The Diamondbacks activated Gallen (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Gallen will rejoin the Diamondbacks' rotation with a start Wednesday in Kansas City after missing the past two months due to right elbow inflammation. The right-hander built up to four innings and 60 pitches during a simulated game Friday, so he should be capable of around 70 pitches. Michael Soroka (shoulder) was also activated from the IL and will work behind Gallen in Wednesday's series finale.

Vargas is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's tilt against the Pirates.

It's a rare day off for Vargas, who had started every White Sox game since Aug. 13. Colson Montgomery will slide over to third base for the Southsiders while Vargas gets a breather.

Chisholm (thumb) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Rockies.

Chisholm had to be lifted from Tuesday's contest against the Rockies after hurting his right thumb on a slide into second base. He is listed among the Yankees' reserves on the lineup card, so Chisholm has avoided a trip to the injured list for the time being. Jose Caballero is stepping in at second base in Chisholm's stead.

DeLauter (wrist) will start in right field and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Orioles.

DeLauter missed the previous four contests while battling a sprained right wrist, but he is feeling well enough to give it a go in Wednesday's series finale. The rookie outfielder is slashing .329/.404/.479 during the second half, though he's homered only twice in 40 games.

Winn was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's game in San Francisco due to left thumb soreness, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Winn just returned from the 10-day injured list Tuesday after missing more than two weeks with a left thumb fracture, and it seems he might have been activated too soon. If Winn needs to go back on the IL, it would likely end his season. The Cardinals could offer more on the shortstop's status after Wednesday's contest. Jose Fermin will enter the lineup in Winn's place and will play second base, while Thomas Saggese will shift over to shortstop.

The Marlins optioned Blalock to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.

A spot on the active roster was needed to accommodate the return of Pete Fairbanks (hand) from the injured list. Blalock made two three-inning relief appearances during his brief stint with the Marlins, yielding a total of two runs with a 6:2 K:BB.

The Marlins activated Fairbanks (hand) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

As expected, Fairbanks required only a minimum 15-day absence while recovering from medial nerve irritation in his pitching hand. The right-hander did not make any rehab appearances, but he will likely immediately be thrown back into the closer role after a relatively brief absence.

The White Sox recalled Murphy from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

He is taking the roster spot vacated by Tyler Davis (bereavement). Murphy has logged 29 appearances for the White Sox this season, collecting a 4.20 ERA and 29:15 K:BB across 30 innings of work. He could be with the big club only while Davis is away for the next few days.

The White Sox placed Davis on the bereavement list Wednesday.

By rule, Davis must miss the next three days and could be out for up to a week. Chris Murphy is absorbing Davis' spot on the roster and in the bullpen.

Bohm is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Bohm will get a day off as the Phillies take on Astros righty Hunter Brown. Kyle Schwarber is grabbing a start at first base for Philadelphia.
