Gibson has joined the Orioles' taxi squad and is expected to be formally recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to start either Wednesday versus the Rays or Thursday against the Blue Jays, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Chris Bassitt is lined up to take the ball on whichever of the two days Gibson doesn't start. In one start and one relief outing for the Orioles this season, Gibson has posted a 5.40 ERA and 4:3 K:BB over 6.2 innings. The Orioles need a spot starter after having a doubleheader this past weekend, and Gibson is likely to be sent back down following the outing.

Griffin will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Tuesday's game against the Cubs.

The right-handed-hitting Griffin has hit second a few times versus lefties, but this will be his first-ever start in the leadoff spot. Griffin enters play Tuesday in a mini slump, having picked up only one hit across his last four contests.

Skubal (elbow) threw 39 pitches over 2.2 innings in a simulated game Tuesday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Skubal struck out three and served up a home run to Jahmai Jones in what was his first time facing hitters since he underwent surgery earlier this month to remove a loose body from his left elbow. Per Evan Woodbery of MLive.com, manager A.J. Hinch said that the two-time Cy Young Award winner is slated to throw another live batting practice session in five days, and Skubal will require at least one minor-league rehab start after that before being activated from the injured list. Skubal continues to make a swift recovery and appears to be tracking toward a return to the Detroit rotation within the next few weeks.

The White Sox selected Sandlin's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

Chicago placed Noah Schultz (knee) on the 15-day injured list in the corresponding move, and the White Sox intend to have Sandlin replace him in the rotation beginning with Wednesday's game against the Twins at Rate Field, per James Fegan of SoxMachine.com. Acquired from the Red Sox during the offseason, Sandlin's organizational debut was delayed until late April while he recovered from a sore elbow, but he was highly productive over a four-start stretch at Charlotte (0.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB in 12 innings). Sandlin didn't cover more than four innings in any of those starts, however, so he'll likely be limited from a workload standpoint Wednesday in his MLB debut.

The Mets selected Wagaman's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.

Wagaman has swung a hot bat lately at Syracuse, going 13-for-27 with two home runs over his last eight games. The 28-year-old is likely to see some starts against left-handed pitching.

The Mets placed Taylor on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a right hip flexor strain.

Taylor was injured while running out a grounder in Monday's loss to the Reds. Per Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record, manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that the team received relatively good news regarding Taylor's MRI, and the outfielder could return in as little as 2-to-3 weeks if all goes well.

The Mets optioned Pintaro to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.

Pintaro made a couple scoreless appearances for the Mets but will now return to the minors. A.J. Minter (lat) is back from injury to take Pintaro's spot on the roster and in the bullpen.

The Mets optioned Morabito to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.

Morabito had a rough introduction to the big leagues, going 0-for-11 with nine strikeouts. He'll return to Syracuse, where he's slashed .253/.364/.390 with four home runs and 14 stolen bases across 41 contests this season.

Soto (illness) will start at designated hitter and bat third in Tuesday's game against the Reds.

Soto missed the last two contests while dealing with the flu, but he's feeling well enough to hit Tuesday. He will enter play Tuesday having homered six times over his past 10 games.

The Mets activated Young (knee) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Young had meniscus surgery in mid-April and is ready to return after going 5-for-22 at the plate in six rehab contests. The left-handed hitter went 7-for-20 for the Mets before getting hurt and should see a decent amount of playing time against righties. Young is starting at first base and batting fifth in Tuesday's game versus the Reds.
