  • Amed Rosario 3B | NYY

Indians' Amed Rosario: Knocks in three in blowout win

Rosario went 2-for-5 with a three-RBI triple and a run scored in Sunday's 11-0 win over Detroit.

The shortstop's biggest hit Sunday came in the third inning on a bases-clearing triple to extend Cleveland's lead to 10-0. Rosario has hit safely in 11 of his 13 games in August, going 20-for-57 (.351) with two triples, nine RBI, six runs scored and three stolen bases in that span. The 25-year-old is slashing .276/.317/.396 with six home runs, six triples, 38 RBI, 55 runs scored and 12 stolen bases through 438 plate appearances overall. He remains Cleveland's regular No. 2 hitter.

  • Tigers' Harold Castro: Records lone hit Sunday

Castro went 1-for-3 with a single in Sunday's 11-0 loss to Cleveland.

Castro's line wasn't anything remarkable, but his eighth inning single ended Triston McKenzie's perfect game bid after 23 straight outs and ended up being Detroit's only hit of the afternoon. Castro has been a consistently solid contact hitter for the Tigers, as he's batting .272 this season after hitting .347 last year and .291 in 2019, so it's not surprising that he was the one to spoil the chance at history. The 27-year-old has been seeing regular work at shortstop recently with Niko Goodrum (groin) on the injured list.

  • Danny Mendick 3B | CHW

White Sox's Danny Mendick: Rejoins major-league club

Mendick was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

The 27-year-old returned to Triple-A after serving as the 27th man for Thursday's "Field of Dreams" game, and he'll rejoin the White Sox on Sunday with Leury Garcia (concussion) on the injured list. Mendick should fill a utility role during his time with the big-league team.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Receives breather Sunday

Lowe is not in the lineup Sunday against the Twins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe started the past 17 games and will receive a well-deserved day off after delivering a .924 OPS during that stretch. Mike Brosseau, who was promoted from Triple-A Durham on Sunday, will start at the keystone in his absence.

  • Andres Gimenez SS | TOR

Indians' Andres Gimenez: Nabs another steal

Gimenez went 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-4 loss to Detroit.

The infielder got a start at shortstop to give Amed Rosario a breather. Gimenez was one of two Cleveland hitters to reach base three times in the contest. He's already recorded two stolen bases in six games since he was recalled from Triple-A Columbus, but he's gone just 2-for-15 with three walks in that span. Despite the poor hitting, Gimenez will slide over to second base and bat eighth in Sunday's series finale in Detroit.

  • Tigers' Harold Castro: Work picks up at shortstop

Castro will start at shortstop and bat sixth Sunday against Cleveland.

Castro is picking up his third start in four games and could be in store for a near-everyday role at shortstop while the Tigers wait for Niko Goodrum (groin) to return from the injured list. Dating back to the All-Star break, Castro hasn't provided much of an impact at the dish, posting a .519 OPS with seven runs and four RBI in 19 games.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Twins' Luis Arraez: Socks second homer of season

Arraez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and an RBI single in Saturday's 12-0 win over the Rays.

The light-hitting infielder going yard is a rare occurrence, but with seemingly every Twin getting in on the fun Saturday night, Arraez would have been rude not to homer. The Venezuelan knocked in Josh Donaldson with an RBI single in the first before taking Tampa Bay starter Michael Wacha deep in the fourth inning to again score Donaldson. This was Arraez's first home run since he slammed one over the wall on April 8 against the Mariners.

  • Amed Rosario 3B | NYY

Indians' Amed Rosario: Heads to bench

Rosario will be on the bench for Saturday's game against the Tigers.

Rosario sits for just the second time in Cleveland's last 67 games. Andres Gimenez starts at shortstop in his absence.

  • Andy Ibanez 2B | NYM

Rangers' Andy Ibanez: Not in Saturday's lineup

Ibanez will sit Saturday against Oakland.

Ibanez hits the bench after starting 19 of the Rangers' last 20 games. He's gone just 3-for-32 at the plate in his last nine games. Yonny Hernandez starts at second base in his absence.

  • Ernie Clement 2B | TOR

Indians' Ernie Clement: Goes yard twice Friday

Clement went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Friday's 7-4 win over the Tigers.

Starting at second base and batting ninth, Clement was able to launch the first two homers of his brief big-league career. The 25-year-old has seen his playing time fall with Andres Gimenez back on the Cleveland roster, and even after Friday's power display, Clement's .250/.296/.359 slash line in 31 games doesn't make a strong case for a regular role.
