The Rays recalled Englert from Triple-A Durham on Friday and will have him start or pitch in bulk relief in the second game of their doubleheader versus the Red Sox, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.

Tampa Bay designated Englert as the 27th man for the twin bill, so he'll likely be returned to Durham after the doubleheader is completed. The 26-year-old has made two starts and 11 relief appearances for Tampa Bay this season, logging a 3.82 ERA and 28:7 K:BB over 30.2 innings.

The Nationals transferred Irvin (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list July 10.

Coming back from a right shoulder strain, Irvin began a rehab assignment Monday with three scoreless innings in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. Irvin will need additional rehab appearances, likely at a higher affiliate, before the Nationals consider re-inserting him into their rotation. Having been sidelined since May 23, the shift to the 60-day IL doesn't impact the right-hander's return timeline.

The Red Sox recalled Gamboa from Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Gamboa will serve as the 27th man during Friday's doubleheader against the Rays. The left-hander has made four appearances out of the Boston bullpen in 2026, allowing two runs with a 4:4 K:BB over five frames.

Martinez (elbow) will throw a live batting practice session soon, Alex D'Agostino of SI.com reports.

Martinez has been progressing with his bullpen sessions and is nearly ready to face hitters for the first time since he underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow last July. If he continues his recovery at his current pace, Martinez could be ready to rejoin the Arizona bullpen sometime in August.

Misiorowski (arm) is likely to make a start during next week's series against the Mets, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.

Misiorowski had some right arm fatigue following his July 7 start in St. Louis, preventing from taking his final turn in the rotation the Sunday before the All-Star break. The Brewers elected to extend Misiorowski's rest by not scheduling him to start this weekend versus the Marlins, but he's in line to take the ball early next week. Between the bout with arm fatigue and a career-high innings pace, Misiorowski's workload will likely be monitored carefully by the Brewers in the second half.

Manager Torey Lovullo said Thursday that Soroka (glute) will require a rehab start before returning to the Diamondbacks' rotation, Alex D'Agostino of SI.com reports.

Soroka hasn't pitched since June 19 but did throw a bullpen session Tuesday. Lovullo said Soroka's timeline is somewhat up in the air, and it's unclear when the right-hander will make his rehab start. With Zac Gallen (elbow) landing on the injured list this week, the Diamondbacks will need to continue to fill multiple holes in the rotation for the near future. Jose Cabrera will be an option to be called back up to Arizona.

Perdomo received a cortisone injection in his left hand during the All-Star break this week, Alex D'Agostino of SI.com reports.

The issue arose during last week's series in San Diego, manager Torey Lovullo said Thursday. "He battles hand issues throughout the course of the year, ever since we've had him," Lovullo said. "I was told it's not going to hinder him whatsoever." Perdomo posted an image on social media showing his left hand bandaged up. It's unclear if he'll be in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Cardinals.

Manager Torey Lovullo said Thursday that Gallen is awaiting a second opinion on his injured right elbow, Alex D'Agostino of SI.com reports.

Gallen was scheduled to start last Sunday's game against the Dodgers but was scratched due to right elbow inflammation and subsequently placed on the 15-day injured list. "Gallen, we're continuing to evaluate," Lovullo said. "He is waiting for other opinions from other doctors. So we'll just keep putting that off until we get everything complete." Mitch Bratt was recently recalled from Triple-A Reno to take Gallen's place in the rotation.

Alvarez went 2-for-3 with a pair of solo home runs and a walk in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Phillies.

It was the first multi-homer game of the season for Alvarez and the seventh of his career. The slugging backstop has fared well at the dish since returning from the injured list with a torn meniscus in early June, batting .280 with seven long balls, two doubles and 14 RBI over his last 100 at-bats (28 games). For the campaign (236 plate appearances), Alvarez is slashing .259/.325/.448 with 11 big flies, seven doubles and 24 RBI.

Williams secured the save Thursday against the Phillies, throwing a clean ninth inning with one strikeout.

After blowing back-to-back saves going into the All-Star break, Williams got back on track Thursday and recorded career save No. 100 in the process. The 31-year-old right-hander, who has remained New York's closer despite shaky results in 2026, could see his hold on the ninth-inning role strengthen if the Mets choose to eventually offload setup man Luke Weaver, who's a rumored trade candidate ahead of the Aug. 3 deadline. Through 32.2 innings, Williams has a 4.68 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 45:19 K:BB with 14 saves in 17 chances.
