Skenes (10-11) earned the win Sunday over the Angels, allowing four hits and a walk over 5.1 scoreless innings. He struck out two.

While Skenes wasn't exactly dominant Sunday, he managed to hold the Angels scoreless in a strong bounce-back performance after he gave up five runs in 4.2 innings against the Giants his last time out. It's Skenes' first win since July 19 -- he'd gone 0-3 with a 5.77 ERA across 34.1 innings in his previous seven outings. Overall, the 24-year-old Skenes sports a 3.83 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP and 181:45 K:BB across 29 starts (155 innings) this season. He's currently in line for a road matchup with the Cubs his next time out.

Ward is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Following the recent promotion of Lazaro Montes (hip) to the big leagues, Ward appears to have faded into a short-side platoon role. Each of Ward's last four starts have come against left-handed pitching, and the Mariners have kept him on the bench for three consecutive matchups with righties. Since being acquired from the Orioles on Aug. 3, Ward has slashed just .105/.200/.132 with one extra-base hit (a triple) and a 28.2 percent strikeout rate.

Rodden is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

A switch hitter, Rodden posted a .679 OPS versus lefties and an .884 OPS versus righties at Triple-A Tacoma this season before being promoted to Seattle on Aug. 14. Those wide splits have persisted in limited action in the majors thus far, with Rodden submitting a .544 OPS versus lefties and a .675 OPS against righties through his first 18 games with Seattle. He'll hit the bench for a second game in a row while the Athletics send another lefty (Gage Jump) to the hill.

Young is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Young had started each of the Mariners' last nine games, but after producing a poor .188/.333/.250 slash line during that stretch, he'll hit the bench Sunday. The Mariners called up one of their top prospects in Michael Arroyo from Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday, and he'll immediately enter the lineup in place of Young, starting at second base against left-hander Gage Jump. The right-handed-hitting Arroyo could end up settling into a platoon at the keystone with Young, who is batting .218/.278/.294 (69 wRC+) over 187 plate appearances versus lefties.

White (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

White hasn't played since the Athletics' 8-5 loss to the Rangers on Tuesday, when he exited in the second inning due to lower-back tightness. The Athletics' resistance to move White to the injured list suggests that he's still being viewed as day-to-day, though it's unclear if he's realistic candidate to make a pinch-hitting appearance Sunday. White's ongoing absence will continue to open up extra playing time for Alika Williams, who will stick in the starting nine for a sixth straight contest.

Montes (hip) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

The 21-year-old Montes departed Friday's contest due to left hip soreness and is on the bench Sunday for a second consecutive game. He's guaranteed another day of rest since the Mariners have a team day off Monday. Dominic Canzone is manning right field for Seattle while Cal Raleigh rests his legs as the designated hitter.

Heim is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Heim started the past six games and will receive Sunday off after going 6-for-25 (.240 average) with two doubles and a solo homer during that stretch. Brian Serven will step in behind the plate and bat ninth in the series finale at Seattle.

Clarke is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Clarke went 0-for-4 in Saturday's contest and will hit the bench Sunday for the third time in six games since coming off the injured list Tuesday. Henry Bolte will shift to center field while Carlos Cortes and Lawrence Butler start in left and right, respectively.

Amador will start at second base and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Amador has been the main beneficiary of a left heel injury to Willi Castro, which sent the infielder to the shelf Saturday. The 23-year-old will cover the keystone for a third straight game and will stay in the lineup for the fifth consecutive contest overall after going 7-for-15 with a home run, a double, a walk, three RBI and four runs since being recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.

Norby is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Norby will get a breather after he had started in each of the last 13 games while slashing .271/.375/.354 with one home run, one double, seven walks, nine RBI and eight runs during that stretch. Vimael Machin will get the nod at third base in his stead Sunday, but Norby should have a clear path to an everyday role while Kyle Karros (concussion) and Willi Castro (foot) remain on the shelf.
