DeSclafani is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Padres at Chase Field.

After working out of the bullpen in each of his previous three appearances, DeSclafani joined the Arizona rotation this past weekend as a replacement for Merrill Kelly, who was shipped to the Rangers ahead of the trade deadline. While making his first start for Arizona since July 6 on Friday in Sacramento, DeSclafani was dealt a loss while giving up four earned runs on five hits and three walks over 2.1 innings against the Athletics. Despite the rough showing, DeSclafani will get at least one more chance to solidify his spot in the Arizona rotation. Another poor outing, however, could prompt the Diamondbacks to go in a different direction with their No. 5 starter.

Iglesias gave up two hits and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Sunday to record his 14th save of the season in a win over the Reds.

Atlanta surprisingly didn't move Iglesias at the trade deadline despite an overheated market for late-inning relievers, and he's rewarded the team by collecting saves in back-to-back appearances since. The veteran right-hander has been scored upon only twice in his last 22 outings, posting a 2.18 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 24:4 K:BB through 20.2 innings over that stretch while converting six of seven save chances.

The Nationals will recall Poulin from Triple-A Rochester, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

Poulin was claimed off waivers from the Tigers on Sunday and is poised to report to the big-league roster. The southpaw has collected a 3.38 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 62:17 K:BB across 42.2 innings this season at the Triple-A level.

The Nationals will recall Beeter from Triple-A Rochester, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

Acquired from the Yankees in the Amed Rosario trade, Beeter has had an uneven 2025 season. He's been rocked for six runs with a 1:4 K:BB over 3.2 innings at the big-league level and held a 3.70 ERA and 40:20 K:BB over 24.1 frames during his time at Triple-A. The Nationals have a lot of uncertainty in their bullpen right now, so Beeter could work his way into a high-leverage role if he's able to throw enough strikes.

Ohtani is listed as the Dodgers' starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals in Los Angeles, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

In his seventh start of the season as a pitcher last Wednesday in Cincinnati, Ohtani was expected to cover four innings but was lifted after three frames due to lower-body cramps. Ohtani was able to remain in that game as the Dodgers' designated hitter, and he proceeded to serve as the DH in the team's ensuing three contests. The cramping problem apparently didn't affect Ohtani's between-starts throwing program either, so he'll be ready to return to the mound Wednesday as planned on six days' rest. The Dodgers aren't expected to use a designated bulk reliever behind Ohtani, though the right-hander will likely be capped at four innings as the team continues to stretch him back out slowly coming off his second career Tommy John surgery in September 2023.

Making his first professional start at third base, Wetherholt went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and three RBI in Sunday's game with Triple-A Memphis.

Wetherholt has been fantastic since his promotion to Memphis in early July, slashing .344/.425/.754 with six home runs, two stolen bases and an 8:9 K:BB over 73 plate appearances covering 16 games. The top prospect is sporting a .310/.425/.528 batting line with 13 long balls and 16 steals this season between Double-A Springfield and Memphis. The timing of Wetherholt's first pro start at the hot corner is interesting, given that Nolan Arenado (shoulder) landed on the 10-day injured list this past Friday and it's unclear when he might return. Wetherholt is pushing for a major-league debut during his first full pro season.

Atlanta recalled Ornelas from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.

Just one day after being swapped off the active roster, Ornelas will rejoin Atlanta to replace outfielder Jarred Kelenic, who was optioned to Triple-A as part of a series of moves Monday. Ornelas is capable of playing three infield spots and can handle spot duty in the outfield. The 25-year-old has slashed .202/.320/.300 with six home runs and six steals in 79 games at Triple-A this season.

Atlanta optioned Kelenic to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.

Kelenic had been recalled last week but didn't receive a single plate appearance during his stint with the big club. He's being replaced on the 26-man roster by Jonathan Ornelas, who was recalled from Gwinnett.

Atlanta recalled Alvarez from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.

Alvarez will head back to the big leagues after third baseman Austin Riley was placed on the 10-day injured list for the second time in just over three weeks due to a strained lower abdominal muscle. During Riley's first stint on the IL, Alvarez impressed defensively but slashed just .200/.250/.233 with a 1:9 BB:K, two runs and no RBI in eight games. He should settle back in as the team's primary option at the hot corner while Riley is out, but fantasy expectations for the 22-year-old should be low, given his struggles in his prior stint in the majors.

Atlanta placed Riley on the 10-day injured list Monday with a strained lower abdominal muscle.

Riley spent a couple weeks on the injured list in July with an abdominal strain and is now back on the IL after aggravating the injury Sunday. He will be eligible for activation Aug. 14, but Atlanta will likely be more cautious with his recovery this time around. Nacho Alvarez was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to step in as the everyday third baseman.
