The Yankees will call up Lombard from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.

The top prospect in the Yankees' farm system, Lombard will be headed to the majors while the big club makes some significant changes to the roster following Monday's 13-7 loss. In order to clear a spot for Lombard, the Yankees will option four players to the minors, including shortstop Anthony Volpe and outfielder Jasson Dominguez. The 20-year-old Lombard earned the call to the big leagues after slashing .268/.405/.440 with six home runs and 10 stolen bases across 262 plate appearances for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since being elevated from Double-A Somerset on April 29. Lombard is likely to settle in as New York's everyday shortstop while Jose Caballero shifts into more of a utility role.

The Astros optioned Spence to Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday.

Spence had already begun to cede more starts in center field to Taylor Trammell over the past week, and the rookie's playing-time outlook would have worsened had he stuck around after the Astros acquired Daulton Varsho on Monday. The Astros have thus elected to send Spence back to Sugar Land, where he'll get the chance to play regularly. During his first taste of the big leagues, Spence slashed just .162/.244/.189 with a 36.6 percent strikeout rate over 41 plate appearances.

Wade is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays.

Wade will take a seat for a second straight matchup versus a right-handed starting pitcher (Shane Bieber) and appears headed for a role reduction after the Astros bolstered their outfield by acquiring Daulton Varsho from the Blue Jays on Monday. Varsho will enter the lineup right away Monday, covering center field while Taylor Trammell and Cam Smith flank him in the corner spots. Since being reinstated from the injured list July 4, Wade is batting just .167 with one home run, 10 RBI and eight runs in 20 games.

Varsho will start in center field and bat cleanup in his Astros debut Monday versus the Blue Jays.

A little under two hours before Monday's trade deadline, the Astros acquired Varsho from the Blue Jays in exchange for right-hander Spencer Arrighetti (foot). Because the Astros are opening a three-game series in Toronto on Monday, Varsho didn't have to travel to meet up with his new team and will enter the starting nine right away. Manager Joe Espada told Chandler Rome of The Athletic prior to Monday's contest that he plans for Varsho to hit in the middle of the order while serving as the Astros' everyday center field.

Diaz is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Giants.

Diaz will get a breather after he started behind the plate in the final two games of the Rangers' weekend series in Houston. Austin Wynn will handle catching duties Monday.

The Angels acquired Robinson from the Pirates on Monday in exchange for right-hander Kirby Yates.

Robinson will be on the move for the second time this season, after the Pirates previously acquired him from the Athletics in May. The 23-year-old righty has cobbled together a 4.55 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 78:34 K:BB in 83 innings across stops at the Single-A, High-A and Double-A levels this season. He'll begin his time in the Angels organization at Double-A Rocket City.

The Dodgers acquired Kmatz and catcher Hunter Feduccia from the Rays on Monday in exchange for Jack Suwinksi and international bonus pool space.

A 23-year-old righty reliever, Kmatz had a 2.89 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 74:10 K:BB in 53 innings at Double-A Montgomery this season. Kmatz will likely report to the Dodgers' Double-A affiliate in Tulsa.

The Rays acquired Suwinski and international bonus pool space from the Dodgers on Monday in exchange for catcher Hunter Feduccia and right-hander Jacob Kmatz.

Tampa Bay should be a welcome change of scenery for Suwinski, as he was unlikely to receive an opportunity in the big leagues with the Dodgers anytime soon. The 28-year-old outfielder has slashed .291/.386/.562 with 21 home runs and a 22.1 percent strikeout rate in 93 games in the Pacific Coast League this season.

With the Tigers trading both Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize before Monday's trade deadline, Melton appears set as a top-of-the-rotation starter the rest of the season and potentially into 2027.

Detroit traded away two of its most established starting pitchers, leaving veteran Framber Valdez along with Keider Montero as currently healthy options along with Melton. Jackson Jobe (elbow) and Jack Flaherty (forearm) should return at some point, but Melton has done more than enough to lock down a spot at the top of the rotation the rest of this season, particularly with Skubal and Mize now out of the picture. In 11 starts, the 25-year-old righty has posted a stellar 1.75 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 60 strikeouts across 67 innings, and he could carry a ton of momentum into 2027 if he keeps up his current pace.

The Rays selected Piper's contract from Double-A Montgomery on Monday. He'll start at catcher and bat eighth in the series opener against the Rockies.

The Rays traded Hunter Feduccia to the Dodgers on Monday, and while they also brought in Liam Hicks from the Marlins, Hicks won't be able to join the team in time for Monday's game. As a result, Piper was brought aboard to give the Rays another option beyond Nick Fortes at catcher, though Piper could be sent back to the minors as soon as Hicks joins the team. Piper, 28, has slashed .253/.358/.498 with 11 home runs and 11 steals in 64 games at Double-A this season.
