The Royals activated Kolek (personal) from the family medical emergency list Thursday.

Kolek was placed on the paternity list last week and shifted to the family medical emergency list Tuesday, but he will rejoin the Royals' rotation with a start Thursday against the Rays. The right-hander will be pitching on 10 days' rest, so it's not clear how sharp he will be or how big of a workload he'll be able to handle.

Scholtens (wrist) completed a 20-pitch bullpen session June 8 but is without a clear target date for a return, MLB.com reports.

The Rays haven't indicated that Scholtens suffered a setback following that bullpen session, but the lack of recent updates on his status likely suggests that his return from the 15-day injured list isn't imminent. Scholtens posted a 3.82 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 30:11 K:BB in 37.2 innings over nine appearances (two starts) for Tampa Bay before hitting the shelf May 26 due to a right wrist strain.

Nimmo (shoulder) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers.

Nimmo will remain on the bench for a fourth consecutive game while he continues to recover from an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder. While he sits, Alejandro Osuna, Cameron Cauley and Ezequiel Duran will form the Rangers' outfield trio.

Overn (undisclosed) has gone 4-for-9 with a home run, a double, three walks, two stolen bases, three RBI and two runs in two games for Double-A Montgomery since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.

After spending just over a month on the shelf due to the unspecified issue, Overn has hit the ground running since rejoining the Montgomery lineup. Acquired from the Orioles over the winter as part of the prospect haul the Rays received in the Shane Baz trade, Overn has enjoyed an outstanding first season in the organization. Through 40 games with Montgomery, Overn is slashing .317/.385/.553 with eight home runs and 30 steals.

Larson (elbow) has allowed four unearned runs on three hits and one walk while striking out five over 2.2 innings through his first two starts in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

The pair of appearances are Larson's first in the professional ranks, as the 20-year-old lefty didn't pitch after being drafted out of high school in 2024, then missed the entire 2025 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery in February of that year. Prior to undergoing surgery, Larson's fastball sat around 93-to-94 mph, but velocity readings from his two starts in the ACL haven't been made available.

Adams (elbow) has posted a 5.74 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB in 15.2 innings over four starts with Triple-A Charlotte since being assigned to the affiliate after being activated from Double-A Birmingham's 60-day injured list June 11.

Adams made a fairly swift recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent April 2, 2025. He kicked off a rehab assignment just over 13 months after surgery, making five appearances between the rookie-level Arizona Complex League and High-A Winston-Salem before joining the Charlotte rotation. The 26-year-old righty is regarded as one of the White Sox's better upper-level starting pitching prospects, but he's not on the 40-man roster and is likely behind a few other arms in the pecking order for a call-up to the big club.

Gonzalez (lat) tossed a scoreless inning of relief Tuesday for Triple-A Charlotte after being reinstated from the 7-day injured list.

Gonzalez made his return to the Charlotte bullpen for the first time since late April after being shelved due to a right lat strain. The 24-year-old righty compiled a 6.75 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 8:1 K:BB in 5.1 innings over four rehab appearances between the White Sox's rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate and High-A Winston-Salem prior to returning from the IL.

Smith (shoulder) struck out two and allowed one hit and no walks over two innings Wednesday in a rehab start with High-A Winston-Salem.

An All-Star selection for the White Sox as a rookie Rule 5 Draft pick in 2025, Smith surrendered 10 earned runs over 8.2 innings over his first three starts this season before Chicago optioned him to Triple-A Charlotte on April 8. After making four starts for Charlotte, Smith was shelved May 2 due to a right rotator cuff strain, but he's closing in on a return to the Triple-A rotation nearly two months later. Smith could make another rehab start or two in the lower levels of the minors before Charlotte activates him.

Shewmake (adductor) has gone 3-for-9 with two doubles, three walks, one stolen base, three runs and one RBI over three rehab games between the rookie-level Florida Complex League and Triple-A Sugar Land.

Shewmake began the minor-league assignment Saturday, appearing in two games in the FCL before moving to Triple-A on Wednesday. The 28-year-old is working his way back from a right adductor strain, which sent him to the injured list June 2. Once he's ready to rejoin Houston, Shewmake is likely to serve as a utility infielder.

Estevez (shoulder) received an injection Wednesday and will be shut down for the rest of the week before being re-evaluated, MLB.com reports.

Estevez had been making progress in recovery from a right rotator cuff strain, but he suffered a setback during Saturday's bullpen session. The Royals will allow the right-hander to rest following the injection before re-evaluating him and determining the next steps. Estevez made just one appearance this season before landing on the injured list due to a left foot contusion, eventually picking up the shoulder injury during a rehab appearance May 6.
