Straw is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Straw had started in each of the previous five games, but he'll likely have to settle for a reserve role against most right-handed pitchers while George Springer, Jesus Sanchez, Brett Bateman and Nathan Lukes are available to fill out the outfield and designated-hitter spots. The 31-year-old Straw has provided value with his speed and defense but is slashing just .217/.272/.332 over 260 plate appearances on the season.

Collins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Collins will hit the bench and will be replaced in left field by John Rave, who will be rewarded with another start after reaching base six times and stealing two bases over the previous two games while filling in for Jac Caglianone in right field. If Rave continues his hot-hitting ways, he could eventually cut further into the playing time of Collins, who has produced a .603 OPS since the All-Star break.

Melton (7-3) took the loss Wednesday as the Tigers fell 3-0 to the Rays, allowing three runs on seven hits over seven innings. He struck out four without walking a batter.

The 25-year-old right-hander delivered his ninth quality start of the season on 84 pitches (58 strikes) in only 16 trips to the mound, but Detroit didn't provide him with any run support Wednesday. Over five outings in August, Melton has produced a 2.10 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB in 30 innings, but he has just a 1-2 record to show for it. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next start, which is set to come on the road early next week in Minnesota.

Wells struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his fifth save of the season in a 3-0 win over the Tigers.

Bryan Baker is getting an extended breather after working three straight days from Saturday to Monday, so Wells got a chance to pick up his first save for the Rays and didn't squander it. The former Oriole has been scored upon only once in eight appearances for his new team, posting a 2.61 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB in 10.1 innings since switching AL East jerseys at the trade deadline.

Burrows (elbow) will make a third rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Sugar Land, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Wednesday's start should represent the final tune-up outing that Burrows requires before coming back from the 15-day injured list and potentially moving back into the Houston rotation. The 26-year-old righty has been exceptional during his first two appearances for Sugar Land, tossing nine scoreless innings while posting an 8:3 K:BB and giving up just four hits.

Wade is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Wade will take a seat after he started in left field in each of the Astros' last three games and went 1-for-10 with a double and a run scored. He'll give up his spot in the lineup to Taylor Trammell, who will man left and bat seventh.

Diaz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Diaz will get a breather Wednesday, one night after turning in one of his best performances of the season. He was the star of Tuesday's 9-7 win, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, one walk, three RBI and an additional run. Christian Vazquez will get the nod behind the plate in Diaz's stead.

Peralta (6-11) picked up the win Wednesday, scattering two hits over six scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory over the Tigers. He struck out four without walking a batter.

Detroit never even got a runner into scoring position against Peralta, who fired 50 of 81 pitches for strikes for his second quality start in four outings with Tampa Bay, and his first win since June 14. Since surrendering seven runs in his Rays debut Aug. 4, the right-hander has a 3.80 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 17:5 K:BB over 23.2 frames in his past four starts. Peralta will look to keep rolling in his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the team that traded him, the Mets.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that Schmidt (elbow) is ready to begin a rehab assignment, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Schmidt checked out well after throwing a live batting practice session Tuesday and will presumably report to an affiliate this weekend for what will mark his first game action since he underwent an internal brace procedure last July. While the Yankees haven't officially ruled out Schmidt coming back from the 60-day injured list as a starter, the expectation is that he'll be preparing for a return in a multi-inning relief role during his rehab assignment.

McNeil is not in the Athletics' starting lineup against the Twins on Wednesday.

McNeil will take a breather after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Tuesday's 4-2 win over Minnesota. Tommy White will start at first base and bat fifth against Twins southpaw Connor Prielipp.
