Weathers (lat) struck out six and allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks over 2.2 innings in his rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.

Taking the hill for the first time since June 7, Weathers fell just short of reaching his target of three innings, but he was still able to toss 60 pitches while generating 11 swinging strikes. Per MLB.com, Weathers is expected to make one additional start in the minors before slotting back into the Miami rotation.

Triple-A Jacksonville placed Cronin on the 7-day injured list Aug. 17 due to an undisclosed injury.

Cronin made 56 appearances out of the Miami bullpen in 2024, but he's pitched exclusively in the minors this season. Before getting shut down at Triple-A, Cronin had submitted a 4.91 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 21:16 K:BB in 22 innings.

Hayes went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Cardinals.

Hayes had a couple of run-scoring singles in the game and is doing his best to dispel the notion that he's all glove and no bat. Since joining the Reds at the trade deadline, Hayes has a .756 OPS with 10 extra-base hits (three home runs), nine RBI, two steals and 12 runs scored over 28 games. One thing to monitor is how the Reds plan to use top prospect and third baseman Sal Stewart, who is expected to be called up Monday. Stewart may play some third base, but he's recently been given work at second base and is an ideal fit at DH.

McLain went 1-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run in Sunday's 7-4 win over St. Louis.

McLain gave the Reds insurance in the eighth inning, when he knocked his 13th homer and second in as many days. It's been a trying season for the middle infielder, who's batting .222 for the season and spent a good deal of the first half below the Mendoza Line (.200). His playing time may take a hit with the expected arrival of top prospect Sal Stewart, who came through the system as a third baseman but has been introduced to second base this season.

Hays went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Cardinals.

Hays provided the big pop with a two-run home run in the fifth inning that broke a 3-3 tie and turned out to be the game-winning blow. It was the 12th homer in 85 games for Hays, who has bounced back nicely following a down season in 2024, when he posted a career-low .699 OPS with five homers in 85 games.

Lawlar started at third base and went 0-for-4 in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Dodgers.

Lawlar was back in the lineup after getting a day off Saturday. The right-handed batter has made two starts since his recent call-up, once against a lefty and Sunday's start against a righty. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said over the weekend that he will mix-and-match Lawlar and Blaze Alexander at third base against righties but will use Lawlar against all lefties. He had a couple more strikeouts Sunday, upping his count to 14 over 30 plate appearances (46.7 percent) this season.

Marte started at designated hitter for a third consecutive game and went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Dodgers.

It appears manager Torey Lovullo is managing Marte, who has no reported injury. Tender hamstrings have been a recurring feature throughout Marte's career, and he missed a month of action earlier this season because of a hamstring issue. Having him DH appears to be a ploy that can get his bat in the lineup while also giving younger players, like Jordan Lawlar and Blaze Alexander, plate appearances.

Del Castillo started at catcher and went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Dodgers.

Del Castillo was back in the starting nine after three straight games on the bench. With James McCann tending to a sore back, Del Castillo moves up the ladder to primary backup behind Gabriel Moreno. This was Del Castillo's fourth start behind the plate since being called up after the All-Star break.

Thompson (shoulder) struck out a batter over a perfect inning during his rehab appearance for Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Friday's rehab outing was Thompson's second of the week, and Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo indicated Saturday that the reliever is likely to be activated when rosters expand Monday, per MLB.com. The right-hander has been on the 15-day injured list since July 6 due to a left trapezius strain.

Tucker went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored during Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Rockies.

Tucker has been on a tear lately, notching a hit in eight of his last nine games and posting multiple hits in three of his last four. During that nine-game stretch, Tucker is 14-for-32 with three home runs, four doubles and a 6:8 BB:K. The 28-year-old is slashing .270/.383/.470 in 2025, and his on-base percentage would be the second best of his career.
