NHL Player News

  • Hurricanes' Riley Stillman: Returns to minors

Stillman was sent to AHL Chicago on Saturday, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.

Stillman made his NHL season debut Tuesday, logging 7:40 of ice time while recording one shot and two hits. He has two goals, five points and 20 PIM in 15 AHL outings with the Wolves this campaign.

  • Blackhawks' Louis Crevier: Injured Saturday

Crevier (undisclosed) sustained an injury during Saturday's clash against Florida and will miss the remainder of the game.

Crevier appeared to suffer the injury in the first period after being boarded by Florida's Jonah Gadjovich, Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio reports. Gadjovich received a two-minute minor for his actions. If Crevier can't play Wednesday versus Edmonton, Ethan Del Mastro might draw back into the lineup.

  • Carson Soucy D | NYI

Canucks' Carson Soucy: Scores in garbage time

Soucy scored a goal on four shots in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Stars.

Soucy ended a 22-game goal drought, a span in which he had just three assists and a minus-11 rating. Soucy has largely played in a bottom-four role this season, but it's unclear if he'll still be an every-game player after the Canucks' trades Friday swapped out Vincent Desharnais for a much better player in Marcus Pettersson. Soucy is likely to be competing with Derek Forbort for a spot on the third pairing, though if one of them can play on their offhand side, Noah Juulsen could instead exit the lineup. With eight points and a minus-15 rating, Soucy's already a shaky fantasy option anyway outside of formats that reward his physicality (42 PIM, 76 hits, 83 blocked shots), and that becomes more true with uncertainty in playing time ahead.

  • Canadiens' Logan Mailloux: Summoned from minors

Mailloux was recalled from AHL Laval on Saturday.

Mailloux will be an option for Montreal's three-game road trip, which begins against Anaheim on Sunday. He has one goal, two assists, seven shots on net, seven blocked shots and six hits across five NHL outings this season.

  • Stars' Thomas Harley: Picks up helper Friday

Harley logged an assist, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 5-3 win over the Canucks.

Miro Heiskanen (knee) is likely to be out through the 4 Nations Face-Off and possibly longer, so Harley is now the Stars' top blueliner. That means more power-play time in particular for Harley, though his helper Friday came at even strength. The defenseman had seven points over 15 outings in January, roughly on par with his 24 points through 49 contests this season. He's added 106 shots on net, 71 blocked shots and a plus-25 rating, so he should be able to handle the added defensive rigors that will come with his increased role.

  • Maple Leafs' Jani Hakanpaa: Won't play in 4 Nations Face-Off

Hakanpaa (knee) won't participate in the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off.

Hakanpaa has appeared in two games this season due to a knee problem, earning two shots on goal, four blocked shots and one hit. He has been skating, but there isn't a timeline for his return to the lineup. Finland needs two defense replacements for the 4 Nations Face-Off because of injuries to Hakanpaa and Miro Heiskanen (knee).

  • Cody Ceci D | LA

Stars' Cody Ceci: Bound for Texas

Ceci and Mikael Granlund were traded to Dallas from San Jose for a 2025 first-round and conditional third-round pick Saturday.

Ceci had four goals, 11 assists, 52 hits and 100 blocked shots over 54 appearances with the Sharks this season. Ceci will provide the Stars will a solid blueliner, something they need because Miro Heiskanen (knee) and Nils Lundkvist (shoulder) are out of action.

  • Nick Jensen D | OTT

Senators' Nick Jensen: Still out of action

Jensen (lower body) will not play Saturday against the Wild, according to TSN 1200 Ottawa.

Jensen will miss his fourth straight game, but he is getting close to a return. The rearguard has three goals, 15 assists, 42 hits and 58 blocked shots in 48 contests this season.

  • Stars' Kyle Capobianco: Reassigned to AHL

Capobianco was loaned to AHL Texas on Saturday.

Capobianco could be recalled in time for Sunday's clash against Columbus, as they are down to only six healthy defensemen with the recall of Christian Kyrou in a corresponding move. Capobianco saw action in his first NHL game of the season Friday, picking up a pair of minors in 11:23 of action.

  • Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Undergoes season-ending surgery

Lundkvist underwent surgery to repair his shoulder Friday and will miss the remainder of the season. He was placed on long-term injured reserve Saturday, per PuckPedia.

Dallas also moved Tyler Seguin (hip) to LTIR on Saturday to free up additional cap space. Lundkvist had five assists, 23 hits and 34 blocked shots in 39 games this season. He should be ready for the start of training camp in September.
