Pham went 1-for-3 with a two-run double and a run scored during the Pirates' 4-2 win over the Red Sox on Friday.

Pham got the Pirates on the board in the sixth inning with a double to center field that plated two, and he was brought home one batter later on an Andrew McCutchen RBI double. Pham has recorded at least one hit in seven of his last eight games, and over that span he has gone 9-for-28 (.321) with one steal, two home runs and nine RBI.

Santana collected the save in Friday's 4-2 win over the Red Sox, allowing one walk while striking out two batters in one scoreless inning.

Santana was brought in for the ninth to protect the Pirates' two-run lead. He yielded a walk to Nick Sogard, but Santana rebounded by striking out Ceddanne Rafaela before getting Connor Wong to pop out to first base. Santana has converted each of his last five save opportunities and has yielded just one earned run over his last nine innings.

Skenes (9-9) earned the win against the Red Sox on Friday, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out six across six innings.

The seven hits allowed tied a season high, but Skenes was able to limit the damage to two runs, with the one earned coming on a Roman Anthony solo shot in fifth inning. Skenes was in danger of taking his 10th loss of the season, but the Pirates scored three runs in the sixth to put the ace in line for the win. Skenes has yielded two earned runs or less in nine of his last 11 starts since July 1, and over that span he's posted a 1.92 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over 61 innings. He leads all qualified starters this season with a 2.05 ERA, and his 187 strikeouts and 0.95 WHIP rank fourth and fifth, respectively. Skenes is lined up to face the Dodgers at home next week, when he'll look for his 10th win of the year.

Simon was removed from Friday's game against the Red Sox due to a left shoulder injury.

Simon appeared to dislocate his shoulder while sliding into home plate during the eighth inning of Friday's contest. It remains to be seen whether he will need to spend time on the injured list, but the Pirates should provide more information after they take a closer look at him.

Moreno will start at catcher and bat fifth against the Dodgers on Friday.

James McCann (undisclosed) was scratched from the D-backs' lineup shortly before first pitch Friday, so Moreno -- originally scheduled for a day off -- will step into the lineup to catch for right-hander Zac Gallen. The 25-year-old backstop has produced four multi-hit performances and owns a 1.123 OPS in five games since returning from the injured list Aug. 20.

McCann was scratched from the lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Dodgers.

The Diamondbacks haven't provided a reason as to why McCann was taken out of the starting nine, but the team should offer some clarity in the near future. In the meantime, Gabriel Moreno will catch for starter Zac Gallen and bat fifth.

Rodriguez (elbow) will decide this weekend whether to undergo Tommy John surgery, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Rodriguez landed on the 15-day IL on Tuesday (retroactive to Saturday) due to a right elbow issue, and after consulting multiple doctors, the injury is believed to be severe enough for Tommy John surgery to be recommended. The 25-year-old is expected to make his decision this weekend, but surgery would keep him out of action for the entire 2026 season. The Giants are using Ryan Walker as the closer down the stretch.

Muncy (oblique) did not participate in baseball activities and was sent home Friday due to an illness, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

It's a slight setback for Muncy, who continues to rehab from a right oblique strain that landed him on the 10-day injured list Aug. 15. He's expected to embark on a rehab assignment next week, and the veteran third baseman is targeting a return from the IL during the Dodgers' weekend road series against the Orioles starting Friday, Sept. 5.

Kelly isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies.

The 31-year-old will surrender a second consecutive start at catcher to Reese McGuire on Friday after having started three straight games behind the dish. Kelly has been in a bit of a slump lately, slashing just .224/.288/.224 with six RBI and two runs scored in 21 games since Aug. 1.

Merrill (ankle) is getting live at-bats at the Padres' rookie-level affiliate in Arizona and is targeting a return during a three-game series against the Orioles that begins Monday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports Friday.

Merrill becomes eligible for reinstatement Saturday, but he'll need a few extra days before rejoining the Padres' active roster after sustaining a sprained left ankle. While he's been sidelined, Ramon Laureano has handled most of the work in center field, while Gavin Sheets has moved into an everyday left field role.
