  • Kevin Hogan: Let go by Titans

Tennesse cut Hogan from the practice squad Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Hogan spent the 2021 campaign with Tennessee's practice squad before re-signing with this unit Dec. 13. However, the veteran journeyman never worked his way onto the active roster even though starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill (ankle) ended the season on IR, as Joshua Dobbs stepped into the No. 1 role ahead of rookie Malik Willis. Hogan will now likely look for a new team where he'll have a chance to make his NFL debut heading into the 2023 season.

  • Texans' Kevin Hogan: Inks deal with Houston

Hogan agreed to a contract with the Texans on Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. After being cut by the Titans following the 2022 NFL Draft last weekend, Hogan didn't take long to find a new home. Since being selected in the fifth round of the 2016, Hogan has bounced around the league, spending time with the Browns, Commanders, Broncos and Bengals while appearing in nine career games. Hogan will likely compete against Kyle Allen and Jeff Driskel for backup duties to top signal-caller Davis Mills.

  • Kevin Hogan: Joins Bengals' practice squad

Hogan signed with Cincinnati's practice squad Saturday. The 28-year-old last saw game action in 2017 with the Browns, but he'll now receive an opportunity with the Bengals. Hogan provides depth behind Brandon Allen and Ryan Finley now that Joe Burrow (knee) is on injured reserve.

  • Broncos' Kevin Hogan: Pair of picks in preseason finale

Hogan completed 12 of 23 passes for 138 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in the Broncos' 20-7 preseason win over the Cardinals on Thursday. Hogan outgained fellow signal-caller Brett Rypien in passing yardage, but he averaged just 6.0 yards per attempt and short-circuited two drives with his picks. The third-year quarterback is battling Rypien to open the season as Joe Flacco's primary backup, and neither has has pulled clearly ahead of the other with their play. Therefore, further insight will have to be gleaned from final cuts and related developments over the coming days.

  • Broncos' Kevin Hogan: Posts 83 total yards

Hogan started Saturday's 10-6 preseason loss to the Rams, completing eight of 12 attempts for 69 yards and rushing four times for 14 yards while playing the first three series. The third-year signal-caller did well during his starting stint, though it's worth noting the Rams did not treat the contest as any sort of dress rehearsal. In fact, Los Angeles sat its first-team defense, but Hogan was able to lead an 11-play, 63-yard march that culminated in a field goal on his last possession of the game. Coach Vic Fangio has stated Brett Rypien is competing with Hogan for the No. 2 quarterback job to open the season with Drew Lock (thumb) sidelined, and Hogan appears to have turned in a more productive performance Saturday on a yards-per-attempt basis while also flashing his signature mobility.

  • Broncos' Kevin Hogan: Starting Saturday versus Rams

Hogan will start during Saturday's preseason game against the Rams, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. Hogan's chances of earning a 53-man roster spot improve for the time being with Drew Lock (thumb) recovering from a thumb sprain. Lock will skip the beginning of the regular season, leaving Hogan and Brett Rypien to vie for the backup job to open 2019. Hogan's start Thursday is likely another indicator that he's in the lead for that role.

  • Broncos' Kevin Hogan: Will start preseason opener

Hogan will start the preseason opener against Atlanta on Thursday, Zac Stevens of BSN Denver reports. By most accounts, Hogan has struggled this offseason but still offers the most stable option behind Joe Flacco with a pair of rookies behind him. Those rookies -- for whom Denver invested a second-round pick and six-figure free-agent signing bonus -- are both still more likely to be with the team in September than Hogan, but the Stanford product will get the first crack at changing the narrative Thursday.

  • Broncos' Kevin Hogan: Re-signing with Denver

Hogan is re-signing with the Broncos, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports. Hogan was allowed to hit free agency after Denver declined to extend him a contract tender, but he's nonetheless returning to the team that claimed him off waivers from Washington last September. He'll compete with Garrett Grayson and possibly a draft pick for the No. 2 role behind Joe Flacco.

  • Kevin Hogan: Enters free agency

Hogan became an unrestricted free agent Wednesday after the Broncos decline to tender him a contract for 2019, freelance NFL writer Howard Balzer reports. Hogan served as the Broncos' backup quarterback for the latter half of the past season after the team released Chad Kelly. The Broncos are doing a near-complete overhaul of their quarterback room this offseason, as the team has already acquired Joe Flacco from the Ravens while shipping 2018 starter Case Keenum out to the Redskins.

  • Broncos' Kevin Hogan: Claimed by Denver

Hogan was claimed off waivers by the Broncos, Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports. It's been an interesting offseason for Hogan, who was traded from the Browns to the Redskins in April and now winds up replacing first-round bust Paxton Lynch in Denver. Hogan will initially slot in as the No. 3 quarterback behind Case Keenum and Chad Kelly.

  • Browns' Kevin Hogan: Throws four touchdowns in 2017

Hogan appeared in four games and completed 46 of 75 passes for 517 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions. For a brief moment this season, Hogan replaced DeShone Kizer as Cleveland's starting quarterback, though that was short-lived, as the former Standford signal-caller three interceptions against the Texans before handing the reins back to Kizer the following week. Hogan has been inconsistent at best to start his career, with four touchdowns passes and seven interceptions on only 101 pass attempts. The Browns -- who have two of the first four picks of the 2018 NFL Draft -- are likely to draft another quarterback in April, and with Kizer essentially a lock to make the team's final roster, Hogan -- along with Cody Kessler -- could be shown the door.

  • Browns' Kevin Hogan: Inactive again Sunday

Hogan (coach's decision) is listed as inactive Sunday against the Vikings in London. After four appearances this season, including a start in Week 6, Hogan was relegated to third-string quarterback behind DeShone Kizer and Cody Kessler in advance of Week 7. Subsequently, Hogan will reside on the inactive list for a second straight contest, though there's no guarantee he'll stay there considering head coach Hue Jackson's quick trigger finger this season.

  • Browns' Kevin Hogan: Technically part of QB competition

Browns general manager Sashi Brown suggested Hogan will be part of the team's quarterback competition, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. "I think it's going to be an open competition," said Brown. "[Head coach] Hue [Jackson] and [quarterbacks coach] David [Lee] will decide ultimately who our starter will be, but we're excited about all three of those guys, and DeShone [Kizer] coming into that room to give us a fourth opportunity for a guy who may become our starter. But I think the spring and certainly training camp will help us iron that out." A fifth-round selection last year, Hogan was released by the Chiefs before Week 1and signed to the Cleveland practice squad shortly thereafter. He was then promoted to the active roster and even replaced an injured Cody Kessler in Week 7 against the Bengals, rushing for 104 yards and a touchdown but also throwing a pair of interceptions. Hogan may technically be a part of the quarterback competition in training camp, but he'll realistically just be hoping to beat out Brock Osweiler for a roster spot. Kessler is the favorite to start Week 1, and second-round rookie DeShone Kizer is also assured of a spot on the team.

  • Kevin Hogan: Joining Cleveland practice squad

Hogan is joining the Cleveland practice squad, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports. Selected in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Hogan landed with a Kansas City team that was looking to replace backup quarterback Chase Daniels. The Chiefs ultimately opted to go with more experience behind Alex Smith, keeping Nick Foles and Tyler Bray on the 53-man roster. Hogan found a nice landing spot in Cleveland, as the Browns may look to replace both Robert Griffin and Josh McCown after the season. Third-round rookie Cody Kessler is the team's No. 3 quarterback.

  • Kevin Hogan: Cut by Chiefs

Hogan was released by the Chiefs on Saturday as part of the cuts to get down to the 53-man roster. Hogan sat behind four other quarterbacks, so the fact that he didn't earn a spot on the 53-man roster shouldn't come as much of a surprise. He remains a candidate for the Chiefs' practice squad but there's no guarantee Kansas City will sign him to it.
