  • Cornell Armstrong: Released with injury settlement

The Dolphins released Armstrong (hamstring) with an injury settlement Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Armstrong was placed on injured reserve Wednesday but will now be free to look for a new team once he's deemed healthy. Armstrong played 63 defensive snaps across three games with Miami, logging two tackles (one solo).

  • Dolphins' Cornell Armstrong: Headed to IR

Head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters Wednesday that Armstrong (hamstring) will be placed on injured reserve, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports. Armstrong sustained a hamstring injury in the Dolphins' Week 5 loss to the Panthers that's now expected to sideline him for at least the team's next four games. Expect Jack Jones, JuJu Brents and Rasul Douglas to serve as Miami's top outside cornerbacks while Armstrong is unavailable.

  • Cornell Armstrong: Cut by Atlanta

Armstrong (hamstring) was waived/injured by the Falcons on Tuesday, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports. Armstrong was working with the second-team defense and was expected to play as a rotational corner before suffering this hamstring injury. Don't be surprised if the 27-year-old ends up back with Atlanta at some point this year.

  • Cornell Armstrong: Headed back to Atlanta

The Falcons signed Armstrong (undisclosed) to the practice squad Monday, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports. Armstrong was previously placed on Atlanta's IR due to an undisclosed injury in mid-August before being let go with an injury settlement. The fifth-year cornerback did not play in 2021 after he was similarly waived with an injury settlement from Houston's IR last September, and he has played only 136 defensive snaps during his career.

  • Cornell Armstrong: Clears COVID protocols

Armstrong was activated from the Falcons' practice squad COVID-19 list Tuesday. Armstrong signed with the Falcons' practice squad on Dec. 7 and ended up on the COVID list one week later. Now that he is healthy, he'll try to earn a spot on the active roster before the season comes to a close, or at least prove he deserves a shot with the Falcons in 2022.

  • Cornell Armstrong: Waived with injury designation

Armstrong (undisclosed) was waived/injured by the Texans on Monday, independent NFL journalist Aaron Wilson reports. Armstrong played 10 games for the Texans last year exclusively in a special-teams role. The 2018 sixth-round pick is expected to clear waivers and land on injured reserve, where he'll spend the rest of the season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team.

  • Texans' Cornell Armstrong: Picks up knee injury

Armstrong (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game versus the Titans. Armstrong popped up on the injury report Friday after logging a limited practice session. Considering he was still able to practice in some capacity, the third-year cornerback is likely a game-time decision for Sunday, although his status shouldn't affect the defense either way since he's been a healthy scratch through the first five games.

  • Texans' Cornell Armstrong: Bumps up to active roster

The Texans promoted Armstrong to the active roster Saturday, NFL agent Brett Tessler reports. Since the Texans' top two cornerbacks -- Johnathan Joseph and Bradley Roby -- are both questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders with hamstring injuries, the Texans brought up Armstrong as depth. He'll likely stick in a special-teams role as long as there aren't further injuries.
