Krug (ankle) was moved to long-term injured reserve Tuesday, per PuckPedia. After having ankle surgery in September to address pre-arthritic changes, Krug won't play during the 2024-25 campaign. Moving him to LTIR allows the Blues to exceed the salary cap by $6.03 million, according to PuckPedia. In Krug's absence, Justin Faulk will have increased roles this season, including more power-play time.

Krug (ankle) was placed on the injured non-roster list Monday. Krug won't play in the 2024-25 campaign. He had ankle surgery in September to address pre-arthritic changes. The 33-year-old rearguard supplied four goals, 39 points, 162 shots on net and 111 blocked shots across 77 contests during the 2023-24 regular season. In Krug's absence, Justin Faulk and newcomer Philip Broberg will have increased roles in 2024-25, including more power-play time.

Krug is set for ankle surgery to address pre-arthritic problems and will miss the entire 2024-25 campaign, the team announced Tuesday. Krug's ankle problem was originally announced back in July with a 6-8 week recovery timeline, but it seems the issue couldn't be addressed without surgical intervention. The team may have had an idea that this was coming, considering they pried Philip Broberg from the Oilers with an offer sheet while also signing free agents Pierre-Olivier Joseph and Ryan Suter to one-year deals. With Krug, who figures to land on long-term injured reserve, out of action, Scott Perunovich could see the biggest uptick in ice time.

Krug was diagnosed with pre-arthritic changes in his left ankle and will be evaluated in 6-8 weeks. That timeline puts Krug's next check-up at just before training camp. If his ankle gets worse, surgery is on the table, which would cost him the entire 2024-25 campaign. As is, it's likely the defenseman misses at least some time early in the season since his offseason ramp-up will be disrupted. If Krug misses the year, it could lead to a full-time role for Pierre-Olivier Joseph on the third pairing, while Scott Perunovich and Justin Faulk would figure to get the most additional power-play time.

Krug (upper body) won't be in the lineup for Wednesday's regular-season finale against Dallas, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports. Krug will finish the season with four goals, 39 points, an ugly minus-31 rating, 162 shots and 111 hits through 77 contests. He should produce similar totals while seeing regular power-play usage in 2024-25, making him a decent complementary option at defense in most fantasy formats.
