  • DeShone Kizer: Back on Tennessee's practice squad

Kizer signed with the Titans' practiced squad Friday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports. Kizer was with the Titans in camp but ultimately failed to make the team. The familiar face returns to provide depth under center while fellow reserve quarterback Logan Woodside is on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

  • Titans' DeShone Kizer: Inks future contract with Titans

Kizer signed a reserve/future contract with the Titans on Monday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports. Kizer was cut from the Raiders' practice squad in September and eventually latched on with the Titans' practice roster in late November. The 25-year-old quarterback never was called up for any game action, and he hasn't played since logging three games with the Packers back in 2018. In those contests, Kizer completed 20 of 42 passes for 187 yards (4.5 YPA), no touchdowns and two interceptions. The 2017 second-round pick will battle to be Ryan Tannehill's backup next season.

  • DeShone Kizer: Finds practice squad role

The Raiders signed Kizer to the practice squad Monday, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. Kizer was cut by the Raiders back in May and didn't work with them through training camp, but he'll serve as additional depth for the team's quarterback room. The 24-year-old hasn't played since 2018, when he was with the Packers when he completed 20 of 42 passes for 187 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. The 2017 second-round pick has struggled to establish himself in the league, but this provide him with an opportunity to learn from head coach Jon Gruden as he looks to restart his career.

  • Raiders' DeShone Kizer: Jumps to No. 2 role

Kizer supplanted Mike Glennon as the No. 2 quarterback on Oakland's roster Thursday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports. Kizer has been a healthy scratch for the Raiders all season, but he stands to be active against Tennessee on Sunday as the top backup to Derek Carr. As a result, Mike Glennon will likely serve as the team's reserve option going forward.

  • Raiders' DeShone Kizer: Healthy scratch Monday

Kizer (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's game against the Broncos. Kizer joined the Raiders on Sept. 1, but will have to wait at least another week to don the silver and black. With the Notre Dame product sitting Monday, Mike Glennon will be tasked with backing up Derek Carr.

  • Packers' DeShone Kizer: Drawing poor offseason reviews

Kizer struggled during the portions of the Packers' spring workouts that were available to the media, Mark Feldmann of the Racine Journal Times reports. Observers offered similar criticisms for fellow reserve quarterback Tim Boyle, which isn't good news for a Packers organization that has seen Aaron Rodgers miss time due to injury both of the past two seasons. There's plenty of time for both players to turn things around in training camp, but it's also possible that Green Bay acquires a more serviceable No. 2 option ahead of the regular season.

  • Packers' DeShone Kizer: Continues to be turnover machine

Kizer completed 16 of 35 attempts, throwing for 132 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception during Sunday's 31-0 loss to Detroit. He also added four rushes for 40 yards on the afternoon. Kizer has demonstrated raw arm talent and glimpses of brilliance as a rusher from time to time, but his first two years in the NFL have been a supreme disappointment overall. Having entered the league as a second-round draft choice of Cleveland in 2017, the Notre Dame product has proceeded to complete fewer than 54 percent of his attempts, while owning an abysmal 11:24 TD:INT ratio for his career. Kizer's roster spot in Green Bay is far from guaranteed heading into 2019, as his ability to contribute as a reliable backup to Aaron Rodgers remains very much in question with this latest dud against Detroit's top-10 pass defense.

  • Packers' DeShone Kizer: Struggles with turnovers in relief

Kizer completed four of seven passes for 55 yards while temporarily filling in for an injured Aaron Rodgers in Sunday's victory over the Bears. Kizer did not toss a touchdown but did throw an interception and lost a fumble as well. Kizer held his own immediately after entering the game, marching the Packers down the field into scoring position. However, a careless fumble -- while influenced by pressure from Khalil Mack -- cost the Packers any points, and his interception on the next drive that Mack took to the house gave the Bears a 17-point lead heading into halftime. Kizer has now seen action in 16 NFL games, but mistakes are still clearly an issue. Still, if Rodgers misses any further action, the Packers will have to sink or swim with Kizer.

  • Packers' DeShone Kizer: On track to open as backup

Kizer is on track to open the season as the Packers' backup quarterback following the team's trade of Brett Hundley to the Seahawks on Wednesday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports. While Kizer has not officially been named the No. 2 quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers, Hundley's departure leaves undrafted rookie Tim Boyle as the only other quarterback on the roster, so it all but guarantees Kizer the job unless the Packers add another player at the position prior to Week 1. Kizer started 15 games for the Browns as a rookie last season, but the Packers are no doubt hoping he only sees the field in inconsequential situations in 2018.

  • Browns' DeShone Kizer: Two more turnovers in loss

Kizer completed 18 of 36 passes for 182 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 20-3 loss to the Bears. He also gained eight yards on three rushes. The rookie's turnover issues continued, as he was picked off by Kyle Fuller at the Bears' five-yard line just before the two-minute warning in the first half and victimized a second time by Bryce Callahan with 4:21 remaining at Chicago's 37. Kizer averaged an unsightly 5.1 yards per attempt and threw multiple interceptions for the third consecutive game. Given his ongoing struggles, it remains to be seen if he'll have an opportunity to start the regular-season finale against the Steelers in Week 17.

  • Browns' DeShone Kizer: Three turnovers in loss

Kizer completed 20 of 37 passes for 146 yards with two interceptions and a fumble during Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Ravens. He also added seven rushes for 35 yards. Once again, the rookie signal-caller failed to impress his new general manager John Dorsey, and the notion that the Browns will use its likely No. 1 overall pick on a quarterback in next year's draft continues to grow stronger amidst Kizer's repeated struggles. The only touchdown by Cleveland on the day was set up by a long run by Isaiah Crowell, with Duke Johnson ultimately running in for a score. Other than that, though, Kizer failed to consistently move the ball, with the Browns finishing with just 266 yards of offense. Coach Hue Jackson is desperate for a win and has repeatedly said he has no patience of turnovers, so it'll be interested to see if Kizer is back under center in Week 16 versus the Bears.

  • Browns' DeShone Kizer: Facing competition on horizon

Browns head coach Hue Jackson acknowledged that the team may use its first-round pick in the 2018 draft on a quarterback, but he also said that Kizer still has a shot to be the franchise's future at the position, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports. Kizer has shown signs of improvement the last five games, cutting down on turnovers while making some big plays with both his arm and his feet. He still completed less than 60 percent of his passes in each of those games, bottoming out at 46.9 percent in Sunday's 19-10 loss to the Chargers despite having both Josh Gordon and Corey Coleman at his disposal. Kizer hasn't done nearly enough to dissuade the Browns from bringing in another quarterback, but he can at least use the final four weeks of the season to convince the team that he deserves a shot to compete for the starting job next year. While the 2017 second-round pick won't turn 22 until January, it already seems most likely his future in Cleveland will be as a backup. As for the immediate future, Kizer will take aim at a shaky Green Bay pass defense in Week 14.

  • Browns' DeShone Kizer: Returns to game

Kizer is returning to Sunday's game after being evaluated for a concussion. Kizer exited Sunday's game in the second quarter to be evaluated for a concussion, but he's now returned after missing just over five minutes of game time. He'll be expected to finish out the game under center, barring further injury.

  • Browns' DeShone Kizer: Returns to full practice

Kizer (ribs) practiced fully Thursday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. Kizer, who briefly left the team's Week 10 loss to the Lions after bruising his ribs, was limited Wednesday, but his return to a full practice Thursday signals that he'll be fine for Sunday's home game against the Jaguars. The impending return of wideout Corey Coleman (hand) from injured reserve should boost Kizer's prospects down the stretch, but a run-heavy approach could be in order this weekend, with snow, wind and cold temperatures in the forecast for Cleveand on Sunday, according to Patrick Maks of the Browns' official site.

  • Browns' DeShone Kizer: Exits game with rib injury

Kizer was forced out of Sunday's game against the Lions after taking a hard shot to the ribs, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. With Kizer dealing with a rib injury, Cody Kessler has taken over at QB for the Browns. Prior to his exit, Kizer had completed 15 of 24 passes for 178 yards and a TD, while adding seven carries for 57 yards and a TD.

  • Browns' DeShone Kizer: Replaced by Kessler

Kizer was replaced at QB by Cody Kessler in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Titans, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports. Kizer was pulled from the game after throwing back-to-back interceptions. The rookie QB was also replaced at halftime of the Browns' Week 5 loss to the Jets and then gave way to Kevin Hogan, who served as the Week 6 starter against the Texans.

  • Browns' DeShone Kizer: Regains starting role

Browns head coach Hue Jackson announced Wednesday that Kizer would reclaim starting quarterback duties for Sunday's game against the Titans, Andrew Gribble of the Browns' official site reports. Kevin Hogan's run as the starter lasted just one game after the second-year signal caller failed to deliver the Browns their first win of the season Sunday against the Texans, completing 20 of 37 passes for 154 yards while tossing three interceptions in the outing. Jackson's comments after that game hinted that Kizer, who submitted a league-worst 49.5 passer rating through his first five NFL starts, would receive another shot at running the offense, so it's not overly surprising that the team will turn to the rookie once again. While watching last Sunday's game from the sideline might have proven beneficial for Kizer, it's unlikely that he'll have gleaned enough from that experience to dramatically turn around his ugly numbers and make for an attractive fantasy option heading into Week 7. Until he reins in the turnovers and proves capable of consistently surpassing 200-plus passing yards in games, Kizer won't be deserving of much attention outside of leagues that start two quarterbacks.

  • Browns' DeShone Kizer: Expected to regain starting role

Browns head coach Hue Jackson is expected to name Kizer the team's starting quarterback Wednesday in advance of Cleveland's Week 7 matchup against Tennessee, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports. Even after Kizer performed miserably in his first five NFL starts before being relegated to backup duties in Week 6 in favor of Kevin Hogan, it was widely expected that Kizer would get another crack at starting before the season concluded, given that the non-contending Browns have little to lose by handing the higher-upside rookie more in-game developmental opportunities. However, Kizer's appointment back into the starting lineup looks like it will come sooner than expected after Hogan, who shined in relief of Kizer in Week 5, was abysmal in last Sunday's loss to the Texans, completing only 20 of 37 passes for 140 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. With a league-worst 49.5 passer rating and nine interceptions through five contests, Kizer is unlikely to represent much of an upgrade, if any, from Hogan in his second trial as starter, so he'll need to dramatically raise his production before warranting much attention outside of deeper fantasy leagues that start two quarterbacks.

  • Browns' DeShone Kizer: Could regain starting job

Browns coach Hue Jackson said he will announce his Week 7 starting quarterback Wednesday, choosing between Kizer and Kevin Hogan, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports. Hogan was a complete disaster in Sunday's 33-17 loss to the Texans, producing just 3.8 yards per pass attempt while tossing a trio of interceptions. Kizer has suffered through a couple similarly poor performances this season, but it nonetheless seems his demotion may only last a week or two. The Browns face the Titans in Week 7, and ESPN.com's Pat McManamon believes Jackson hinted that Kizer likely will get the start.

  • Browns' DeShone Kizer: Replaced by Hogan

Kevin Hogan replaced Kizer in the second half of Sunday's game against the Jets, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Prior to being replaced, Kizer had completed eight of 17 passing attempts for 87 yards, with a pick and also rushed six times for 29 yards. Kizer missed some snaps three weeks ago while dealing with a migraine, but there doesn't appear to be any health or injury concerns tied to him being pulled from this Sunday's contest.
