The Mets designated Garcia for assignment Sunday.

The veteran right-hander joined the Mets on a one-year, $1.75 million contract in January, but he's being let go after surrendering five earned runs on 11 hits with a 4:2 K:BB across his first 6.1 frames of the campaign. Garcia had a 3.42 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 58 appearances in 2025.

Tawa will start in left field and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Phillies.

The 27-year-old utility player will occupy left field for the fifth game in a row, but Arizona may not have room in its outfield for both Tawa and Jorge Barrosa once Corbin Carroll -- who is making a second straight start at designated hitter due to a minor hip issue -- is cleared to play defense. With a .393 OPS over 31 plate appearances on the season, Tawa hasn't done much to justify an everyday assignment in place of Jordan Lawlar (wrist), who will be on the shelf until at least early June.

The Mets recalled Gerber from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.

The 28-year-old failed to make New York's Opening Day roster but will get a look in the majors a couple weeks into the season. Gerber is taking the roster spot of Luis Garcia, who was designated for assignment in a corresponding move, and should fill a low-leverage relief role.

McCann will start at catcher and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Phillies.

With Gabriel Moreno (back) expected to be placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, McCann is poised to see extra work while splitting time behind the plate with Adrian Del Castillo. After producing a .755 OPS in 42 games for the Diamondbacks in 2025, McCann has struggled out of the gate this season, going 2-for-16 with a 1:6 BB:K in seven contests.

Stephenson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Stephenson went 1-for-5 with three walks across the first two games of the series and will take a seat for Sunday's finale. P.J. Higgins will step in behind the plate to catch for lefty Andrew Abbott.

Schmitt will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Orioles, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Schmitt has yet to play defense since experiencing back tightness late last week, but after making some progress in his recovery, he's been able to reclaim a regular role at DH. He'll be making his fourth start in five games after doubling four times and adding a single in 12 at-bats over his previous three contests.

Bader is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Jung Hoo Lee will slide over from his usual spot in right field to cover center in place of Bader, who will sit for the second time in four games. Bader has gotten off to a sluggish start to his first season with San Francisco, slashing just .115/.145/.192 with one home run, zero steals, three RBI and four runs across 55 plate appearances.

Benson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

After beginning the season with starts in Cincinnati's first five games against right-handed pitching, Benson finds himself on the bench Sunday for the fourth time in the past six contests, all of which have been versus righties. Noelvi Marte is starting in right field and batting eighth in the series finale versus the Halos and appears to be the Reds' preferred option at the position.

Bailey is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Daniel Susac will get the call behind the plate for the series finale while Bailey rests for the day game after a night game. Bailey has shouldered one of the heavier workloads among all catchers so far this season, making starts in 13 of the Giants' first 16 games.

Hayes is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Hayes started the first two contests of the series versus the Halos and will take a seat for Sunday's finale with his hitless streak now extended to five games. Eugenio Suarez will step in at third base while Nathaniel Lowe receives a start at designated hitter.
