Garver will start at designated hitter and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Garver will stay in the lineup for the fifth time in six games, but his uptick in playing time has mostly been a byproduct of Seattle facing five left-handed starting pitchers during that stretch. The 34-year-old is slashing just .179/.263/.274 with a 33.9 percent strikeout rate over 118 plate appearances versus righties this season, so he doesn't have much of a case to move outside of his current short-side platoon role.

Young is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

The left-handed-hitting Young had started in each of Seattle's last three games, but he'll head to the bench Sunday while the Athletics send southpaw Jacob Lopez to the hill. Jorge Polanco will replace Young at second base and will bat seventh.

Canzone (arm) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Canzone was hit by a pitch on the left arm Monday and has yet to rejoin Seattle's lineup despite having X-rays come back negative. According to MLB.com, the outfielder was able to take swings Friday and has apparently been available off the bench versus the Athletics, though he has yet to see the field.

Urias is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Urias will take a seat for the third time in four games and appears to have moved into a utility infield role in the wake of Jacob Wilson's recent return from the injured list. With Wilson taking back control of an everyday role at shortstop, the Athletics seem to be prioritizing Darell Hernaiz and Brett Harris over Urias at second and third base, respectively.

Bleday is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

The left-handed-hitting Bleday is on the bench for the third time in four matchups with right-handed pitchers and looks to have lost hold of a strong-side platoon role in the Athletics outfield. Until Denzel Clarke (adductor) returns from the injured list, the Athletics may continue to take a committee approach to right field rather than relying on Bleday or another player on an everyday basis.

O'Hoppe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

O'Hoppe will get some rest for Sunday's matinee after he had started behind the plate in both of the previous two contests. Travis d'Arnaud will form a battery with starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks in the series finale versus Chicago.

D'Arnaud will start at catcher and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Cubs.

With No. 1 backstop Logan O'Hoppe getting a breather for the series finale after starting at catcher Friday and Saturday, d'Arnaud will receive a turn behind the dish Sunday. Since the All-Star break, d'Arnaud is hitting a lowly .091/.216/.136 with zero home runs, zero steals, one RBI and three runs in 16 games.

Moncada is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

After starting each of the past five games and going 4-for-20 with three solo home runs, Moncada will receive a breather for the series finale. Luis Rengifo will step in for Moncada at third base and will bat fifth.

Schanuel (wrist) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

According to Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register, Schanuel is unlikely to be available off the bench for the series finale, as he's scheduled to undergo further tests Monday after leaving Saturday's 12-1 loss in the sixth inning due to a sore left wrist. Niko Kavadas will step in for Schanuel at first base in the series finale.

The Angels placed Mederos on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right shoulder inflammation.

Mederos made his third start of the season in Saturday's 12-1 loss to the Cubs and was the pitcher of record after yielding six earned runs on four hits and two walks across four innings. Following the game, Mederos told Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register that his shoulder felt off toward the end of his start, and the Angels decided to deactivate him while they look to glean more information about the injury. Mederos is expected to undergo an MRI in the coming days before the Angels provide a potential timeline for his return. Caden Dana delivered a 13-strikeout gem in his most recent start with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday and could be a top candidate to step in for Mederos the next time his turn in the rotation comes up.
