  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Goes 3-for-4 in rout

Torkelson went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 10-0 victory over the White Sox.

The 24-year-old got the best of Mike Clevinger, lacing a single and a pair of run-scoring doubles off the White Sox starter. Across Torkelson's previous 10 games, the second-year first baseman hit just .086 (3-for-35) with 15 strikeouts. However, Saturday's impressive performance improved his season-long slash line to .230/.316/.437, and he now has 24 home runs, 71 RBI, and 74 runs in 574 plate appearances.

The first baseman started off a bit slow with San Diego, but he's gone 14-for-41 (.341) with a homer and seven RBI over his last 11 contests. He's picked up playing time since Jake Cronenworth (wrist) went on the injured list. Cooper is a lock to be in the lineup versus southpaws, but he's also gained a starting role against right-handers over the last week.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Exits with hand discomfort

Walker was lifted from Saturday's game versus the Orioles after the fourth inning due to right hand discomfort.

Mariners' Ty France: Exits with elbow contusion

France was lifted from Saturday's game versus the Mets with a right elbow contusion, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

He was struck by a Grant Hartwig pitch in the sixth inning and immediately left the game. It's not clear at this point whether France has undergone X-rays, but more should be available on his status after the game. The first baseman went 1-for-2 with a single prior to the hit-by-pitch.
