Mayo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

He'll take a seat against right-hander Zack Wheeler, ending a streak of five straight starts at either third base or DH. The Orioles faced three right-handers and two lefties during that stretch, as Mayo went 4-for-16 with one home run, two walks, five RBI and four runs, but also six strikeouts. Christian Encarnacion-Strand will receive the nod at third base Sunday, but Mayo still looks like he could be in store for fairly steady playing time so long as he's performing adequately at the plate.

The Guardians optioned Dion to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday.

The left-hander spent most of June and July in the big leagues but has been shuttled between Triple-A and the majors a few times since the All-Star break. In his first taste of MLB this season, Dion has a 4.58 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 25:3 K:BB across 19.2 innings. Trade acquisition Craig Yoho will fill the vacated roster spot for Cleveland.

Walls is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Walls was recently left out of the lineup for four straight games while he dealt with a couple of hyperextended fingers on his left hand, but he was able to start in each of the Rays' ensuing five contests. However, after going 0-for-13 with a walk and five strikeouts during that stretch, Walls will take a seat for the series finale and will get a chance to clear his head. Ben Williamson will replace Walls at shortstop and will bat seventh.

Mesa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The left-handed hitter will retreat to the bench for the series finale while southpaw Anthony Kay toes the rubber for the White Sox. Jonny DeLuca will replace Mesa in right field and bat sixth.

Perez followed Jac Caglianone's two-run homer with a solo shot in the third inning as the Royals went back-to-back to build an early 4-0 lead they ultimately couldn't hold. The veteran catcher appears to be in the twilight of his Hall of Fame career, as his .638 OPS through 104 games would represent a career worst, but he's shown signs of turning things around of late. Since July 1, Perez is slashing .264/.333/.538 with six homers, 16 RBI and 11 runs scored across 24 contests.

Sogard started at first base and went 0-for-2 with a walk in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Dodgers.

Sogard filled in for the injured Willson Contreras, who is in the concussion protocol. Sogard's stint at first is expected to be a short one, as Boston interim manager Chad Tracy told Tim Healy of The Boston Globe that Contreras is expected to play Sunday barring a setback.

The Twins transferred Paredes (oblique) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Saturday.

Shortly after his initial placement on the IL, Paredes was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left oblique strain, per MLB.com. After shifting to the 60-day IL to clear a 40-man roster spot for the newly acquired Dean Kremer, Paredes won't be eligible to rejoin Minnesota until Sept. 21.

Caglianone went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 12-6 loss to the Rockies.

Caglianone launched a Ryan Feltner curveball over the right-field wall in the third inning to give the Royals an early 3-0 lead, though the pitching staff ultimately melted down at Coors Field. The 23-year-old has homered in two of the past three games but has otherwise struggled since the All-Star break, slashing .188/.220/.417 over his past 13 contests. On the year, Caglianone has a .251/.308/.455 line with 18 homers, 42 RBI, 48 runs and three stolen bases across 103 games.
