Athletics' Brent Rooker: Shelved by strained oblique
The Athletics placed Rooker on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right oblique strain.
Rooker suffered the injury on a swing during Thursday's game against the Yankees. He will be eligible for activation April 20, though oblique strains often require longer than minimum stints on the IL. Carlos Cortes is getting a start at designated hitter for the Athletics on Friday against the Mets in the team's first game without Rooker.

Athletics' Brent Rooker: Leaves game with flank discomfort
Rooker was pulled from Thursday's game against the Yankees in the first inning due to right flank discomfort, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Rooker tweaked his side on a swing and was removed from the contest mid at-bat. He will undergo imaging Friday, Gallegos adds, before more is known about Rooker's condition, but a trip to the injured list could be in the cards. If Rooker is forced to miss time, it could result in additional playing time for Carlos Cortes and/or Andy Ibanez.

Athletics' Brent Rooker: Exits Thursday's game with injury
Rooker departed Thursday's game versus the Yankees in the first inning with an undisclosed injury, the "Talkin' Baseball" podcast by Jomboy Media reports.
Rooker took a healthy cut at a Ryan Weathers changeup and fouled it off but looked to tweak something in the process. He was visited by the Athletics trainer and quickly retreated to the clubhouse. The A's should provide more clarity on Rooker's injury soon. Lawrence Butler replaced Rooker in Thursday's contest.

Athletics' Brent Rooker: Two homers, six RBI in walk-off win
Rooker went 2-for-4 with two home runs, six RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's 12-10 win over the Astros.
Prior to Sunday's game, Rooker opened the season 4-for-30 with one RBI and a 3:14 BB:K across 33 trips to the plate. Rooker busted the slump in a big way in Sunday's back-and-forth affair. He hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth, broke a 5-5 tie with a two-run homer in the seventh and then walked it off with a three-run shot in the bottom of the 10th inning. Rooker now has his slash line up to .176/.256/.353 through nine games.

Athletics' Brent Rooker: Strong spring continues
Rooker went 2-for-3 with a double in Friday's Cactus League win over the Cubs.
Rooker didn't drive in a run but still squared the ball up consistently Friday, as his fourth-inning single registered at 105 mph off the bat while his fifth-inning double left the bat at 109.2 mph. Coming off three consecutive seasons with 30-plus homers and an OPS north of .800 in each campaign, the 31-year-old has looked locked in this spring, slashing .349/.404/.721 with four doubles, four homers and 10 RBI across 16 Cactus League appearances, and he'll enter the 2026 regular season with high expectations at the plate.
