Jakub Skarek G | SJ
Sharks' Jakub Skarek: First off Monday
Skarek was the first goalie off the ice during Monday's morning skate, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports, signaling that he's expected to get the road start during the Sharks' preseason matchup against Anaheim.
Skarek signed a one-year deal with the Sharks during the offseason, and he'll make his preseason debut Monday. However, it's not yet clear whether he'll play the whole game against the Ducks. Skarek made his NHL debut for the Islanders last year and will likely struggle to see much playing time for the Sharks behind Yaroslav Askarov and Alex Nedeljkovic this season.

Matthew Murray G | NSH
Predators' Matt Murray: Placed on waivers Monday
Murray was placed on waivers by the Predators on Monday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.
Murray signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Predators in April, but he'll be left off the team's Opening Night roster ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. He's made just four regular-season appearances in the NHL and will likely spend most, or all, of this year with AHL Milwaukee.

Ville Husso G | ANA
Ducks' Ville Husso: Patrolling home crease Monday
Husso will start Monday's preseason game at home against the Sharks, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports.
Husso split time with the Red Wings and Ducks last year, going 2-6-3 with a 3.47 GAA and .890 save percentage. He signed a two-year extension with Anaheim during the offseason but could struggle to find much NHL playing time behind Lukas Dostal and Petr Mrazek.

Philipp Grubauer G | SEA
Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Set to defend home crease
Grubauer will draw the home start during Monday's preseason game against the Flames, Mike Benton of the Kraken Audio Network reports.
Grubauer is in the midst of a competition to serve as the Kraken's No. 2 netminder to begin the regular season. He started on the road against the Flames last Tuesday and turned aside 17 of 19 shots while playing approximately half of the game. While he's been relatively solid, Matt Murray has also played well during the preseason, so Grubauer could need another productive showing during Monday's matchup in order to keep pace.

Alex Nedeljkovic G | SJ
Sharks' Alex Nedeljkovic: Back at practice
Nedeljkovic (personal) participated in Monday's practice with the non-game group, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
Nedeljkovic was absent from Sunday's skate because of a personal matter. He posted a 14-15-5 record with one shutout, a 3.12 GAA and an .894 save percentage across 38 regular-season appearances for Pittsburgh in 2024-25. After being acquired by the Sharks in the summer, Nedeljkovic will open the upcoming campaign as Yaroslav Askarov's backup.

Andrei Vasilevskiy G | TB
Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: Expected to practice Tuesday
Vasilevskiy (undisclosed) skated Monday before the main group and is poised to participate in Tuesday's practice, Benjamin Pierce of the Lightning's official site reports.
Vasilevskiy has been receiving treatments for an undisclosed issue and hasn't been on the ice much during training camp. However, head coach Jon Cooper called Monday a "promising day" for the 31-year-old netminder. It's still unclear if Vasilevskiy will see any playing time during the preseason, but he appears to be trending in the right direction. The Lightning anticipate that he will be available for the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign.

Tristan Jarry G | EDM
Penguins' Tristan Jarry: Tending twine Monday
Jarry will defend the road crease during Monday's preseason game against the Red Wings, Matt Vensel of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Jarry made his preseason debut Friday against Detroit, and he's expected to play the full game during Monday's matchup. Jarry turned aside 11 of 13 shots during Friday's home game against the Red Wings while playing just over half of the matchup. The 30-year-old will likely begin the regular season as the Penguins' No. 1 netminder, but Arturs Silovs could push for playing time if Jarry struggles at some point.
-
Jeremy Swayman G | BOS
Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Will start against Philadelphia
Swayman will defend the home crease during Monday's preseason game against the Flyers, Joe Haggerty of Boston Sports Journal reports.
The Bruins are planning for Swayman to play the entirety of Monday's matchup with just over a week remaining before the start of the regular season. Swayman will attempt to bounce back this year after he went 22-29-7 with a 3.11 GAA and .892 save percentage over 58 regular-season appearances during the 2024-25 campaign.
-
Dustin Wolf G | CGY
Flames' Dustin Wolf: Starting against Kraken
Wolf will be between the pipes on the road for Monday's preseason game in Seattle, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Wolf may feature only once more during the preseason as he likely prepares to be the starter for Opening Night against the Oilers on Oct. 8. In 53 regular-season appearances last year, the young backstop went 29-16-8 with a 2.64 GAA and three shutouts. Looking ahead to 2025-26, Wolf could push for closer to 60 games, which could see him break the 30-win threshold this time around.

Drew Commesso G | CHI
Blackhawks' Drew Commesso: Sent down Monday
Commesso was assigned to AHL Rockford on Monday.
Commesso spent some time with the Blackhawks during training camp, but he'll officially head back to the minors ahead of the regular season. The 23-year-old made 39 regular-season appearances for Rockford last year and went 18-15-4 with a 2.54 GAA and .911 save percentage. He'll be a candidate to be called up by Chicago if Spencer Knight or Arvid Soderblom deal with injuries.
