Muncy is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

With a tough lefty (Cristopher Sanchez) on the bump for the Phillies, the left-handed-hitting Muncy will hit the bench while the Dodgers make room in the infield for Miguel Rojas. Muncy had started in each of the Dodgers' previous five games, going 3-for-15 with a home run, a double, four walks, two runs and two RBI.

The Cubs placed Maton on the 15-day injured list Monday with right knee tendinitis, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.

Maton returned just over a week ago from the same injury and is now back on the IL after making just one appearance. Manager Craig Counsell said Monday that it will be "a little more of an extended absence" for Maton this time around, per Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune. The reliever will receive multiple opinions on his knee before deciding on a course of action. It's been a struggle this season for the veteran reliever, as Maton has posted an ugly 6.18 ERA and 1.81 WHIP in 31 outings after inking a two-year, $14.5 million contract last offseason.

The Tigers optioned Valencia to Triple-A Toledo following Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Valencia was recalled from Triple-A shortly before the All-Star break to provide catching depth behind Dillon Dingler, but the former will head back to Toledo after Gleyber Torres (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Valencia did well at the plate during his short major-league stint, going 5-for-12 (.417) with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored.

The Cubs activated Taillon (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list Monday, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.

Taillon will rejoin the Cubs' rotation with a start Monday against the Tigers after missing the last six weeks of action with a strained left hamstring. The veteran right-hander threw only 53 pitches in his last rehab start with Triple-A Iowa, so he will be relatively limited from a workload perspective versus Detroit.

The Tigers reinstated Torres (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Torres needed a month-long stint on the IL due to a left oblique strain. He was cleared to embark on a rehab assignment during the All-Star break, and he's progressed enough in his recovery to return to the majors, meaning both Zach McKinstry and Hao-Yu Lee will see less time at the keystone. Catcher Eduardo Valencia was optioned to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move.

Cowser is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox.

Cowser will join fellow left-handed hitters Samuel Basallo (shoulder), Dylan Beavers and Jackson Holliday on the bench while the Red Sox send southpaw Payton Tolle to the bump for the series opener. Leody Taveras will draw the start in center field Monday in place of Cowser, who went 1-for-10 with one walk and one stolen base during the Orioles' three-game sweep of the Astros over the weekend.

Beavers will join fellow left-handed hitters Samuel Basallo (shoulder), Colton Cowser and Jackson Holliday on the bench while the Red Sox send southpaw Payton Tolle to the bump for the series opener. Tyler O'Neill will draw the start in right field Monday in place of Beavers, who went 4-for-10 with two doubles, one stolen base and one RBI during the Orioles' three-game sweep of the Astros over the weekend.

Holliday is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox.

Holliday will join fellow left-handed hitters Samuel Basallo (shoulder), Colton Cowser and Dylan Beavers on the bench while the Red Sox send southpaw Payton Tolle to the bump for the series opener. Jeremiah Jackson will replace Holliday at second base and will bat seventh.

Lopez (finger) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros.

Per Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com, Lopez was spotted on the field playing catch during pregame warmups, but the Marlins will keep him on the bench for the second day in a row while he recovers from right ring finger inflammation. Javier Sanjoa will serve as Miami's shortstop and bat ninth inm Monday's series opener.

Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said Monday that Waldrep was removed from his start at Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday after just 36 pitches because "his arm didn't feel right," Harrison Smajovits of SI.com reports.

Waldrep managed to throw three scoreless innings in the outing, but he averaged just 92.8 mph with his sinker, down from his 94.2 average. He will be evaluated before next steps are taken. Waldrep had surgery to remove loose bodies from his right elbow back in February, which caused him to miss the first two months of the season.
