  • Willi Castro 2B | COL

Rockies' Willi Castro: Makes early exit Thursday

Castro was removed from Thursday's game against the Padres with right knee soreness, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

It's unclear how Castro sustained the injury, but his knee was apparently bothering him enough to warrant his removal from Thursday's contest. Tyler Freeman entered as Castro's replacement and would be the favorite to pick up starts at second base if the latter has to miss time.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Homers, drives in four

Albies went 3-for-4 with with a homer, an additional run scored and four total RBI in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Nationals.

It's the first multi-RBI game of the season for Albies -- he capped the scoring Thursday with his fifth homer of the season in the ninth inning off Julian Fernandez. Albies' big day also extended his hit streak to six games, and he's gone 9-for-23 (.391) in that span. The veteran second baseman has gotten off to a strong start this year, slashing .297/.342/.475 with 15 RBI and 18 runs scored across 111 plate appearances.

  • Esteury Ruiz RF | MIA

Marlins' Esteury Ruiz: Activated from IL

The Marlins activated Ruiz (oblique) from the injured list Thursday.

A left oblique strain has kept Ruiz on the injured list since Opening Day, but he began playing in rehab games at Triple-A Jacksonville on April 15 and has now been cleared to rejoin the big club. The 27-year-old outfielder owns a .639 OPS in his MLB career and will likely see most of his opportunities against left-handed starters while with Miami. Austin Slater was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Cade Cavalli SP | WAS

Nationals' Cade Cavalli: Strikes out 10 in no-decision

Cavalli did not factor into the decision Thursday against Atlanta. He allowed two runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out 10 over five-plus innings.

While Cavalli failed to get in the win column Thursday, the right-hander turned in one of his better starts of the season, setting a career-high with 10 strikeouts. Still, the right-hander has struggled to go deep into games early in the season, completing at least six innings just once in six outings. Overall, Cavalli sports a 4.01 ERA with a 1.66 WHIP and 28:12 K:BB across 24.2 innings this year. He's currently slated for a road matchup with the Mets his next time out.

  • JR Ritchie SP | ATL

Braves' JR Ritchie: Grabs win in debut

Ritchie (1-0) earned the win Thursday over the Nationals, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out seven.

It was an impressive major-league debut for the 22-year-old Ritchie, who needed just 89 pitches to get through seven innings while holding Washington to a pair of solo home runs (one of which came on his first pitch of the game to James Wood). While Ritchie could return to the minors with Spencer Strider (oblique) expected to return next weekend, the rookie top prospect made a strong case for a longer look in the rotation. Ritchie posted a stellar 0.99 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP and 28:13 K:BB across five starts (27.1 innings) with Triple-A Gwinnett this season.

  • Austin Warren RP | NYM

Mets' Austin Warren: Back in minors

The Mets optioned Warren to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.

After being recalled from Triple-A on April 14, Warren made two appearances out of the bullpen and gave up one earned run on two hits and no walks while striking out four batters in 1.2 innings. The 30-year-old will now return to Syracuse to work as organizational bullpen depth, clearing space on the active roster for Christian Scott, who will start Thursday's game against Minnesota.

  • Mets' Christian Scott: Promoted ahead of start

The Mets recalled Scott from Triple-A Syracuse ahead of his start against the Twins on Thursday.

Scott owns a 5.27 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through 13.2 innings at Triple-A, but he's given up just two earned runs in 10.1 frames across his last two starts. He'll now return to the Mets' rotation for the first time since 2024 -- he spent all of 2025 recovering from Tommy John surgery -- and face a Twins offense that is batting just .227 through its first 24 games. Austin Warren was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Ronny Mauricio 2B | NYM

Mets' Ronny Mauricio: Recalled, starting at shortstop

The Mets recalled Mauricio from Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday.

Mauricio is taking the roster spot vacated by the injured Francisco Lindor (calf) and is starting at shortstop and batting eighth in Thursday's game versus the Twins. Per Joel Sherman of the New York Post, manager Carlos Mendoza said Mauricio will see the majority of the playing time at the position while Lindor is shelved. The switch-hitting Mauricio had a three-homer game with Syracuse earlier this week and has gone deep a total of five times over his last five contests at the Mets' top minor-league affiliate.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Placed on IL with calf strain

The Mets placed Lindor on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a left calf strain.

It's another tough break for the Mets, as they'll now lose Lindor to a strained calf after just getting Juan Soto back from his own calf strain. Per Joel Sherman of the New York Post, manager Carlos Mendoza said that Lindor's strain is worse than Soto's was, so Lindor's absence is likely to last longer than the two-and-a-half weeks Soto was out. Ronny Mauricio is up from Triple-A Syracuse and will fill in as the Mets' primary shortstop until Lindor returns.

  • Michael Harris CF | ATL

Braves' Michael Harris: Exits game with quad tightness

Harris was removed from Thursday's game against the Nationals in the seventh inning due to left quad tightness.

Harris doubled in a run in the top of the seventh inning but was then seen stretching out his left leg after advancing to third base on a single. He was removed from the game before the bottom of the frame. Atlanta is saying Harris' exit was precautionary, and the outfielder said after the game that he expects to play Friday versus the Phillies, per Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Harris finished Thursday's tilt having gone 3-for-4 with two RBI, and he's batting .447 with five home runs across his last 11 games. If Harris misses some time, Eli White would receive an uptick in playing time.
