:27 K:BB over 125.2 innings.

Rodden is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox.

Weston Wilson will enter the starting nine at third base in place of Rodden. The switch-hitting infielder had been included in the lineup in each of the Mariners' last six games, going 0-for-16 with a 2:4 BB:K during that stretch.

The Tigers could reduce Torres' playing time down the stretch, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

John Peck has been called up and will be given ample playing time at shortstop. That will push Kevin McGonigle to third base most days and could result in Hao-Yu Lee seeing the lion's share of reps at second base. Torres has been productive this season when healthy, slashing .261/.364/.383. However, he's an impending free agent and the Tigers, with the playoffs looking like a long shot, want to give younger players a longer look. Torres is starting Monday's game in Minnesota at second base and is batting leadoff.

Encarnacion-Strand is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.

Encarnacion-Strand will cede his spot in the starting nine to Blaze Alexander, who will handle the hot corner and bat seventh. While starting in each of the last eight games, Encarnacion-Strand went 10-for-32 (.313 average) with one home run, three doubles, two walks, six RBI and five runs.

Alonso (head) will start at first base and bat second in Monday's game versus the Rockies.

Alonso was removed for a pinch runner Sunday against the Athletics after being struck on the bill of his helmet by a pitch. He never experienced concussion symptoms, however, and is ready to roll a day later. Alonso is sporting a 1.050 OPS with nine home runs in August.

Basallo (hand) will start at catcher and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Rockies.

Basallo sat out Sunday's 8-5 win over the Athletics due to a right hand injury, but the issue appears to have resolved itself after a day off. He'll step back in behind the plate for the series opener in Colorado while Carlos Narvaez retreats to the bench.

The Tigers optioned Julks to Triple-A Toledo on Monday.

Julks was on the big-league roster for nearly three weeks but received only seven plate appearances, going 2-for-7 with a double. His spot on the active roster is being taken by John Peck.

The Tigers designated Rainey for assignment Monday.

Rainey was charged with three runs while recording only one out in an appearance Sunday versus the Dodgers, and in seven innings with the Tigers this season has a 6:8 K:BB. He will likely pass through waivers.

The Tigers recalled Diaz from Triple-A Toledo on Monday.

After being claimed off waivers in late June, Diaz has turned in a 2.37 ERA and 21:14 K:BB over 19 innings with Toledo and has made one scoreless appearance for the Tigers. Diaz is likely ticketed for middle relief in Detroit.
