Trey Lance QB | LAC
49ers' Trey Lance: Suffers ankle injury Sunday
Lance (ankle) won't return to Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
When the QB was carted off the field he had an air cast on his lower right leg, with the team now confirming that Lance sustained an ankle injury. If he's forced to miss time beyond Sunday's contest, which seems likely, Jimmy Garoppolo would be in line to serve as the 49ers' starting signal caller.

49ers' Trey Lance: Carted off field Sunday
Lance (leg) was carted off the field during Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Per the report, Lance's right leg was in an air cast, so at first glance this looks like an injury that could cost him some time. In Lance's absence, Jimmy Garoppolo has stepped in at QB for the 49ers.

Tua Tagovailoa QB | ATL
Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa: Explodes for career-best effort
Tagovailoa completed 36 of 50 passes for 469 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions in the Dolphins' 42-38 win over the Ravens on Sunday. He also rushed once for one yard.
After facing no shortage of adversity over his first two-plus seasons, Tagovailoa appeared to be on a mission to silence his ample pool of doubters in one half during a miraculous comeback Sunday. The 2020 first-round pick unsurprisingly focused heaviest on his explosive wideout duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle to the tune of 22 completions, 361 yards and four of his touchdown passes, but he also connected with Mike Gesicki and River Cracraft for his two other scores. Tagovailoa began the comeback with a 14-yard scoring toss to the veteran tight end in the third quarter, while 48- and 60-yard connections with Hill in the fourth quarter led to a 35-35 tie. The third-year signal-caller then topped off his career-best effort with a seven-yard scoring throw to Waddle for Miami's final points of the day with 14 seconds remaining. Tagovailoa and the Dolphins' lethal air attack may have quite the task putting together a successful encore, however, as a Week 3 home matchup against the Bills awaits next Sunday.

Mitch Trubisky QB | TEN
Steelers' Mitch Trubisky: Limited production against Patriots
Trubisky completed 21 of 33 pass attempts for 168 yards, a touchdown and an interception while rushing once for seven yards during Sunday's 17-14 loss to the Patriots.
Trubisky was efficient during the preseason, but he hasn't had the same kind of success over the Steelers' first two games in the regular season. He's completed just 59.2 percent of his pass attempts and has been held under 200 yards in each of his first two games with Pittsburgh. Although the Steelers won their regular-season opener and were competitive against New England, they'll need more production from Trubisky if they hope to contend in the talented AFC North this season. The team will have a short week prior to Thursday's Week 3 matchup in Cleveland.

Mac Jones QB | SF
Patriots' Mac Jones: Good enough to win
Jones completed 21 of 35 pass attempts for 252 yards, one touchdown and one interception against Pittsburgh on Sunday.
The Patriots were able to sneak out with a 17-14 win in the road matchup, and Jones could have done worse. It's encouraging that he coaxed big games out of Nelson Agholor (six catches for 110 yards and one touchdown on six targets) and Jakobi Meyers (nine catches for 95 yards on 13 targets), but the Patriots offense still seems short of where they'd like to be. With a 1-1 record, Jones will face the Ravens at home in Week 3.

Jameis Winston QB | NYG
Saints' Jameis Winston: Playing through back fractures
Winston, who is active for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, will be playing despite having been diagnosed with four fractures in his back, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.
Though Winston was limited in practices throughout the week and was listed as questionable heading into Sunday, he'll be able to tough it out and play through the issue by donning some extra padding on his back. The injury may be something that lingers for a few more weeks and gradually improves as the season goes along, but Winston should be available on game days so long as he can tolerate the pain.

Skylar Thompson QB | BAL
Dolphins' Skylar Thompson: Healthy scratch Sunday
Thompson (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Ravens.
Thompson will likely need an injury to crack the active roster on gameday. The rookie quarterback is likely to remain firmly behind starter Tua Tagovailoa and backup Teddy Bridgewater this season.
-
Kyle Trask QB | TB
Buccaneers' Kyle Trask: Inactive Sunday
Trask (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Saints.
Trask may be the heir apparent to Tom Brady, but he's still No. 3 on the team's quarterback positional depth chart. He'll continue to work in practice to move up to No. 2, ahead of Blaine Gabbert.

Jameis Winston QB | NYG
Saints' Jameis Winston: Available Sunday
Winston (back) is active for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Winston will gut out the back issue that capped his practice reps throughout Week 2 prep. While he's suiting up, his top running back Alvin Kamara won't be, leaving the backfield to the likes of Mark Ingram (ankle) and Dwayne Washington (hamstring). The Saints thus may roll with a more pass-heavy game plan, especially with Tom Brady and company on the other side. In the season opener in Atlanta last Sunday, Winston completed 23 of 34 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns.

Jameis Winston QB | NYG
Saints' Jameis Winston: Expected to play Sunday
Winston (back) remains questionable but is expected to play Sunday against the Buccaneers, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune also said Friday that Winston would likely be able to play, so it appears the 2015 first-round pick will be suiting up Sunday against his former team despite being limited at practices throughout the week. New Orleans' running back situation likely won't be decided until closer to the 1 p.m. ET kickoff, but Alvin Kamara, who was a non-participant Thursday and Friday, appears to be in the most in danger of missing Sunday's game. Assuming Winston is available, he'll still have a nice crew to work with, thanks to wideouts Michael Thomas, Jarvis Landry and Chris Olave.
