  • DeGrom didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Twins, allowing one run on two hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out eight. With the Rangers out of the playoff hunt, it wasn't surprising to see deGrom's night end after he threw only 74 pitches. However, it was still a fine performance from the All-Star right-hander, who tossed at least five frames while yielding one or zero runs for the 12th time in 30 outings this season. DeGrom isn't scheduled to pitch again this season, though fantasy managers have to be pleased by the fact that the oft-injured righty hurled 172.2 innings, his most since 2019. He'll close the campaign with an outstanding 2.97 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 185:37 K:BB.

  • DeGrom (12-8) took the loss against Houston on Wednesday, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six batters over five innings. DeGrom struggled from the outset, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk in the first inning. The veteran hurler then gave up a two-run homer in the third inning and a solo shot in the fifth, marking the second time in his past three starts that he's yielded multiple long balls. DeGrom did record a decent 11 whiffs and six punchouts, but he continued what has been just a so-so second half. He didn't give up more than four runs in any of his 19 starts prior to the All-Star break, but in the second half he's allowed five runs on three separate occasions through 10 outings. That's brought his ERA up from 2.32 at the break to 3.01 after Wednesday's loss.

  • DeGrom (12-7) picked up the win Friday, giving up three runs on four hits over seven innings in an 8-3 victory over the Mets. He struck out two without walking a batter. The veteran righty didn't display the same kind of dominance he possessed the last time he stepped on the mound at Citi Field at the end of the 2022 season while a member of the Mets -- deGrom managed to generate only five swinging strikes on 88 pitches (59 total strikes) -- but he didn't need to as the Rangers backed his revenge game with six runs in the top of the first inning. DeGrom was still plenty effective, retiring the final 15 batters he faced in his 14th quality start of the year, and he hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his last six outings, posting a 2.91 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 36:6 K:BB in 34 innings over that stretch. He lines up to make his next start on the road next week in Houston as Texas tries to stay in the AL wild-card picture.

  • DeGrom (11-7) took the loss against the Astros on Saturday, surrendering three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over 5.1 innings. DeGrom opened the night in dominant fashion, striking out the side in the first inning before a clean second, but his outing would unravel as the game went on. The right-hander gave up solo homers to Christian Walker in the third and Yordan Alvarez in the fifth before exiting in the sixth with two runners on, leaving him two outs shy of what would have been his first quality start since August 9. Despite piling up 47 strikeouts in his last seven outings, deGrom has dropped five of his six decisions during that span. The 37-year-old owns a 2.78 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and a 169:35 K:BB through 155.2 innings and will look to bounce back in his next scheduled start against the high-powered Mets.
