Smith struck out the side in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his 13th save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Angels.

The right-hander carved up the heart of the Halos' order, fanning Jorge Soler, Oswald Peraza and Zach Neto on 14 pitches (nine strikes). Smith has converted 10 straight save chances dating back to April 16, posting a 1.54 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 18:1 K:BB over 11.2 innings during that stretch. His 13 saves now leads the majors.

Messick (5-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over the Angels, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out seven.

A fifth-inning cutter to Zach Neto wound up soaring over the left-field wall for a two-run homer, but it was the only real mistake Messick made en route to his fourth quality start of the season. The southpaw has allowed more than three runs in an outing only once so far in 2026, posting a 2.35 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 58:14 K:BB through 53.2 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Detroit.

Pena (hamstring) is dealing with neck soreness following a collision with a runner during a rehab game Tuesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Pena's neck prevented him from working as the DH in Double-A Corpus Christi's game Wednesday, but Astros manager Joe Espada didn't seem concerned about it becoming a long-term issue. The 28-year-old infielder is expected to return to minor-league action Thursday and could make his return to Houston's lineup sometime during the weekend series against Texas.

Neto went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Guardians.

The shortstop took Parker Messick deep in the fifth inning to account for all of the Angels' offense on the afternoon. Neto has hit safely in seven of the last eight games, going 9-for-31 (.290) over that stretch with four extra-base hits, five RBI and six runs. The surge has boosted his slash line on the season to .224/.330/.408 with seven homers, seven steals, 20 RBI and 29 runs in 44 contests.

Detmers (1-4) took the loss Wednesday, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings as the Angels were downed 4-2 by the Guardians. He struck out six.

A leadoff homer by Angel Martinez set the tone, but it was Detmers' inability to control Cleveland's running game with Sebastian Rivero behind the plate that proved just as costly -- the Guardians went 5-for-5 on steal attempts against the battery, with Martinez and Jose Ramirez each swiping two. Detmers was lifted after 102 pitches (60 strikes) and remains in search of his first win since April 14. He'll take a 4.38 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 53:17 K:BB through 49.1 innings into his next start, which is set to come at home early next week against the A's.

Alexander went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 7-0 win over the Yankees.

Getting the nod at second base and batting ninth, Alexander consistently flipped the lineup over for Baltimore's bigger bats and produced his third multi-hit performance over eight starts in May. On the month, the 26-year-old utility player is batting .393 (11-for-28), but playing time around the infield will be harder to come by once Jackson Holliday (hand) is cleared to return from the IL.

Bradish (2-5) picked up the win Wednesday in a 7-0 victory over the Yankees, allowing one hit and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out seven.

A fifth-inning double by Jazz Chisholm accounted for the only knock off Bradish, with three Baltimore relievers completing the combined shutout. The right-hander has produced back-to-back quality starts and has lasted at least five innings in seven straight trips to the mound, a stretch in which he's delivered a 3.76 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 42:19 K:BB over 38.1 innings. Bradish will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road early next week in Tampa Bay.

Donovan is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Since returning from the injured list Friday, Donovan hasn't experienced any reported setbacks with the strained groin that forced him to the shelf April 20. Consider his absence from the lineup Wednesday a maintenance day, as the Mariners are presumably aiming to ease Donovan back into an everyday role coming off the injury. Leo Rivas will step in at third base in place of Donovan, who has gone 2-for-18 with a walk and a run scored since being reinstated from the IL.

Nimmo (ankle) will start in right field and bat second Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

Nimmo was lifted from Tuesday's 7-4 win in the sixth inning after spraining his left ankle earlier in the game when he tried to leg out an infield single. According to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, Nimmo's status heading into Wednesday's series finale was a question mark, but he's been given the green light to start after completing a pregame running workout. After leading off in his first 39 starts of the season, Nimmo will occupy the No. 2 spot for the second day in a row while designated hitter Joc Pederson serves as the Rangers' table setter.

Del Castillo will start at designated hitter and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Before sitting out Tuesday's 7-4 loss, Del Castillo had served as Arizona's designated hitter in seven straight games and went 3-for-21 with a double, two walks and three RBI over that stretch. With Gabriel Moreno returning from the injured list May 1, Del Castillo will likely see limited playing time behind the plate moving forward, but he's expected to be used in the strong side of a platoon at DH with Jose Fernandez.
