  • Titans' Buster Skrine: Lands on COVID list

Skrine (illness) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. The designation came as a result of a positive test, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Skrine joined the Titans on Nov. 23 and has been a consistent presence in the secondary, having played no less than 98 percent of the defensive snaps in any of their last three contests. He'll try to clear protocols in time for Sunday, when Tennessee hosts the Dolphins.

  • Buster Skrine: Let go by 49ers

Skrine was cut from the practice squad Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Skrine had only been with the 49ers for a couple of weeks. The 11-year vet was active Week 4, but he only played three special-teams snaps. Skrine was a regular in the Bears' defense the last two seasons and now will look to potentially continue his career elsewhere. In a corresponding move, San Francisco activated cornerback Davontae Harris from IR.

  • 49ers' Buster Skrine: Inks deal with 49ers

Skrine signed with the 49ers on Tuesday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports. Injuries are stacking up in the 49ers' secondary. Jason Verrett tore his ACL in Week 1. K'Waun Williams (calf) is expected to miss a few weeks. And Josh Norman is dealing with a lung contusion. Skrine, 32, averaged 46.3 defensive snaps across 12 games for the Bears last season, so he'll add dependable depth while the Niners heal.

Skrine (concussion) has been released by the Bears, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Skrine was entering the final year of his contract with Chicago, but it ultimately has opted to go in a different direction. He recorded 112 tackles (89 solo) and three passes defensed during his two-year stint with the team. Besides the Bears, the 31-year-old has spent time with the Browns and Jets during his time in the league. He now will look for a new opportunity.

  • Bears' Buster Skrine: Out against Vikings

Skrine (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Vikings. Skrine didn't practice all week and will miss a second consecutive game. The Bears could be without two of their top three cornerbacks if Jaylon Johnson -- who didn't practice all week and is considered questionable with a shoulder injury -- is also ruled out. Skrine will aim to progress through the league's concussion protocol before the Week 16 matchup against the Jaguars.

  • Bears' Buster Skrine: Best performance of season

Skrine tallied 13 stops in Chicago's 41-25 loss to the Packers on Sunday. Skrine had failed to exceed seven tackles in any game this season, but Aaron Rodgers made it a point to pick on him in the passing attack, which led to a solid fantasy performance. He's recorded at least five tackles in five of his last six games, giving him an excellent floor for a defensive back in IDP leagues.

  • Bears' Buster Skrine: Upgrades to limited participation

Skrine (ankle) is questionable for Monday's game versus the Rams. Skrine was unable to practice Thursday or Friday, but he got on the field in a limited capacity Saturday, giving him a chance to play Monday. The veteran corner has started the last two games for the Bears and has logged at least 63 percent of the snap share in each game this year, so it'd be a big loss if he was unable to suit up. Rookie fifth-rounder Kindle Vildor likely would take Skrine's place, but he's played just one defensive snap all year.

He'll likely continue to function as a low-upside IDP option.

  • Bears' Buster Skrine: Ready to rock

Skrine (finger) is active for Sunday's game versus the Lions. Skrine was a full participant in practice Thursday and Friday, so he shouldn't be held back in the season opener. The 31-year-old cornerback may only play in nickel packages, however, as Kyle Fuller and rookie Jaylon Johnson are projected to start in base defense.

  • Jets' Buster Skrine: Leads team in tackles Monday

Skrine posted a team-high seven solo tackles in Monday's win over the Lions. Skrine played in 59 of the team's 70 defensive snaps Monday night in what was a stellar defensive performance from the Jets. The defensive back is coming off a 2017 campaign where he recorded a career-high 56 solo tackles, so Skrine appears to be picking up right where he left off.

Skrine (concussion) did not participate in Wednesday's practice. Skrine was sidelined during Sunday's win over the 49ers due to a concussion, and he has yet to clear the league's protocol. • Jets' Buster Skrine: Suffers concussion Sunday

Skrine sustained a concussion during Sunday's win at San Francisco, the New York Post reports. Skrine left the game in the first half and was eventually ruled out due to a head injury. Now that a diagnosis has been passed down, he'll be subject to the concussion protocol, which a player can only escape from when cleared by an independent neurologist. If Skrine doesn't emerge in time for this Saturday's contest against the Dolphins, Marcus Williams will likely start at cornerback opposite Darrelle Revis.

The Jets will make their 2015 season debut Sunday against the Browns, and the team will have plenty of new defensive acquisitions on display. Plus, first-round pick Leonard Williams will move into the starting lineup due to Sheldon Richardson's four-game suspension. "I believe we can be as good as we want," defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson said, per NJ.com. "We can be great. We can be the No. 1 defense in the league. We've just got to come in each and every week improving and do our jobs every Sunday." The Jets defense is expected to be aggressive, especially with the blitz, under first-year coach Todd Bowles.
