Silseth (1-1) allowed an unearned run on a hit with two strikeouts and a walk over one inning to take the loss Wednesday against the A's.

Silseth entered in the 10th inning with the game tied at 5-5 and was unable to prevent the automatic runner from crossing the plate. Despite picking up his first loss, Silseth hasn't allowed an earned run since April 25, although he has a worrisome 1.42 WHIP and 6:5 K:BB over 6.1 innings during that span. His 2.16 ERA through 21 appearances this season is strong, but a 1.62 WHIP and 16:13 K:BB offer a less encouraging outlook.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Thursday that Verlander (hip) is "inching forward more than sprinting forward" with his rehab, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Verlander completed a four-inning, 62-pitch simulated game Wednesday and is slated to face hitters again next week after doing some throwing this weekend. Hinch noted that the veteran hurler has taken "no steps back" but added that Verlander is not yet ready to face major-league hitters. It seems the 43-year-old could still be at least a couple weeks away from rejoining the Tigers' rotation. Verlander is working his way back from left hip inflammation.

Strahm received an injection Monday to help with symptoms of right knee inflammation, MLB.com reports.

Strahm was placed on the injured list Saturday after patellar tendinitis flared up during his outing Friday. While a formal recovery timeline hasn't been established, the southpaw plans to keep his arm in shape as much as possible while rehabbing his knee back to full strength. Before being shelved, Strahm logged 16.1 innings with a 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB in 2026.

Melton (elbow) could be activated from the 60-day injured list to pitch Sunday in Baltimore, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Melton has looked terrific on his rehab assignment, collecting a 1.54 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 16:2 K:BB in 11.2 innings covering four starts, three with Single-A Lakeland and one with Triple-A Toledo. He reached 63 pitches in his last outing Tuesday and sat in the mid- to upper-90s with his fastball. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said that Melton will travel with the team to Baltimore, but the skipper stressed that "no decision has been made yet" regarding when Melton will make his season debut. Melton does looks poised to make his next appearance in the majors, but it's still unclear whether that outing will come Sunday or early next week. If Melton doesn't start Sunday's game, Keider Montero would be in line to take the ball on regular rest. Melton has been out all season with a right elbow strain.

Barlow (1-0) earned the win in Wednesday's 6-5 victory over the Angels. He allowed no hits or walks with a hit-by-pitch while striking out one over a scoreless inning.

Barlow was called upon in the ninth inning to keep the contest tied and send it to extra innings, a task he accomplished after working around a leadoff hit-by-pitch to Vaughn Grissom. Courtesy of an RBI single from Tyler Soderstrom and a scoreless 10th frame from Hogan Harris, Barlow was credited with his first win of the campaign. He hasn't factored much into the save equation after blowing his lone opportunity March 28, but the right-hander has still pitched to a 3.09 ERA and 0.86 WHIP across 23.1 innings. Walks have been an issue for the veteran over the past couple of seasons and flared up early in the current campaign, though he has posted a 9:1 K:BB across nine innings in May.

Soderstrom went 2-for-5 with three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Angels.

Soderstrom was a key contributor in the Athletics' win, opening the scoring with a two-run single in the first inning before delivering what proved to be the game-winning hit with another RBI single in the 10th frame. Wednesday snapped an 11-game stretch without an RBI for the left fielder, who had gone just 4-for-41 (.098) during that span. After a breakout 2025 campaign in which he posted an .820 OPS across 158 games, Soderstrom hasn't yet clicked to the same degree in 2026, slashing .194/.276/.371 with five homers, 14 doubles, a triple, 23 RBI, 22 runs and a stolen base through 46 appearances.

Diaz went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 4-3 loss against the Red Sox.

Diaz put his club ahead with a two-run, 102.5 mph rocket over the left-center field wall in the fifth inning, though the bullpen would relinquish the lead as the Royals were unable to avoid being swept. As the third catcher on the roster behind Salvador Perez and Carter Jensen, playing opportunities for Diaz have been sporadic and limited. The veteran has gone 5-for-22 (.227) with four extra-base hits (two homers), five RBI and three runs scored across 10 appearances.

Skubal (elbow) threw a successful 35-pitch bullpen session Thursday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

It's at least the third time he's thrown from the mound since he had surgery just over two weeks ago to remove a loose body from his elbow. Skubal upped the intensity of his throwing Thursday and was able to reach the velocity goal he set prior to the session. The two-time Cy Young winner continues to make rapid progress and should be cleared to face hitters soon.

Curry will be promoted from High-A Hub City to Double-A Frisco on Thursday, Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston reports

Curry will make his way up to Double-A Frisco after seven starts with the Rangers' High-A affiliate. The 23-year-old posted a 3.48 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 31 innings during his time in Hub City this year.

Miles is expected to pitch in bulk relief behind opener Braydon Fisher in Thursday's game against the Yankees, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Though he's not yet been used as a traditional starter, Miles appears to have temporarily settled in as the fifth member of the Toronto rotation. While serving as an opening pitcher May 10 against the Angels and as a bulk reliever this past Saturday in Detroit, Miles covered 6.2 scoreless frames while striking out seven batters and allowing six baserunners. The rookie right-hander tossed a season-high 56 pitches his last time out, so the Blue Jays could have him build on that workload during Thursday's appearance.
