  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Week 3 Waiver Priority List

We'll see what happens with Raheem Mostert (chest) and Jeff Wilson (oblique) heading into Week 3 at Seattle, but Wright could be the No. 2 running back in Miami behind De'Von Achane for now. It might not lead to many touches, and the Dolphins offense could struggle with Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) hurt. But Wright could also be in line for a lot of work if something were to happen to Achane while Mostert is out. Wright is worth adding for up to 5 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Active versus Bills

Wright is active for Thursday night's game against the Bills, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports. Wright was a healthy scratch Week 1, but he'll enter Miami's backfield mix Thursday with Raheem Mostert (chest) inactive. Meanwhile, De'Von Achane (ankle), who had been listed as questionable, is active and figures to see his share of touches in the absence of any setbacks, with Jeff Wilson also a candidate to see increased work versus Buffalo. With that in mind, it remains to be seen how many touches Wright will handle in his NFL regular-season debut, but the speedy fourth-round rookie does possess intriguing playmaking upside in Miami's offense.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Likely to make NFL debut Thursday

Wright, who was a healthy inactive Week 1, seems likely to suit up for Thursday's matchup with the Bills due to Raheem Mostert (chest) being ruled out and De'Von Achane (ankle) being a game-time decision, Chris Brown of the Bills Radio Network reports. Wright, a rookie fourth-round pick, boasts explosiveness but not experience over 28-year-old veteran Jeff Wilson, but both players will stand to see expanded opportunities Thursday with Mostert ruled out. Depending on Achane's status for Week 2, it could even fall to Wright and Wilson to handle the entirety of Miami's backfield workload, in which case the team might have no choice other than to ride the hot hand. Wright impressed in the preseason and boasts 4.38-second 40-yard dash speed, making him a big-play candidate even on limited touches.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Week 2 Waiver Priority List

Jeff Wilson (1 percent rostered) might benefit the most if one or both of De'Von Achane (ankle) or Raheem Mostert (chest) are out for Thursday's game against Buffalo since he played in Week 1, while Wright was a healthy scratch. But I would hope that if the Dolphins need running back help we'll see Wright in an expanded role, and he has more upside than Wilson. I'd add Wright for 10-15 percent of your remaining FAB, and Wilson is worth adding for 5-10 percent of your remaining FAB. Just stay tuned to Tuesday's injury report to see the practice status for Achane and Mostert heading into Thursday's game.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Won't suit up Week 1

Wright (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Though the Dolphins invested a fourth-round pick into him during April's draft and he impressed out of the backfield in Miami's preseason finale, Wright will have to wait at least another week to make his NFL debut. With starter Raheem Mostert and change-of-pace dynamo De'Von Achane both entering the season healthy, the Dolphins won't have much of a role on offense available for Wright. The Tennessee product also didn't lock down a special-teams role coming out of the preseason, so Jeff Wilson will dress ahead of Wright as the Dolphins' No. 3 back.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Racks up 77 total yards Friday

Wright (undisclosed) rushed seven times for 36 yards and caught four of six targets for 41 yards in Friday's 24-14 preseason loss to the Buccaneers. Wright was held out of the previous preseason game against the Commanders due to an undisclosed injury, but the rookie fourth-round pick's sizable workload Friday suggests he's back to full health. He's the latest speedster to join a Dolphins backfield led by Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane, but Wright could struggle to earn playing time early in his career while those other two running backs are healthy. Wright will get a chance to make his NFL regular-season debut Sept. 8 against the Jaguars.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Held out due to injury

Wright was held out of Saturday's preseason contest against the Commanders due to an unspecified injury, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports. It's not clear what injury Wright picked up during practice this week, but head coach Mike McDaniel didn't seem concerned about the severity. It seems likely the rookie running back will return to practice in short order and build upon what was an excellent preseason opener, one in which the 2024 third-round pick ran for 55 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Not in uniform

Wright isn't in uniform ahead of Saturday's preseason game against Washington, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Wright took 10 carries for 55 yards and a TD in Miami's preseason-opening win over the Falcons last Friday, breaking off a couple runs that allowed him to flash his impressive speed. With no injury reported, the Dolphins may just be holding the rookie out to get other players more snaps.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Putting forth strong training camp

Dolphins running backs coach Eric Studesville said Thursday that Wright has been "highly motivated to be really good" at training camp and is "working and positioning himself to do all those things," Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports. Studesville said Wright is still in the process of fully acclimating to Miami's offensive scheme, which includes an above average amount of motions and designed concepts, but that the rookie fourth-round pick has been "spending extra time doing things" at practice. Meanwhile, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site has continually mentioned Wright as a standout of training camp, singling out his speed and physicality. The former Tennessee star seems an ideal fit for coach Mike McDaniel's scheme, though it's hard to picture him receiving many rushing opportunities unless at least one of Raheem Mostert or De'Von Achane ends up missing time.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Miami ends fall in fourth round

The Dolphins selected Wright in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 120th overall. It might seem like an annoying landing spot for Wright (5-foot-11, 210 pounds) at a glance, but the former Tennessee speedster could earn more playing time than most third-string runners in Miami due to the limited workload capacities of Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane. Not just that, but Wright's blazing speed (4.38-second 40) is a perfect fit for what coach Mike McDaniel does in the running game. The Dolphins have an interest in managing the workloads of Mostert and Achane so that their rare explosiveness is still intact come playoff time, and Wright gives them a means of doing so at little or no cost to effectiveness. Defenses praying for relief from the Miami speed onslaught will find no such thing when Wright takes the field. Wright probably isn't a truly complete running back and might not ever be a volume candidate himself, but Mostert and Achane have already demonstrated how a speedy runner can do major damage in the Miami offense even with modest workloads.
