  • Hurricanes' Dmitry Orlov: Out of action Thursday

Orlov (undisclosed) won't play Thursday versus the Bruins due to a minor injury.

Orlov will miss a game, but it doesn't sound like the team is overly worried about his status. Riley Stillman will fill in as a third-pairing defenseman after being waived earlier in the day. The Hurricanes' next game is Sunday versus the Jets.

  • Carson Soucy D | NYI

Rangers' Carson Soucy: Shipped to Blueshirts

Soucy was traded to the Rangers from the Canucks on Thursday in exchange for a third-round draft pick, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.

Soucy is signed for 2025-26, so this is more than just a rental for the Rangers. The 30-year-old has had a poor season for the Canucks, racking up 10 points and a minus-13 rating over 59 appearances. Much like the Will Borgen acquisition in December, the Rangers will hope they can get more out of Soucy than his previous team was able to, but the blueliner is a primarily defensive player. It's unlikely he'll be a factor in most fantasy formats. The third-round pick involved in the deal is originally San Jose's which the Rangers acquired earlier Thursday in a deal with Vegas that sent Reilly Smith back to the desert, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.

  • Rangers' Matthew Robertson: Reassigned to minors

Robertson was sent to AHL Hartford on Thursday.

Robertson was summoned to the Rangers on Feb. 26, but he didn't end up making his NHL debut before returning to Hartford. He has a goal, 18 points and 47 PIM over 47 appearances with the Wolf Pack in 2024-25. Chad Ruhwedel was summoned from the minors in a corresponding move.

  • Rangers' Chad Ruhwedel: Up from AHL

Ruhwedel was recalled from AHL Hartford on Thursday.

Ruhwedel has three goals, 12 points and 26 PIM across 36 appearances with Hartford in 2024-25. He also has an assist, eight hits and five blocks over five outings with the Rangers. Matthew Robertson was sent to the minors in a corresponding move.

  • Blues' Colton Parayko: Out at least six weeks

Parayko will have a scope on his left knee and be re-evaluated in six weeks, the Blues announced Thursday.

Parayko has 15 goals, 35 points, 90 hits and 140 blocks in 62 appearances this season. His timetable suggests that he won't be back before the end of the regular season, but Parayko might be an option if the Blues manage to make it into the playoffs. Nick Leddy will probably be asked to play a bigger role in Parayko's absence, while Tyler Tucker is likely to start playing regularly after spending the Blues' past six games as a healthy scratch.

  • Predators' Jordan Oesterle: Grabbed off waivers

Oesterle was claimed off waivers by Nashville from Boston on Thursday, according to Chris Johnston of The Athletic.

Oesterle had a goal and six points in 22 appearances with Boston this season. Nashville has three defensemen on injured reserve -- Roman Josi (upper body), Jeremy Lauzon (lower body) and Adam Wilsby (upper body) -- and traded blueliner Luke Schenn to Pittsburgh on Wednesday, so the Predators needed some extra depth. Oesterle might alternate between being a healthy scratch and serving on the third pairing.

  • Devils' Dougie Hamilton: Not available for Friday

Hamilton (lower body) will miss Friday's tilt against Winnipeg, Catherine Bogart of the Devils' official site reports.

Devils coach Sheldon Keefe said Thursday that Hamilton's injury is still being evaluated. The veteran Hamilton has nine goals, 31 assists, 74 hits, 81 blocked shots and 182 shots on goal over 63 appearances. Luke Hughes will receive a boost in his fantasy value Friday, as he will take over quarterbacking the Devils' top power play.

  • Hurricanes' Riley Stillman: On waiver wire

Stillman was designated for waivers by Carolina on Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

While it could be nothing more than a technical paper transaction, the decision to waive Stillman could be an indication the Hurricanes are looking to bolster their defensive group ahead of Friday's trade deadline. The 26-year-old blueliner has played in just two NHL games for Carolina this season in which he averaged a paltry 4:46 of ice time. Assuming he clears, Stillman should link up with AHL Chicago -- at least until the 23-man roster limit lifts.

  • Josh Manson D | COL

Avalanche's Josh Manson: Returning to action Thursday

Manson (lower body) will be back in the lineup Thursday versus San Jose, Aarif Deen of Colorado Hockey Now reports.

Manson has sat out the last seven games with the injury. The 33-year-old veteran has one goal, 12 assists, 94 hits and 54 blocked shots across 43 contests this season. He is expected to play alongside Samuel Girard on the second pairing.

  • Oilers' John Klingberg: Ruled out versus Habs

Klingberg will not be in the lineup against Montreal on Thursday due to an undisclosed injury, Bob Stauffer of the Oilers Radio Network reports.

Klingberg's absence, along with that of Mattias Ekholm (undisclosed), will open up a spot on the blue line for Cam Dineen to play his first NHL game since 2021-22. It's unclear if Klingberg's absence is related to his surgically repaired hip. In his 10 games with the Oilers this year, the veteran has managed one goal and three helpers while logging a career-low 17:21 of ice time.
