Rowdy Tellez 1B | TEX
Rangers' Rowdy Tellez: Hitting bench vs. righty
Tellez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Since receiving a promotion from Triple-A Round Rock on July 18, Tellez has operated as the Rangers' preferred first baseman against right-handed pitching, but his hold on a strong-side platoon role could be loosening. Over his last 10 games, Tellez has cobbled together a middling .172/.250/.379 slash line. Even with righty Zac Gallen on the bump for Arizona, Tellez will give way to the right-handed-hitting Jake Burger at first base.

Nate Lowe 1B | BOS
Red Sox's Nathaniel Lowe: Homers in win
Lowe went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 11-7 win over Cleveland.
Lowe doubled and scored Boston's first run in the second inning before swatting a solo shot in the third. He'd entered the game on a 3-for-17 run with zero extra-base hits or RBI. The lefty batter was eventually lifted for a pinch hitter (Rob Refsnyder) against left-handed reliever Tim Herrin. Aside from the recent unproductive stretch of hitting, Lowe's provided a boost for Boston as the team's primary first baseman against right-handers, going 12-for-36 (.333) with five extra-base hits and eight RBI over 12 games.

Jonathan Aranda 1B | TB
Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Resumes swinging
Aranda (wrist) has resumed swinging a bat, but his wrist is still not fully healed, MLB.com reports.
Aranda has been out for a month due to a fractured wrist, and the symptoms have recently improved. He's set to see a doctor Sept. 10, which should clarify whether he has a chance to return this season. If Aranda does get back in the lineup, it will likely only be for the final few games.

Ezequiel Duran SS | TEX
Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Sitting again Tuesday
Duran is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks.
It's the second straight game on the bench for Duran following three consecutive starts. Cody Freeman is receiving another start at second base while batting sixth.

Bobby Seymour 1B | TB
Rays' Bob Seymour: Sitting Tuesday
Seymour isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Seymour will grab a seat on the bench for a second consecutive game after having started the Rays' previous two contests. Yandy Diaz will cover first base instead Tuesday while Richie Palacios serves as the DH.

Nick Kurtz 1B | ATH
Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Back in action Tuesday
Kurtz (oblique) is starting at first base and batting leadoff Tuesday against the Cardinals.
The rookie first baseman is back in the lineup Tuesday after missing the previous three games due to oblique discomfort. Kurtz will attempt to get back on track after going 4-for-20 with five walks, a homer, five runs and nine strikeouts in the nine games preceding the injury.

Jake Burger 3B | TEX
Rangers' Jake Burger: Contributes to comeback win
Burger went 1-for-2 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Diamondbacks.
Burger was activated off the injured list Monday but did not start the game. He entered as a pinch hitter in the top of the ninth inning and delivered a run-producing triple before scoring the tying run that sent the game into the extra frame. He finished out at first base. Burger may not return to a full-time role, per Jesse Borek of MLB.com. Texas manager Bruce Bochy said the club will "pick our spots" with Burger, who is still dealing with residual issues in his wrist. The Rangers have no shortage of options on the roster that can fill in at first base, including Rowdy Tellez, Josh Smith and Ezequiel Duran.

Jake Burger 3B | TEX
Rangers' Jake Burger: Returns from 10-day IL
The Rangers activated Burger (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Monday.
Burger missed the past two weeks of action with a sprained left wrist but has been cleared to return to action after facing live pitching at the Rangers' spring training facility. The 29-year-old will likely give way to Rowdy Tellez at first base against most right-handers, though Burger may not serve as a strict platoon player, especially with Tellez having struggled to produce at the plate recently.

Bobby Seymour 1B | TB
Rays' Bob Seymour: Absent from lineup
Seymour is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners.
It's righty Luis Castillo toeing the rubber for the Mariners, but the left-handed-hitting Seymour will nonetheless begin the festivities on the bench. Yandy Diaz is handling first base and Richie Palacios will be the designated hitter for the Rays.
