Derek Carr QB | NO
Saints' Derek Carr: Suiting up in Week 5
Carr (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game at New England, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
Carr will continue to play through the AC joint sprain in his right throwing shoulder that he sustained during the second half of a Week 3 loss at Green Bay. While he operated with a cap on his practice reps during Week 5 prep, he's far healthier this time around than he was last Sunday against the Buccaneers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. In that contest, Carr managed just 127 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions on 23-for-37 passing.

Saints' Derek Carr: Likely to play, health improving
Carr (shoulder), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, is expected to start and should be in a better place health-wise than he was during the Saints' Week 4 loss to the Buccaneers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
After missing the final quarter of the Saints' Week 3 loss to Green Bay with an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder, Carr somewhat surprisingly made enough progress in his recovery to gain clearance to play Week 4. However, the veteran quarterback looked like he could have benefited from some rest; he struggled to push the ball downfield and completed 23 of his 37 pass attempts for just 127 yards (3.4 YPA) and also lost a fumble in the 26-9 loss to Tampa Bay. Though he carries a questionable tag for the second week in a row, Carr was at least able to take a step forward in terms of practice activity. He was a limited participant in practices Wednesday through Friday after managing just one limited practice in Week 4.

Jimmy Garoppolo QB | LAR
Raiders' Jimmy Garoppolo: Clears protocol, practices fully
Garoppolo (concussion) practiced fully Friday, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
Per Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network and Adam Schefter of ESPN, Garoppolo has cleared the NFL's concussion protocol and thus is slated to start Monday night's game against the Packers. Prior to being inactive for the Raiders' Week 4 loss to the Chargers -- which Aidan O'Connell started -- the veteran QB completed 68.1 percent of his passes for 709 yards, with five touchdowns and six interceptions through the three games he suited up for this season.

Raiders' Jimmy Garoppolo: In line to play Monday
Garoppolo gained clearance to play from the concussion protocol and is slated to start Monday against the Packers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Garoppolo opened Week 5 prep Thursday with a limited listing on the Raiders' injury report. Assuming he was a full participant Friday, he'll seemingly be on track to miss just one game as a result of the health concern. With Garoppolo's status likely to be cleared up in the near future, the main question mark for the Raiders offense is Davante Adams, who didn't practice Thursday or Friday due to a shoulder issue. Adams has two more chances to put himself in a position to suit up versus his former team Monday.

Saints' Derek Carr: Should play Week 5
Carr (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots but is considered likely to play, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Carr was a limited practice participant throughout the week after playing through the AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder -- albeit rather poorly -- in last Sunday's 26-9 loss to Tampa Bay. The Saints have a capable backup quarterback on hand in Jameis Winston in the unlikely event Carr is declared inactive ahead of a 1 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday.

Nick Mullens QB | JAC
Vikings' Nick Mullens: Questionable for Sunday vs. Chiefs
Mullens (back) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus Kansas City.
Mullens seems to be a coin-flip proposition to suit up in Week 5 after practicing in a limited capacity during the week. If he sits out, rookie fifth-rounder Jaren Hall would take over as Minnesota's backup quarterback.

Kenny Pickett QB | CAR
Steelers' Kenny Pickett: Good to go Sunday
Pickett (knee) doesn't have an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Ravens, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Pickett logged full practices both Thursday and Friday, which set the stage for the quarterback -- who sustained a bone bruise in his left knee last week, per Brook Pryor of ESPN.com -- to start Sunday's contest against division rival Baltimore. While Pickett will be available this weekend, top tight end Pat Freiermuth (hamstring) has been ruled out, and with wide receiver Diontae Johnson (hamstring) on injured reserve, the Steelers' top receiving options Week 5 are likely to be wideouts George Pickens, Allen Robinson and Calvin Austin along with tight end Darnell Washington.

Sam Howell QB | DAL
Commanders' Sam Howell: Strong numbers in Week 5 loss
Howell completed 37 of 51 passes for 388 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the Commanders' 40-20 loss to the Bears on Thursday night. He also rushed four times for 19 yards and recorded a two-point conversion run.
Howell's career-best passing yardage total was largely the byproduct of game script, considering the Commanders were down 27-3 by halftime. Naturally, it was still a welcome sight to fantasy managers, and with his two- and three-yard scoring tosses to Logan Thomas and Curtis Samuel, respectively, Howell generated the second multi-touchdown day of his nascent career. The 2022 fifth-round pick also took five sacks, however, as the Bears' ability to jump out to a 24-point halftime lead led to Chicago being able to largely focus on slowing down the air attack. Howell and his teammates now have some extra time to regroup after consecutive losses before a Week 6 road matchup against the Falcons on Sunday, Oct. 15.

Justin Fields QB | KC
Bears' Justin Fields: Stays hot in TNF win
Fields completed 15 of 29 passes for 282 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions while adding 57 yards on 11 rushes in the Bears' 40-20 win over the Commanders on Thursday night.
Four days after a stellar showing against the shaky Broncos secondary in which he threw for a season-high 335 yards and four touchdowns, Fields produced a similarly impressive performance that saw the connection between him and top wideout DJ Moore in elite form. Eight of Fields' completions and 230 of his passing yards were achieved in conjunction with Moore, who also hauled in touchdown passes of 20, 11 and 56 yards. Fields hit tight end Cole Kmet from four yards out for a four-yard scoring toss just before halftime as well, leaving him just six touchdown passes short of the 17 he threw last season over 15 games. Fields' rushing total was also his second highest of the campaign, affording him plenty of momentum for what could be another busy day for him and his pass catchers against the Vikings in a Week 6 home matchup Sunday, Oct. 15.

Nick Mullens QB | JAC
Vikings' Nick Mullens: Limited by back issue
Mullens (back) was a limited participant at practice Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Mullens logged limited participation for the second straight day Thursday, putting his availability for Week 5 in doubt. To avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend, he'll probably need to practice in full Friday.
