  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Homer, steal in win

Gelof went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Mariners.

Gelof's bat is coming around -- he's 7-for-23 (.304) with two homers and three doubles during his six-game hitting streak. Prior to the streak, he went just 7-for-51 (.137) across his first 14 games back from an oblique injury. Gelof is slashing just .193/.254/.331 on the year, adding five homers, six steals, 13 RBI and 18 runs scored over 44 contests, but he'll get every chance to continue starting at second base for a team that has struggled to be competitive.

  • Justin Foscue 1B | TEX

Rangers' Justin Foscue: Beginning rehab assignment

The Rangers assigned Foscue (oblique) to the organization's affiliate in the Arizona Complex League for a rehab assignment Wednesday.

The 25-year-old landed on the injured list with an oblique strain shortly after making his MLB debut April 6, but he's now been cleared for game action. Foscue will be eligible to be reinstated from the 60-day injured list next week, but he may require more games in the minors before being cleared to rejoin the big club.

  • Nick Loftin 1B | KC

Royals' Nick Loftin: Retreating to bench Wednesday

Loftin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Loftin had started in six of the previous seven games and looks to have emerged as the Royals' preferred option at second base in the absence of Michael Massey (back), but Loftin will give way to Garrett Hampson at the keystone Wednesday. Since being called up from Triple-A Omaha on May 26, Loftin is hitting .261 with an RBI and a run scored.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Royals' Adam Frazier: Losing work at second base

Frazier is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Frazier appeared set to take over as the Royals' primary second baseman when Michael Massey (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list May 26, but Nick Loftin has seen the majority of the starts at the keystone over the past week. The 32-year-old had been included in the lineup in both of the the Royals' previous two games, but both of his starts came in the corner outfield while Loftin manned second base. Neither Frazier nor Lofton will start Wednesday, however, as Garrett Hampson covers the keystone while MJ Melendez and Hunter Renfroe cover the corner-outfield spots.

  • Connor Norby 2B | MIA

Orioles' Connor Norby: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Norby is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Toronto.

Norby started the first two games of the series and cranked his first major league home run (and hit) Tuesday, but he'll begin Wednesday's festivities on the bench. Jordan Westburg will play second base while Ramon Urias gets a start at third base.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Pops fifth homer

Torres went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Twins.

He took Bailey Ober deep in the second inning to get the Yankees on the board, giving Torres his fifth long ball of the year. The second baseman has hit safely in five straight games and 10 of the last 11 as he shows signs of emerging from his season-long slump -- over that 11-game stretch he's slashing .297/.372/.514 with two doubles and two homers.

  • Luis Rengifo 2B | MIL

Angels' Luis Rengifo: On base three times

Rengifo went 2-for-3 with a walk, a steal and an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Padres.

Rengifo plated the Angels' first run with a base hit in the third and wound up being stranded on second after notching his 14th steal and second in as many games. He now has at least a hit in four straight games and is slashing .390/.419/.512 with three RBI, eight runs and a 2:4 BB:K in 43 plate appearances since May 24.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Drives in five vs. Marlins

Lowe went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, a two-run double and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 9-5 win over Miami.

It was a big night for Lowe in his first start this year against a left-hander -- the second baseman tied the game 3-3 with a three-run homer off Jesus Luzardo in the fourth inning before adding two more RBI with a double in the fifth. The home run was the second of the season for Lowe and his first since March 29 after spending over a month on the IL with an oblique injury. He's now slashing .203/.320/.406 with 13 RBI and eight runs scored across 75 plate appearances on the campaign.

  • Connor Norby 2B | MIA

Orioles' Connor Norby: Lifts first career homer

Norby went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Tuesday's 10-1 win over Toronto.

After going 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts in his debut, Norby collected the first hit of his career on a two-run home run off Nate Pearson in the eighth inning Tuesday. As one of the top prospects in a loaded Orioles farm system, Norby has a bright future, but he could make some noise now with Jorge Mateo (concussion) on the 7-day IL.

  • Nicky Lopez 3B | COL

White Sox's Nicky Lopez: Won't face lefty

Lopez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs.

Lopez will dodge a matchup with southpaw Shota Imanaga on Tuesday. Danny Mendick will fill in at second base and bat seventh.
