The Rays selected Madrigal's contract from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.

The 29-year-old joined Tampa Bay on a minor-league deal in late June and will now get a look with the big club. Madrigal posted a .273/.385/.295 slash line in 52 plate appearances for the Angels earlier this season and was hitting well for Durham with an .818 OPS in 47 contests. He'll provide infield depth to help cover the loss of Taylor Walls (hip), who was placed on the injured list Tuesday.

Norby is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.

After making 13 consecutive starts, the righty-swinging Norby has now been held out of the lineup for two straight games versus right-handed pitching. Switch hitter Adael Amador will man second base and could hold the platoon edge at the keystone over Norby.

The Rays placed Walls on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right hip flexor strain, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.

Walls didn't play in his team's last game Sunday, so it seems he's been dealing with the injury for a few days. He'll be eligible to return Sept. 18, but it's unclear whether Walls has a chance to be ready on that date. Jorge Mateo will likely handle the bulk of the reps at shortstop while Walls is shelved.

Stowers is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.

Stowers started the past three games after sitting out Friday due to hamstring tightness, and he'll return to the bench Tuesday while lefty Sean Manaea takes the mound for New York. Deyvison De Los Santos is handling first base and batting sixth for Miami.

Cruz (elbow) expects to resume a throwing program by the end of this week, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Cruz was diagnosed with a partial tear in his right elbow UCL in late August. It's an injury that sometimes requires surgery and often results in an extended absence, but Cruz is motivated to make it back before the regular season concludes. Being able to accomplish that feat, however, is not a given.

DeLauter (wrist) is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Baltimore.

He's missing a fourth straight contest due to a sprained right wrist. DeLauter reported improvement pregame Monday and seems to be trending toward avoiding the injured list. However, with the Guardians having an off day looming Thursday, it wouldn't be a surprise if DeLauter remains out until Friday. Angel Martinez will be in right field, and Jo Adell will serve as the designated hitter Tuesday.

Martin (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com reports.

Martin is ready to test things out in a game setting after missing the last three-plus weeks with a strained left hamstring. The Twins are idle Thursday before beginning a homestand Friday, and Martin should be activated at some point during that homestand.

Meckler is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Boston.

The left-handed-hitting Meckler will often play against lefty hurlers, but he'll begin Tuesday's contest on the bench as the Red Sox send southpaw Patrick Sandoval to the hill.

Caglianone (elbow) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Caglianone will be absent from the lineup for the third straight contest as he recovers from a left flexor strain. The Royals conclude their series with the Diamondbacks on Wednesday before they're idle Thursday, so it wouldn't be a surprise if Caglianone remains out of commission until his club begins a road trip Friday. Matthew Lugo will patrol right field for Kansas City on Tuesday.

Miller (back) was transferred to Double-A Reading on Tuesday to continue his rehab assignment, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

The 22-year-old was sent to Single-A Clearwater on Saturday to begin the rehab assignment and will move up to the Double-A level after going 1-for-2 with a walk and a double in one game. Miller has been on the shelf all season due to a back injury, but he could see action with Triple-A Memphis before the end of the regular season in a couple weeks.
