  • Ryan Feltner SP | COL

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Begins strong but fades in loss

Feltner (2-2) took the loss against the Cubs on Thursday, allowing six runs on four hits and three walks while striking out three batters over 4.1 innings.

Feltner was perfect through three frames, but the bottom fell out thereafter. Chicago got to him for four runs on four hits and a walk in the fourth inning, with the big hit being a grand slam off the bat of Seiya Suzuki. Feltner returned for the fifth and issued two walks while retiring just one batter, and both runners be put on base came around to score after his departure. It was a disappointing outcome after Feltner looked like he might be turning a major corner over his past two outings, during which he gave up just one run over 12 frames. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for a rematch against the Cubs in Chicago.

  • Edward Cabrera SP | CHC

Cubs' Edward Cabrera: Rebounds for fourth victory

Cabrera (4-3) notched the win over Colorado on Thursday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 5.1 innings.

After being pounded by the Giants for eight runs over 3.2 frames in his first start back from the injured list in his previous outing, Cabrera looked better against the Rockies. The right-hander did give up two more homers, but they were both solo shots, and Colorado couldn't put any other runs on the board. Cabrera tossed 51 of 83 pitches for strikes and secured his first victory since April 28. The five long balls he's allowed across his past two appearances are certainly a concern, but Cabrera is lined up for a more promising matchup in his next start, which is scheduled to be a rematch against the Rockies -- this time in Chicago.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Belts homer Thursday

Seager went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in a 4-2 win against the Royals on Thursday.

Seager registered the only long ball in the game with his 391-foot solo blast in the third inning. It was his second homer over five contests since coming off the injured list June 5, a span in which he's batting .238 (5-for-21) with four RBI. Seager still has a long way to go to get his production up to it usual level, as he's slashing .186/.284/.373 through 204 plate appearances on the campaign.

  • Royals' Michael Wacha: Finishes strong after early trouble

Wacha (4-5) allowed four runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out two batters over seven innings in a loss against Texas on Thursday.

Wacha looked like he could be in for a short outing after giving up three runs on five hits over the first three innings. The veteran righty was able to settle down thereafter and surrendered only one more run, but the Royals' offense was never able to catch up. Wacha notched just seven whiffs on 102 pitches and tied a season low with two punchouts, but he at least managed to spare a thin KC bullpen by covering seven frames. He has once again provided a reliable arm for the Royals, posting a 3.58 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 69:27 K:BB through 88 innings across 14 starts.

  • Kumar Rocker SP | TEX

Rangers' Kumar Rocker: Doesn't finish fifth frame

Rocker allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three batters over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against Kansas City on Thursday.

Rocker was great through three innings, holding the Royals scoreless on one hit. However, the right-hander faded in the fourth, yielding two runs on three hits and a walk. Rocker returned for the fifth and retired the first two batters he faced before giving up a Bobby Witt single and subsequently being pulled. Though it was far from a disastrous outing, Thursday marked the first time since May 8 that Rocker was unable to complete five frames. He holds a 3.56 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 52:28 K:BB over 65.2 innings spanning 13 appearances (12 starts).

  • Otto Lopez SS | MIA

Marlins' Otto Lopez: Swipes two bags Thursday

Lopez went 2-for-4 with a run and two stolen bases against Arizona in a 2-0 win Thursday.

Lopez was the only batter on either team to record multiple hits in the low-scoring affair. He manufactured a run in the first inning by knocking a single, reaching second base on a disengagement violation, stealing third and then coming home on a sacrifice fly. The speedy infielder added another theft later in the game for his third multi-steal performance of the campaign. Lopez is in the midst of the best season of his career, as he leads qualified MLB hitters with a .344 batting average while adding five homers, 18 doubles (tied for fifth-most), three triples, 30 RBI, 42 runs and 13 steals through 68 games.

  • Merrill Kelly SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Pitches well but gets no support

Kelly (5-5) took the loss against Miami on Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out one batter over six innings.

Kelly didn't allow any extra-base hits and was efficient in getting through six frames on 74 pitches. However, the two runs he allowed were enough to saddle him with the loss, as Arizona managed just three hits and no runs against five Marlins hurlers. Kelly did notch his fifth quality start of the campaign and rebounded well after yielding seven runs over five innings against Washington in his previous outing. He'll carry a 5.46 ERA and 1.45 WHIP into his next start, which is scheduled to be at home against the Angels.

  • Pete Fairbanks RP | MIA

Marlins' Pete Fairbanks: Impressive in eighth save

Fairbanks earned a save against the Diamondbacks on Thursday, striking out two batters in a perfect ninth inning.

Fairbanks was called upon to protect a 2-0 lead in the ninth inning and made quick work of Arizona, retiring the side in order on 13 pitches. It was one of the better outings in what has been an inconsistent campaign for the veteran reliever, and Thursday marked just the third time over his past 12 appearances that he didn't allow a hit or a walk. Fairbanks continues to serve as Miami's primary closer despite holding a 6.63 ERA and 1.47 WHIP through 19 innings spanning 21 outings on the season. He's converted eight of 10 save chances and has a 27:11 K:BB.

  • Tyler Phillips RP | MIA

Marlins' Tyler Phillips: Defangs D-backs for first victory

Phillips (1-1) earned the win over Arizona on Thursday, allowing two hits and issuing two walks while striking out five batters over five-plus scoreless innings.

Phillips served as a bulk reliever in his previous outing June 5, but he was deployed as a starter Thursday. The right-hander excelled in that role, limiting the Diamondbacks to just one hit through five frames. Phillips went back out for the sixth and yielded a single before being lifted at 70 pitches. Having worked out of the bullpen for most of the campaign, Phillips isn't yet up to a full starter's workload, topping out at 82 pitches in that June 5 piggyback appearance. He should be able to push his pitch count up as he settles into the rotation, and he may be worth a look for fantasy managers in need of pitching given his 2.95 ERA across 18.1 innings since moving into the rotation. His 14:8 K:BB over that span is less appealing, though.

  • Tommy Pham LF | NYM

Orioles' Tommy Pham: Likely to opt out of deal

Pham is expected to opt out of his minor-league contract with the Orioles, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Pham signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles on May 16 and has since slashed just .172/.246/.345 with three homers, nine RBI and 10 runs scored through 65 plate appearances. The 38-year-old outfielder isn't likely to make much of a contribution in the majors at this stage in his career, so he will likely have to settle for another minor-league deal in free agency or consider retirement.
