NFL News and Notes: OTAs Underway As Teams Evaluate QB Rooms

Fantasy News

  • Browns' Alex Wright: Records career highs in 2025

Wright had career highs in tackles (37) and sacks (5.5) along with one pass defensed and one forced fumble over 14 regular-season games in 2025. Like other players on the defensive line, Wright operated outside the limelight that shone on Myles Garrett, who established a new NFL record with 23.0 sacks in 2025. However, Wright's most productive season of his four-year career did not go unnoticed, as the Browns signed him to a three-year extension in November of 2025. Playing opposite Garrett, who draws a lot of attention, could lead to more sacks for Wright in 2026.

  • Browns' Alex Wright: Good to go

Wright (quadriceps) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Titans, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. Wright missed the Browns' Week 13 loss to the 49ers with a quadriceps injury, but three practices capped off with a full session Friday were enough to avoid an injury designation for Sunday's contest. The return of the starting defensive end opposite Myles Garrett is a huge boon for a Browns defensive line that is already without Maliek Collins (quadriceps) and potentially without Mason Graham (ribs).

  • Browns' Alex Wright: Lands three-year, $33M extension

Wright (quadriceps) agreed to a three-year, $33 million extension with the Browns on Thursday, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Wright's contract includes $21 million guaranteed and is set to keep him in Cleveland through the end of the 2028 season. The 25-year-old rotational pass rusher is recovering from a quadriceps injury, which kept him sidelined for a second consecutive practice Thursday, but the 2-8 Browns are focused on the future with this deal. Wright ranks third on the team with 3.0 sacks among his nine tackles for loss in nine games this season.

  • Browns' Alex Wright: Ruled out Week 11 but avoids IR

Wright (quadriceps) won't play Sunday against the Ravens, but coach Kevin Stefanski said Friday that Wright won't be placed on injured reserve, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Wright hasn't recovered from the quadriceps injury he sustained in Cleveland's Week 10 loss to the Jets, but the team is optimistic that he will take less than four weeks to recover. His next chance to play will come in Week 12 against the Raiders.

  • Browns' Alex Wright: Medically cleared to play

Wright (triceps) has been medically cleared to play, Scott Petrak of the BrownsZone reports. He will likely spend the remainder of the offseason competing for a roster spot and can add value as both a depth defender and as a special teamer.

  • Browns' Alex Wright: Season over

Wright announced via his personal Instagram account Thursday that he'll miss the rest of the season due to a torn triceps, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Wright's absence will be a blow to the Browns' defensive-line depth, as he regularly rotated in. He'll undergo surgery and likely be placed on injured reserve in the next couple of days, when he'll turn his focus to his recovery. The third-year pro will finish his 2024 campaign with eight combined tackles, including 1.0 sacks.

  • Browns' Alex Wright: Limited in practice Wednesday

Wright (knee) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports. Wright is still dealing with a knee injury first suffered Week 8 that forced the 23-year-old to miss last week's win against the Cardinals. The 2022 third-round pick will look to return to action Sunday versus the Ravens where he can contribute on both defense and special teams.

Wright (knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Wright has mostly operated as a depth defensive lineman as well as on special teams. Ogbonnia Okoronkwo could see more defensive snaps behind Myles Garrett and Za'Darius Smith for as long as Wright remains off the field.

  • Browns' Alex Wright: Ready for Week 6

Wright (chest) did not appear on the Browns' injury report Wednesday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Wright went into the bye week dealing with a chest injury that he suffered in the team's Week 4 loss to the Ravens, but he now appears to be ready to go for Sunday's contest with San Francisco. The defensive lineman has recorded seven tackles, including a sack, over Cleveland's first four games of 2023.

  • Browns' Alex Wright: Undergoes knee procedure

Wright underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday. Wright suffered the injury during the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday. His recovery time could take several weeks, which should leave his status for Week 1 in doubt.
