Goodman is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros.

Braxton Fulford will get the nod behind the plate while Goodman gets some rest in a day game after a night game. Goodman has stayed productive in August in the midst of his breakout season, slashing .247/.310/.558 with seven home runs, 16 RBI, and 12 runs through 22 games on the month.

McCutchen is absent from the lineup for Thursday's tilt in St. Louis.

McCutchen will get a routine day off after starting in the previous two games and five of the last six contests. Bryan Reynolds will serve as the Pirates' designated hitter Thursday, while Jack Suwinski will man right field.

Davis is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in St. Louis.

Davis started at catcher in each of the previous two games, so he'll get some rest during Thursday's matinee. Joey Bart is behind the dish and batting sixth for the Pirates.

Triolo is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in St. Louis.

Triolo saw his streak of five straight multi-hit games come to an end during Wednesday's 2-1 win, though he drew two walks and scored a run. With Triolo getting a day off Thursday, the Pirates will turn to Liover Peguero at shortstop.

Smith (quadriceps) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers.

After exiting early in Wednesday's 3-2 win due to left quad tightness, Smith will take a seat for Thursday's matinee contest. The Diamondbacks seem to be classifying Smith as day-to-day, and even if he had emerged from Wednesday's contest without an injury, he likely would have been in line to sit Thursday since the Brewers are sending a lefty starter (Jose Quintana) to the bump. Tyler Locklear will get the nod at first base in the series finale.

Nimmo went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Phillies.

The veteran outfielder was dealing with a neck issue last weekend, but Nimmo seemed plenty healthy Wednesday as he rattled off his first three-hit performance since Aug. 2. Over his last 12 contests, sandwiched around a three-game absence, he's slashing .349/.388/.465 with two doubles, a homer, eight RBI and nine runs.

The Rockies will activate Marquez (biceps) from the 15-day injured list to start Friday's game against the Cubs at Coors Field, MLB.com reports.

Marquez has been on the shelf since July 23 due to right biceps tendinitis, but he was cleared to rejoin the Colorado rotation after he completed a bullpen session Wednesday without incident. Before linking back up with the Rockies this week, Marquez completed two rehab starts for Triple-A Albuquerque. He most recently pitched for Albuquerque on Sunday, striking out seven and allowing two earned runs on five hits and one walk over 4.1 innings (76 pitches). To make room for Marquez in the rotation, Colorado moved Antonio Senzatela to the bullpen earlier this week.

Pages is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates.

Pages started at catcher in the Cardinals' 2-1 loss Wednesday's night, so he'll get a breather for Thursday's matinee. Yohel Pozo will fill in behind the plate and bat ninth for the Cardinals in the series finale.

Fraley went 3-for-5 with a double in Wednesday's win over the Marlins.

Batting eighth and getting the start in right field while Ronald Acuna received a partial breather as the designated hitter, Fraley led his new team with three knocks, although he didn't directly contribute to a 12-run eruption from the Atlanta offense. Fraley likely won't see consistent playing time with Acuna, Michael Harris and Jurickson Profar all locked into everyday roles in the outfield and the roster already having plenty of DH options, but he offers a strong bench bat against right-handed pitching -- since the start of the 2023 campaign, Fraley boasts a .772 OPS, 25 homers and 40 steals in 854 plate appearances in that split.

Harris went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Marlins.

Atlanta launched five homers on the afternoon in a 12-1 rout, and Harris contributed to the barrage with a two-run shot off Freddy Tarnok in the sixth inning. Harris is up to 17 homers on the season, two shy of his career high, and eight of them have come in his last 21 games -- a stretch in which he's delivered a .326/.341/.651 slash line with three steals, 14 runs and 21 RBI.
