  • Sam Antonacci LF | CHW

White Sox's Sam Antonacci: Sitting versus southpaw

Antonacci is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Boston.

Southpaw Ranger Suarez is drawing the start for the Red Sox, marking the fifth time in a row that the left-handed-hitting Antonacci has been out of the lineup versus a traditional lefty starter. Luisangel Acuna will play center field in Antonacci's stead.

  • Luke Little RP | KC

Royals' Luke Little: Snatched by Royals

The Royals claimed Little off waivers from the Cubs on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Omaha.

Little lost his spot on Chicago's 40-man roster in the flurry of moves following Monday's trade deadline, but he'll reclaim a roster spot upon joining the Royals organization. He'll begin his tenure with the Royals organization at Triple-A, where he's logged a 5.70 ERA and 1.81 WHIP over 23.2 innings this season.

  • Craig Kimbrel: Reaches free agency

Kimbrel cleared waivers Thursday and elected to become a free agent, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Kimbrel passed through waivers unclaimed after being booted off the Rays' 40-man roster, but he'll become a free agent rather than accept an outright assignment. The veteran reliever holds a 4.81 ERA and 32:16 K:BB over 33.2 innings in the majors this season, and it seems likely he would have to take a minor-league contract if he wants to continue pitching in 2026.

  • Blake Dunn CF | CIN

Reds' Blake Dunn: Moved to 60-day IL

The Reds transferred Dunn (elbow) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Thursday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of waiver claim Ron Marinaccio. Dunn underwent season-ending internal brace surgery on his right elbow earlier this week.

  • Chase Solesky RP | CIN

Reds' Chase Solesky: Scooped up by Reds

The Reds claimed Solesky off waivers from the Rays on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Louisville.

Solesky was removed from Tampa Bay's 40-man roster Monday after the team acquired Tyler Wells from the Orioles ahead of the trade deadline. Now in a new organization, Solesky will stay put at Triple-A level, where he's accumulated a 7.03 ERA and 1.71 WHIP over 56.1 innings this season.

  • Ron Marinaccio RP | CIN

Reds' Ron Marinaccio: Claimed by Cincinnati

The Reds claimed Marinaccio off waivers from the Pirates on Thursday.

Marinaccio has logged a 4.99 ERA and 42:20 K:BB over 52.1 innings across 37 appearances between the Padres and Pirates this season. The 31-year-old doesn't have minor-league options remaining, so he will report directly to the Reds and join their relief corps.

  • Andrew Painter SP | PHI

Phillies' Andrew Painter: Not concerned about hamstring

Painter said following Wednesday's 10-4 loss to to the Nationals in 11 innings that he's not worried about missing time due to the left hamstring injury that forced him out of the game after four innings, Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic reports. "I felt like I could have gone out there and still competed. [The coaching staff] felt like they didn't want to risk that," Painter said.

Making a second straight turn through the Philadelphia rotation, Painter struck out four batters and limited the Nationals to one earned run on three hits and one walk in four innings prior to his departure. Painter appeared to first tweak the hamstring in the first inning when he slipped while delivering a 3-2 pitch to Daylen Lile, but the right-hander said the hamstring didn't tighten up on him until the fourth. The Phillies have no plans to send Painter in for imaging, and so long as he's able to complete a bullpen session over the weekend without issue, he'll tentatively line up to make his next start Monday in St. Louis.

  • Wyatt Mills RP | WAS

Nationals' Wyatt Mills: Picked up by Nats

The Nationals claimed Mills off waivers from the Dodgers on Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Rochester.

The right-hander was pushed off the Dodgers' 40-man roster Monday following the acquisition of catcher Hunter Feduccia, but Mills has found a new home. He's turned in a 2.41 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 37.1 innings at Triple-A, but he coughed up four runs in just 6.1 innings while posting a 5:9 K:BB during his time in the majors this season.

  • Gabe Speier RP | SEA

Mariners' Gabe Speier: Issued three-game suspension

Major League Baseball suspended Speier for three games Thursday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Speier was ejected from Wednesday's game after intentionally hitting Gleyber Torres with a pitch and will now also receive a three-game ban for his actions. Speier will appeal the suspension, per McCosky, and he'll remain eligible to pitch until a final verdict is reached.

  • Zach Dezenzo LF | HOU

Astros' Zach Dezenzo: Sent back to minors

The Astros optioned Dezenzo to Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Dezenzo has received only 19 plate appearances during the second half, going 3-for-18 with a 1:7 BB:K. The Astros will announce a corresponding roster move prior to Friday's game in San Diego.
